Day Of Miracles
Döküm
01:25I guess because they're trying to save themselves. I don't know.
01:29There has just been a huge explosion, a cascade of sparks and fire.
01:35And I can't, I'll tell you that I can't see that second tower.
01:39September 11th, 2001 changed the world forever.
01:44As we watched in horror the terrorists attack the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.
01:50United Flight 93 was headed for Washington, D.C.
01:54Its target was the White House.
01:58If it were not for the heroic actions of a few men such as Tom Burnett, 36, who gave his life,
02:06hundreds more would have died.
02:13The first person to get word that that Blaine was in trouble is my guest this morning
02:20when she got a telephone call from her husband.
02:24Nina Burnett, the widow, his mother, there are three children, two twin girls and a younger child.
02:34Welcome her now, please, with me.
02:35Tell us about Tom.
02:48What kind of a man was he, Dina?
02:52He was a remarkable man.
02:53He had heartfelt compassion.
02:58He was funny.
03:01He was an intelligent man who was intuitive and analytical.
03:08He was a leader.
03:09He loved his family and he had great faith in God.
03:14You okay?
03:15Can I get you anything?
03:18I don't want to take this flight.
03:20It just doesn't feel right leaving town right now with you not feeling well and the baby.
03:24You know what?
03:28I am going to be just fine.
03:31Wait and see.
03:35I love you, sir.
03:37I love you.
03:38Sixty, even a hundred times more.
03:47I understand he was probably one of the first to make an outside telephone call from the plane.
03:52Can you tell us about that?
03:53Yes.
03:54The children and I began our morning very early that day.
03:57It was about six o'clock when we woke up.
04:00And I immediately turned on the television to check the weather and saw that the World Trade Center had been hit by an airplane.
04:07And I was very concerned about Tom, knowing he was in New York City.
04:11At 6.27 that morning, a phone call came in from Tom's cell phone.
04:16Hello?
04:17And because it was on his cell phone, I thought that he was fine.
04:20And my first words to him were...
04:22It's so good to hear your voice.
04:23Dina, our plane's been hijacked.
04:25Listen to me, Dina.
04:26There's no time.
04:27And he began going into detail about what was taking place on the plane.
04:32Something's wrong.
04:33What the heck is going on that one?
04:35Stop breaking it.
04:36What happened?
04:37Let's go.
04:40I love you.
04:41Tell the boys I love you.
04:43They told me they had knifed a guy, that there was a bomb on board.
04:46You've got to let the authorities know.
04:49I'll call you back as soon as I can.
04:51Tom.
04:58He hung up.
05:00And I called 911 and was connected to the FBI.
05:04He called three other times that morning.
05:08Tom?
05:08Each phone call lasting about one minute or less.
05:11The news is saying that two planes just crashed into the Twin Towers.
05:13And he shared that information with the people around him.
05:16He began asking questions, analyzing the situation, assessing the problem, and trying to solve it.
05:22Looks like my husband's on the...
05:23Hold on, hold on.
05:25Tom?
05:26Did you get hold of anybody?
05:28Yes, I'm on the other line with them right now.
05:30Let them know these jerks are planning to crash this plane, too.
05:33Trying to make a plan.
05:35Baby, are you okay?
05:36We're going to have to do something soon.
05:38We're heading towards the White House as far as we can tell.
05:42Tom!
05:44Tom!
05:45Oh!
05:46They're going to crash the plane!
05:49You've got to do something!
05:50And on the fourth phone call, he let me know that they were waiting until they were over a rural area before they were going to act.
05:58The three of us are about to make our move.
06:00You've got to know and prepare yourself.
06:03It looks like we're going to die.
06:09Don't say that.
06:10Just know that no matter what happens, I love you.
06:13Tom!
06:14I asked him if there was anything else I could do.
06:17Tom, what can I do?
06:20He said pray, Dina.
06:27Just pray.
06:30Pray, Dina.
06:32Pray.
06:34Tom!
06:38Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
06:41The kingdom come and thy will be done on earth.
06:45As it is in heaven.
06:46When you heard about the plane crash, how did you hear that?
07:11The police were there.
07:18The fire department was there.
