01:10Neither.
01:11My room.
01:12Right clear.
01:13Left clear.
01:14Can you do Thursday?
01:15I'll be honest, there's no problem right now.
01:18There's no problem working.
01:19If injuries aren't compatible with life, you need to make that assessment.
01:22Then that's why we're doing that.
01:24Are you happy with just two of you on the point?
01:26Right, yeah.
01:27Right, yeah.
01:28Just two of you straight in then.
01:29Can you come out?
01:30It's outward facing this.
01:31He comes back, all right?
01:39Loaded.
01:41No.
01:42Absolutely hopeless.
01:43There's nothing to be done here.
01:47We've got a white Persia, that's all we've got so far.
01:49It was, I think it was 207 or 307.
01:51Yeah.
01:52Yeah.
01:53AK-14.
01:54Yeah.
01:59Oh, let's see.
02:00Can I pass the update at this stage, please?
02:02Go ahead.

02:07it's either Alpha X-Ray 1.4 or Alpha Kilo 1.4 White Peugeot.

02:13Yeah, that's all we see, mate.
02:14Thank you, mate.
02:19Police emergency.
02:20How can I help?
02:21My husband's come home.
02:22Outside on the gravel,
02:23the two shotgun pellets we can't find our neighbour.
02:26It's all about seeing what's wrong.
02:29Stand by.
02:30I've got a linked incident coming through.
02:32Do you hear that?
02:34Oh, he's dead.
02:35He's dead.
02:36We've got a local unit there.
02:38I've got a linked incident coming in now.
02:404-6-4.
02:41Got another address.
02:42I hope the show's fired.
02:44We've got one who's stuck in.
02:46The show's fired.
02:47That's copied to ALV1.
02:49Immediate to that location, please.
02:50We're coming as well.
02:54What is going on?
03:00It's crucial that we find the truth.
03:02Three, two, three.
03:04Hands you on your back.
03:06Got to question everything.
03:08Believe nobody.
03:11It's almost a game of chess.
03:12Trying to get him to slip up.
03:14This is your opportunity to talk to me.
03:24We're getting a little fairly unprecedented up here.
03:26We're getting all the addresses with shots fired.
03:29Can I get support, please?
03:30Just up to the north, an area of Cambridge here, please.
03:36317.
03:37Just arriving at the first address.
03:39We start seeing preservation.
03:42That's all right.
03:44Victim's right in the hallway.
03:45Injury's not compared to where life is.
03:46Just give us an air, but we'll head off.
03:49The victim at the first address in Bluntisham
03:52is believed to be 32-year-old Joshua Dunmore.
03:56I've got family and friends turning up.
03:58I've just had a phone call off someone saying
04:01that they've heard that something's gone on with Josh,
04:03so I'm his best friend, obviously, so I've come straight here.
04:07OK.
04:09Hello, mate.
04:10OK.
04:11I can't allow you in at the moment.
04:14Who's it?
04:15Is it Josh?
04:16Has his dad been called?
04:17Our aim is not answering.
04:18Is he in the ambulance?
04:19No.
04:21Can you just help me, please?
04:23The person's deceased within that address.
04:26Just kidding.
04:28This is Darren.
04:30Josh, he's the brother.
04:32Who's what?
04:35Can I tell him?
04:36Of course you can.
04:42Just stay calm, mate.
04:44Just stay calm.
04:45I'm going to tell his dad now, OK?
04:46I've got to ring the brother.
04:47I'm really sorry.
04:48It's all right.
04:49If you can stand here with me.
04:52I'll pass it.
04:53I'll pass it.
04:56I'll pass it.
04:57I'll pass it.
04:58I'll pass it.
05:00Apparently, there is a deceased now at the address.
05:04The victim at the moment is unidentified.
05:07We believe in suspects in the possession of a shotgun.
05:13Immediate kind of actions for you guys to confirm.
05:15We've got no other injured parties.
05:17No one else around that address presenting any imminent threat for life.
05:21Did you get anything from the bin?
05:23Hello, mate. Can you hear me?
05:25Hello, can you hear me?
05:26Not compatible.
05:27We're here to support.
05:28Say not compatible again.
05:29Not compatible.
05:30We're here to support if you need to.
05:31Do it on your own if you can, yeah?
05:32All right.
05:33I'll hold downstairs.
05:34Don't you work upstairs?
05:37I have E3.
05:40Two shotgun shells here.
05:42Two shotgun shells at the location.
05:44Vehicle not here.
05:46A of E1 doing an emergency search in the property.
05:49Oh, police!
05:50Anyone in the building?
05:52Okay, do you take right?
05:53Yeah.
05:54Okay, open door left, stack.
05:58You all right?
06:00Room's clear?
06:01What we're hearing is injuries not compatible with life.
06:04Second deceased male.
06:06My room.
06:08Room clear.
06:09Room clear.
06:10Happy house clear?
06:11Happy.
06:12Yeah.
06:14Subject vehicle.
06:15Left location.
06:16Approximately 1-5, 15 minutes ago.
06:21Bit surreal, innit?
06:22Two minutes ago, I was watching her.
06:23I'd advise not contacting them at all.
06:24I'm just trying to get hold of me brother, okay?
06:25I understand that, but...
06:26It's his son.
06:27Okay.
06:29It's his son.
06:30Okay.
