Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has held talks in Moscow with Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, reinforcing the deepening political and economic relationship between the two countries despite EU-level tensions. Lavrov praised the “useful” November 28 discussions between Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orbán, calling both leaders pragmatic actors focused on national interests.
Lavrov highlighted that all bilateral cooperation mechanisms continue to function smoothly, with particular emphasis on expanding trade despite what he described as “illegal Western sanctions” led by the European Commission. A major focal point of the meeting was the Paks II nuclear power project, which Russia says is progressing successfully and remains the flagship of Moscow-Budapest energy cooperation.
The Russian minister also underscored growing collaboration in electricity, culture, humanitarian ties, and sports, noting joint efforts to resist what he called politically motivated restrictions on athletes. On international issues, Lavrov reaffirmed that both Russia and Hungary prioritise building a “reliable security architecture in Europe” and stressed the need to return to principles of equality, mutual respect, and indivisible security.
Lavrov said both sides share concerns over the protection of national minorities in Ukraine, calling it an essential component of any future settlement. He added that Russia is ready to brief Hungary on new developments since the recent Putin–Orbán meeting. With Budapest often breaking ranks with the EU on Russia policy, the meeting underscores Hungary’s unique role inside the bloc and Moscow’s continued push for alternative European partnerships.
00:00Dear Peter, I am very happy to see you again.
00:06On October 28th, we had a very important conversation with you.
00:21We were involved with you, and this was a very useful conversation of two leaders,
00:29who are focused on national interests of their nation, their state,
00:35and they are acting pragmatically and rational.
00:40On October 28th, we had a number of people in the world and in the past.
00:44It was a very interesting conversation,
00:46where we could talk about many topics and pragmatic ways.
00:50I think this is a pragmatic conversation between the two leaders,
00:55and this is a very important conversation.
00:57All the mechanisms of the two-part work, which have been formed,
01:01are working rhythmically, effectively,
01:04and I believe that today's meeting
01:07of the Commission on trade and economic cooperation
01:10will bring a new, successful role in the future
01:13of our cooperation.
01:15The two leaders are working well.
01:16I think it's a very useful work.
01:17I think it's a very useful work.
01:18I believe that the current government
01:21will be able to do the cooperation between the two countries.
01:22and the peace of mind, the peace of mind, will continue to be the same working of two countries?
01:27Of course, this is seriously the legal sanctions that are carried out by our Western colleagues.
01:36And above all, the government of the European Commission.
01:41Of course, there are a lot of sanctions for the European countries and European countries.
01:52But despite all these difficulties, the trade-off is growing thanks to the efforts that are held by the European Commission and the European Commission.
02:01In this case, the two countries are born, and it is possible to make sure that the two countries are in charge of the government, so that the two countries are in charge of the government, so that they can do it.
02:13It is successful a flagman project of the Atom-Negato-Stancio Pax, new blocks of this huge project.
02:25Of course, this project is the Pax-2 project, which indicates the new block, the new reactor.
02:36In general, the electric energy sector is a priority in our relations, and this sector is also sustainable.
02:46Of course, we are very happy about how our cooperation is in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
03:03In English, it was a festival of Russian music, dedicated to the art of Rahmaninov.
03:10It was a part of the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
03:14It was a part of the Russian spiritual culture.
03:28We had a new impact on our contact in the sport, where we also have to see the ideal of the Olympic movement, the ideal of the sport movement in general,
03:43and to overcome the limits of the sportsmen, which are the political and ideological context,
03:49and ideology.
03:51There was a new sport in the sport,
03:53and the cooperation of the olivia's values,
03:55the aloebri's values,
03:57the political interests,
03:59and we think that
04:01in this area
04:03there was a cooperation of the cooperation.
04:07And, of course,
04:09our leaders also discussed
04:11international problem.
04:13From that time,
04:15it was 10 days,
04:17and I believe that
04:19we are going to change the opinion
04:21that in particular
04:23the situation will be
04:25in Ukraine.
04:41I know,
04:43as the Russian Federation,
04:45one of the main goals
04:47of these efforts
04:49is to provide
04:51safe safe in Europe.
04:53This is a
04:55safe safe structure,
04:57which is created after the cold war.
04:59It supports a serious experience,
05:01and, of course,
05:03we need to return to the principle of
05:05the cooperation,
05:07and, of course,
05:09the safety of the URSS
05:11and the peace of the URSS
05:13as they are
05:15in the peace of the war.
05:17And I think that
05:19the European peace of the EU
05:21is now
05:22that in the war is
05:23the best of the war.
05:25It means that
05:27we are going to
05:29And another important question, which Russia and Hungary are looking for as a Ukrainian crisis, is that it is the return of the international standards for national rights.
05:47And I think this is one of the results in the Ukraine crisis, which is the resolution of the ethnicities and ethnicities.
05:56I'm ready to share our opinions about the events and contacts, which happened after the meeting of President Putin and Prime Minister Orban.
06:06I'm very happy to share those new information from the Prime Minister and Putin before the meeting of the Prime Minister.
06:16I know that our Hungarian friends are very keen to watch all of these events, so it will be very interesting and useful, as always.

07:17And we support the American-oros-partners.
07:22I am fully支持 the Russian-American conversation on this topic.
07:30I am confident that the Russian-American dialogue will come to the world.
07:40And when this happens, then the end of the economic situation,
07:45which is now the world is out of the world.
07:52So, this is the idea that we can get out of the world.
07:55The sanctions have been taken too long.
07:58It has been a big impact.
08:00But this is mostly because of Europe.
08:02Not at us it depends on us.
08:11We believe that this new economic situation
08:15is a huge opportunity for us.
08:18And we want to make sure that this is the best start of the position.
08:23So, there are 34 members of the government.
08:25And now, with me, there are 30-40 members of the government.
08:32And among the most important members of the government.
08:34And the most important members of the government.
08:37and so we would like our to come back to...

08:41Let us know thatCómo the policies of our state
08:42is not going back to the way through Egypt.

09:33We know that those who have been able to move on to the next year's work will continue to do this.
09:39But we will try to move on to the next year's work.