07:20The FBI was there.
07:22They were reporting another plane crash.
07:24Ms. Burnett.
07:33I have bad boys.
07:35Your husband was on a plane and my daughter was going to kill you.
07:38And I turned to the policeman and asked if that was Tom's flight.
07:43And he said yes.
07:46He was going to kill you.
07:47How did you break the news to your twin girl, six years old?
08:02A friend picked them up from school, brought them home about five o'clock that evening.
08:07I sat them down on the bed.
08:09What's wrong, Mommy?
08:11Where's Daddy?
08:13Where's Daddy?
08:14And we prayed that God would give us strength and allow me to answer their questions.
08:24Maybe there were some bad guys on Daddy's plane.
08:27Yeah.
08:27Mm-hmm.
08:28And they crashed it.
08:32And everybody, everybody died, honey.
08:36And they died, too?
08:39Yeah.
08:41And they began to cry.
08:44They knew what death meant.
08:47And they began to ask questions.
08:50They wanted to know where he was.
08:53Daddy's in heaven.
08:54And I told them he was in heaven with Jesus.
08:56And that that was a good place to be.
08:58Daddy wants to be with Jesus instead of us.
09:01They asked if they could send him a letter.
09:04They asked if they could talk to him on his cell phone.
09:06I gave him his cell phone.
09:08Oh, dear.
09:10And I explained to them that he was helping God now.
09:16And that his work was very important.
09:18And that we were here on earth to carry on God's plan for us.
09:22And that someday we would see him again.
09:25And a beautiful, perfect faith.
09:31Thank you, Jesus Christ, for being his Savior and yours.
09:38Day of Miracles is not only about those who miraculously survived this horrific event, but why.
09:45The building escort, who had never missed a day of work in his entire career,
09:49suddenly comes down with a fever.
09:51What do you think you're doing?
09:56I have not missed a day of work in ten years.
10:00And I'm not about to.
10:02Just because of a little fever.
10:05And besides, I have to be there when the dignitaries arrive.
10:11What do you think you're doing?
10:13Get back up here.
10:15You're in no condition to go anywhere.
10:16You can't be around others.
10:19You might be infectious.
10:21Just stay here.
10:22You had been doing a Bible study now for several years at the World Trade Center.
10:36At the Bible study a week before the tragedy, the Bible teacher was Dick Arthur.
10:44There was eight men there.
10:45And they said, what's the Bible study about, Dick?
10:47And he said, the rapture.
10:49And four of the men that were young said, I'm ready to go.
10:53And the other four were like older, my age, and had grandchildren.
10:58The four that said they were ready to go died.
11:00He got them, gathered them together, and he told them, if you accept Jesus as your Savior,
11:05you'll be in heaven in a few minutes.
11:08How do you know this?
11:09Because after they accepted Christ, he told them to call their families.
11:14In the moments remaining, go to the phones.
11:16Call your dear ones.
11:17Be not afraid.
11:18And tell your dear ones, be not afraid.
11:20And not to sorrow.
11:22For we go to a glorious reunion with our Creator.
11:25The timing of these prayers is particularly important and dear to God.
11:30Because this morning will be remembered by millions to the entire United States
11:35as one of the disasters of all time.
11:41Hi, I'm Cal Bramer.
11:43For many people, prayer is a personal conversation with God.
11:46A plea for God's help in making something they're desperately wishing for come true.
11:52And for many of those same people, prayer is often a last resort when tragedy strikes.
11:57Few of us know what it is to cry to God from the depths of our hearts
12:01when all else has failed, and to hear God answer.
12:04And often, it takes a terrible tragedy to bring people to a belief in the power of prayer.
12:10One person who lived through tragedy and cried out to God in prayer is Janelle Guzman.
12:19My whole life is flat right before me.
12:22I knew to myself, I honestly felt that I wasn't going to get out alive.
12:38I knew exactly where I was going.
12:41And I was, you know, going to hell.
12:43Because I knew I wasn't right with God at that time.
12:46Janelle Guzman lived life on the wild side.
12:50She would be the first to admit it.
12:51I loved to party, loved dancing, loved dressing up sexy, going out there, you know, being the center of attraction.
13:01In fact, the morning of September 11, little did she know, her life was about to change forever.
13:08Without any warning, the building just started to shake.
13:11And I wasn't really scared at that time, because I thought it probably was an earthquake, you know.
13:17So I just stood there, not moving, I just stood there and I waited until it finally stopped.
13:23And when it did stop, I just went over to the window, and I saw bits of debris and stuff, you know, falling down.
13:31Once she found out that Tower 1 had been hit by a plane, she started running down the 64 flights of stairs.
13:37I stopped on the 13th floor, and without a warning or a sign or anything at all, I just felt an explosion.
13:48And the place went completely dark and dusty.
13:51I was feeling so helpless, I couldn't move, so I just stood there, face down, with the thought that I'm going to die.
14:03This is it. This is it for me.
14:05Janelle was trapped and buried alive under the rubble of the collapsed tower.
14:09I thought I was dreaming.
14:12When I woke up, I was like spitting on dust, and I said, oh my gosh, this is not a dream.
14:18This is really happening. This is real.
14:22And still, I didn't pray.
14:25Unable to move and hardly able to breathe, she knew she was dying, and there was only one place for her to turn.
14:32And then my whole demeanor just changed right there and then, and I said, God, I don't want to die, you know.
14:41Give me that second chance, you know.
14:43Save my life. I need to be with my family.
14:48Under the fallen building, alone and exhausted, Janelle began talking to God in a way that was entirely new to her.
14:56I just take a deep breath, and I said to myself, oh, God, give me the strength to pull my head out from the concrete pillar.
15:05I just pulled it with all my might, and I just yank it out, and I could feel a hair, and my hair just ripped out.
15:15But I was feeling this burning sensation in my heart, and I was like, really wanting for him to hear me.
15:22Janelle wondered if she would get out a lie, and she turned to God in desperation.
15:28I was asking him for a miracle, you know.
15:31I was there, and I was just giving my all to him, and I was saying, you know, God, you can do miracles.
15:37I heard that you'd done it before.
15:39You know, why can you show me a miracle today?
15:41Show me a sign.
15:42Show me that you hear me.
15:44You know, I'm calling all out to you, and, you know, just answer me.
15:47Sometimes we underestimate the power of prayer.
15:56Give me meaning in my life.
15:58Well, on this particular morning, there were hundreds of prayers heard and answered, and hundreds of prayers since then.
16:06Janelle was caught in the middle of the crashing towers and prayed for God to help her.
16:11The next day, she was the only one found alive.
16:13When they rescued her, she was found standing up, asleep.
16:21Janelle didn't know who was with her, but his presence was calming.
16:27I felt the person said, Janelle, I got you.
16:30My name is Paul.
16:32And I had a smile on my face, and I said, oh, thank God.
16:36And I kind of drift out of sleep, and then I wake up, you know, very fast, and I tried to look at the person to see his face,
16:43because he was still holding my hand, and he said, you all right?
16:46You know, they're going to get you out of here.
16:47You know, hold on.
16:48I'm going to hold your hand through it all until, you know, until the guys get here.
16:52After being buried for 27 hours, Janelle Guzman was conscious when she was pulled from the rubble.
16:58She was the last survivor rescued, taken to the hospital.
17:01Her first request was to meet and to thank Paul.
17:05So which one of you held my hand?
17:07They said, they didn't hold my hand.
17:10No one was holding my hand, talking with me.
17:13They said, no, no one on the team was named Paul that day.
17:19Even the firemen that rescued Janelle said there was no Paul on their team.
17:24Convinced that she saw an angel, Janelle knew she had to change her life.
17:29And when I saw Roger, and he came to my bedside, I said, honey, we have to change.
17:34We have to get control of our life and be right with God.
17:38I can't go back to live with you, you know, not being married.
17:42Roger agreed, knowing in his heart that only God could have saved Janelle's life.
17:47He was more than willing to live differently, and they were married in June of 2002.
17:52Now, instead of looking forward to weekends of wild partying, their first priority is their relationship with God.
18:00I really believe that there's no way anything or anybody is going to come between my family,
18:07as far as Janelle, my wife, and I are concerned,
18:10because of that center foundation that we have that is so strong, which is God.
18:15Today, Janelle is able to walk along the streets of Ground Zero
18:19and realize she doesn't need a tragedy to motivate her to pray.
18:23Instead, she relies on daily prayer to help her in all areas of her life.
18:28I know prayer is the answer to all things.
18:31When we think it isn't impossible for things to happen, prayer beats it all.
18:38Janelle Guzman-McMillen believes it was prayer that kept her alive
18:42through the worst terrorist attack the U.S. has ever seen.
18:45And she knows now that God hears and answers our prayers.
18:53She is lucky to be alive.
18:55She is one of the survivors of the Twin Towers.
18:58What were you doing in the Twin Towers on September 11th?
19:01Well, it was my first time actually there.
19:04I was visiting one of my really good friends from college,
19:06and she had just gotten a job as a trader at Cantor Fitzgerald.
19:11And we had breakfast at Wild Blue, you know,
19:15the attached to windows of the world.
19:17And really moments before, I had said my goodbyes to Stacey
19:22and headed down the elevator.
19:25And the elevator just started shaking a lot.
19:28There was really, the sound was unbearable
19:31and didn't really have any concept of what was happening.
19:36It just happened so fast,
19:38it really didn't get a chance to analyze it too much at that moment.
19:43When did you first realize there was an airplane
19:45that had crashed into the building?
19:47Not until after, later after I was revived.
19:52There was a lot of debris and kind of scratched and clawed my way out.
19:56You know, there was a, it was, it was, it was covered in, in soot and things.
20:03There was a, there was a man in the elevator with me,
20:06and he didn't make it out.
20:14I don't understand.
20:16I'm only going to be gone for the day,
20:18and what's bothering you?
20:20I just really don't have a good feeling about this trip.
20:23Besides, you promised me that you'd never travel without me again.
20:27I know, I promised, but I can't help it.
20:30They have an emergency meeting,
20:31and I've got to be there, so I can't help that.
20:34But hey, I feel great.
20:36I've never felt better.
20:37And the heart, I haven't had any problems with it for, for a long time.
20:41And if I need it, I've got medicine I can take with me, which I am.
20:44And, and I've got, I've got the little, you know, the, the little phone.
20:49Cell phone?
20:50Can you hear me?
20:50Yes.
20:51So it's important that you know that I'm there,
20:55and I will always be with you.
20:57All right.
20:57Well, you promised me a really big wedding.
21:00I promise you a big wedding.
21:01Will you get a text while you're in New York?
21:03And I promise I'll get a text.
21:05Oh, good.
21:06So.
21:09Come here.
21:15Mmm.
21:16That should keep you safe.
21:18You know, I love you very much.
21:22You're my whole world.
21:23I, I, I don't know what I'd do without you.
21:25You just wouldn't.
21:27No.
21:30Go, you've got a plane to catch.
21:32All right, you, I'll call you.
21:35Bye-bye.
21:36Bye, baby.
21:37I see a light.
21:45I see a light.
21:45I see a light.
21:46I see a light.
21:50With the help of some paramedics and, and real heroes as far as, as far as it goes, I, I remember kind of looking down and, and the paramedics were trying to resuscitate me.
22:16And I could see myself, and I'm thinking, why are they working so hard?
22:20I feel fine.
22:21You know, I was, I was watching it all happening and I didn't feel any, any physical pain at that time.
22:29Although I know I was in pain as I was trying to get out, but I, I was just praying.
22:32I was a silent observer, and I remember hearing them pronouncing me dead.
22:37You know, she's gone.
22:39I didn't feel much of anything other than just kind of peace.
22:43And as I kind of felt my, I guess, more ethereal, or my spirit going and watching this all happen, I, and them working so hard and me not being in pain.
22:54And then I, I, I felt a lot of light and love around me.
23:02Also, you know, my, my grandparents, who had passed when I was young, I saw them and it was almost like I was, like I was coming home.
23:12And I, there was an angel and I seemed, felt very small next to him.
23:15I, you know, it was, it seemed, I had no sense of time or real space.
23:20It was really, um, strange and beautiful.
23:25You know, it was, um, surreal feeling of, of peace and universal love.
23:31It was just, um, warm.
23:34I remember saying, Lord, if I'm here, if you want me, take me.
23:39And, um, it was seen as if no sooner than that, I was, I was, he was sending me back and, and, um, you know, leading me into service there.
23:51And I was with, surrounded by, uh, spirits of those that I love and, and I felt so safe.
23:58And, and when I came back into my body, it was, um, how can I say, it was, uh, it was like I was plunged into a pool of ice.
24:09Oh, my God, she's back.
24:15She's back.
24:16It's a miracle.
24:16She's back.
24:18For moments, no where I was or really how I got there.
24:22And, and it was, um, I didn't necessarily want to be back at that moment.
24:28I feel really blessed and fortunate.
24:31And, um, and I, I think that, um, you know, I'm just trying to share that.
24:39with others and see how, uh, I can help.
24:42I know that it wasn't my time.
24:44And, um, and, uh, and I know that now.
24:49I'm, I'm not afraid of death at all anymore.
24:51You know, thinking about it before and seeing others that had gone before me and, but now I have a sense of peace and knowing, you know,
24:58or get, at least getting a glimpse of the feeling of, you know, what they're experiencing and, um, but there's so much to do here.
25:06where so many, so many women lost their husbands and so many children lost their parents.
25:14And, um, well, that's, that's, you know, somebody, everybody needs some comfort.
25:20The, the people who survived, um, we have a lot to be thankful for.
25:26And I hope that, you know, we're, you know, I, I, I feel good about being able to help those that did survive.
25:34Because there's so much, there's so much grief and, you know, but there were so many miracles that happened that day, too.
25:41Amber, the young businesswoman, was trapped in the elevator when power went out of the tower.
25:45Somehow, she escaped the elevator, only to find herself on a terrifying long journey to safety.
26:03I see a light.
26:15I see a light.
26:28I see a light.
26:39I see a light.
26:41I see a light.

30:08Psalm 147, verses 1 through 6.
30:12Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God.
30:17How pleasant and fitting to praise Him.
30:20The Lord builds up Jerusalem, gathers the exiles of Israel.
30:24He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
30:28He determines the number of the stars and calls each of them by name.
30:33Great is our Lord and mighty in power. His understanding has no limit.

31:34Okay, ladies and gentlemen, turn the page over one more page.
31:39Then look at item number three,
31:41and then we'll continue to compare with the, uh, with the chart.
31:45Turn it over, and we'll start with item number one.
31:47Excuse me, Carl.
32:01Item number three.
32:07What?
32:08Captain, assemble the Joint Chiefs.
32:16Ladies and gentlemen,
32:17an aircraft had just crashed in at the World Trade Center.
32:20For the monitor.
32:24We might be under attack.
32:27Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
32:30We don't know that yet.
32:32God help us.
32:33God help us.
32:38Oh my God, oh my God, a plane just crashed into the towers.
32:43What?
32:43What should I do?
32:44All right, look, calm down.
32:45Let's get the sect up on the line.
32:46Do you understand?
32:48Go, go.
32:48Go.
32:48Go, go, go.

47:10as they stumbled out of that cloud of death.
47:17So here's your phone.
47:18Sir, this phone isn't working.
47:20My wife, she's on the 71st floor.
47:22It's not possible she's going to make it.
47:24Well, let's try your phone.
47:27I think I've got something here.
47:31Oh my God.
47:32Is that you, honey?
47:34I've been trying you all day.
47:36I've called so many times, I couldn't get through.
47:40I'm so glad that you're alive.
47:43You know, I tried to go in to search for you,
47:46but this kind woman pulled me out
47:48and said I needed to think about the baby.
47:53Hours later, his cell phone rang
47:56and he ran as fast as he could to the New Jersey ferry.
47:59I saw my wife,
48:01I saw my wife next to Jacob Javitson
48:04and they're standing there just waiting for me.
48:07And we couldn't believe it.
48:08Because both of us had given hope.
48:10that we would ever see each other.
48:12I had absolutely no hope
48:13that I would be alive in the first place.
48:15The second place that I would ever see my wife.
48:17Same with her.
48:18And then we see each other.
48:20We hug each other as if like, this is not real.
48:24This story is not just about those who died,
48:26but also about those whose lives
48:28will be changed forever.
48:30It's given me a wonderful opportunity
48:33to share my faith and the faith that Tom had.
48:38And I think if anything positive and wonderful
48:44can come from a tragic and horrid situation,
48:47then it is the fact that we can,
48:50in the midst of a tragedy,
48:51find God
48:54and the strength that he can give us
48:57and know that if we trust in him,
49:00then we'll be just fine.
49:04I know prayer is the answer to all things.
49:08When we think it isn't impossible
49:10for things to happen,
49:12prayer beats it all.
49:14If you know Jesus,
49:15that's all the name you need to take.
49:16That name is so powerful.
49:18It's more powerful.
49:19It's like,
49:20I can't compare it to any other name.
49:22It's like,
49:22if the enemy thought that the bomb was powerful
49:24or that plane was powerful,
49:26oh my God,
49:27just this name, Jesus,
49:28that's more powerful than any scheme
49:30or the evil one.
49:31At this hour,
49:33Sujo and Mary are so grateful to the Lord
49:36for life,
49:37for their love,
49:38for the simple joy
49:39of having each other
49:41and a baby on the way.
49:43But in their joy
49:44is a deep sense of loss.
49:46I'm happy in a way
49:47that my wife and I are alive
49:48and my families
49:50and our families
49:51are not going through
49:51what thousands upon thousands
49:53of families are going through
49:54in this country.
49:56But the only thing
49:57that keeps coming to mind
49:58day in, day out,
49:59like the last two days
50:00has been like,
50:01those innocent firemen,
50:03those policemen,
50:04all the volunteers,
50:06they had no reason
50:07to be in that building.
50:08They just came up
50:09through the doors
50:09of those buildings
50:10just to save people like us.
50:14And today,
50:15they are not in their homes.
50:16Their loved ones
50:17have no clue where they are.
50:19They're frantically running
50:20all over the hospitals
50:22in Manhattan,
50:23you know,
50:23trying to reach,
50:24trying to reach,
50:25you know,
50:25trying to see the face
50:26of their loved one.
50:28And some of them
50:28are never even going
50:29to get their bodies.
50:31That thought just
50:32breaks my heart.
50:33As we look over
50:34the landscape
50:34of lower Manhattan,
50:36we're torn
50:36between the incredible stories
50:38of God's deliverance
50:39and the tragic stories
50:41of unimaginable grief.
50:44The Word of God
50:45tells us to rejoice
50:46with those who are rejoicing
50:47and weep
50:48with those who are weeping.
50:50This is an hour
50:51when we will certainly
50:52do both.
50:54What is also certain
50:56but unseen
50:56is the rejoicing voices
50:58in heaven
50:59of those 12 people
51:01who huddled
51:02with Sujo John
51:03as the World Trade Center
51:05Tower number two
51:06collapsed.
51:07Their names
51:08are unknown to us
51:09but not to Jesus the Christ.
51:13With their last breath,
51:14they called upon
51:16His name.
51:17The only name under heaven
51:19that has the power
51:21over eternity.
51:22Over 90% of the
51:24Tabernacle Choir
51:24were miraculously absent
51:26from their offices
51:27in the World Trade Center
51:28on 9-11.
51:29If you believe
51:49you'll always have tomorrow
51:53If you believe
51:57dreams can all come true
52:01Deep in your heart
52:04you know
52:06it's faith that you must show
52:09If you believe
52:11there's nothing you can't do
52:16And in this world of art
52:19The hero will be you
52:24All my life
52:29All my life
52:32I've always known
52:37Always
52:39The man of stars
52:42The man of stars
52:43is watching over
52:45And his faith
52:48that he wants
52:50you to show
52:51If you believe
52:55you'll always have tomorrow
52:59If you believe
53:02dreams can all come true
53:07If in your heart
53:10You know
53:11It's faith that you must show
53:15If you believe
53:17there's nothing you can't do
53:21And in this world of art