06:31Our victims look like they are family.
06:34Yeah, I do understand it.
06:35The father and the son have both been murdered.
06:37I just...
06:38I'm gonna need to keep you here, okay?
06:39Yeah, okay.
06:40Let's go.
06:41Um...
06:42I know this is a big shock and I know it's a lot to take in.
06:44There's someone at Gary's address...
06:45Is it my brother?
06:46It's my brother?
06:47I'm gonna need to keep you here, okay?
06:51Yeah, okay.
06:52I know this is a big shock and I know it's a lot to take in.
07:11There's someone at Gary's address...
07:13Is it my brother?
07:14Sorry?
07:16The police are at Gary's.
07:17The police are at Gary's address.
07:19Yes, is it Gary there?
07:20Yes.
07:21Is he okay?
07:22Yes.
07:23I love God.
07:24Is he?
07:25Yes.
07:26No, I don't know him.
07:27I'm really sorry.
07:29I love God.
07:30I can't lie to you.
07:33Can't help.
07:35He's definitely dead.
07:36Yes.
07:37I'm so sorry.
07:38I need to...
07:39It's my brother.
07:40I know.
07:43I love you.
07:45I love you.
07:53I've put a full message across North and South.
07:55No units to go home.
07:57MC, you will be aware of this.
08:00Yes, sir.
08:01Send everyone's headquarters, please,
08:03and we'll freak in there.
08:04This one is really savage, savage.
08:20Scenes then, let's just bottom off the witnesses and the segments we were going to try and get.
08:26So, scene one, which is Joshua's house.
08:32There's a few people that are saying they heard the bangs.
08:36Everybody's saying two shots within about four seconds of each other.
08:42Jake, he's saying he heard noises outside, saw the gunman at 19 with the gun, and then he found the body.
08:49So, it's a secret to be done.
08:52Scene two, which is Gary's house.
08:56Joe, um, he noticed a bit of the background and saw a white Peugeot driving away.
09:03Apparently, there was a domestic-related court case, and there's been disgruntled arguments around that.
09:14So, we make some inquiries, and then we can, we can progress that.
09:18If you know who he is on dispute with, you need to tell me.
09:21I don't know his name. I find out he's American.
09:24American forces.
09:25He's married.
09:26What's that?
09:27Josh's ex.
09:28OK, there is a dispute.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Josh won the case.
09:31Yeah.
09:32They weren't happy.
09:33Chloe, Romeo, 317.
09:37Um, I'm being told from scene that there was a court case which the ex-partner lost,
09:41and the male at Buridan first won the court case.
09:43They're saying that the new partner lost it in court, and they think it's connected.
09:48The male's got short, dark hair, and I've been given a name of Paul Stevens.
09:55The possible suspect, which is our Paul Stevens, which is an American serviceman.
09:59They'll be trying to establish more around him, whether he's on the base, whether he has
10:04the firearms, whether he has any specialist firearms training.
10:08It's a bit concerning he's reloaded that before he's left.
10:09Mm-hm.
10:10Surely can't be going to do another one.
10:11How's he going to end this, bro?
10:12Where's this going to end?
10:14Can you answer the family?
10:15You just murdered two people.
10:16Yeah.
10:17What do you do now?
10:18It's got my own ideas in my housing.
10:19What do you do?
10:20I'm thinking the car's going to be burnt out in the next 10 minutes.
10:21No, I disagree.
10:22Yeah, yeah.
10:23I think you know what I think.
10:24Yeah, I know, but I'm just trying to think where do you go from here.
10:25Just to make you aware, mate, I've got another one coming in, 479, shots fired.
10:26Jeez, that's a huge thing.
10:27Something's happening.
10:28He's going around on a vendetta.
10:29I don't know.
10:30I don't know.
10:31I don't know.
10:32I don't know.
10:33I've just murdered two people.
10:34What do you do now?
10:35What do you do now?
10:36I've got my own ideas in my housing.
10:37What do you do?
10:38I'm thinking the car's going to be burnt out in the next 10 minutes.
10:39No, I disagree.
10:40Yeah, yeah.
10:41I think you know what I think.
10:42Yeah, I know, but I'm just trying to think where do you go from here.
10:46Just to make you aware, mate, I've got another one coming in.
10:48479, shots fired.
10:50Jeez, no taste of things.
10:52Something's happening.
10:53He's going around on a vendetta.
10:55Location, please.
10:58Luncheon.
10:59Press is close.
11:00Luncheon.
11:02Guys, I've got some information.
11:04I need to get you out of here now.
11:06Is he coming back here?
11:07I need to get you out of here now.
11:08I want you all in your cars, and I want you all to the police station now.
11:12Right, just get in your cars.
11:14Get in your cars, please, and go to the police station now.
11:17Get in any car.
11:18Don't mind which car.
11:19Just get in cars and go.
11:21Just get in the car and go.
11:24Just get in the car and go.
11:36We have now got engine mass lifted.
11:41They're 23 minutes out.
11:43With more shots reported, all units are deployed to track down the gunman on the run.
11:48have been shot dead in their homes in Cambridgeshire.
12:03I'll let you know when we're in.
12:04Yeah.
12:07With more shots reported,
12:09all units are deployed to track down the gunman on the run.
12:18They can hear me.
12:19Yes, yes, go ahead.
12:21You need to do a very good sleep and check that there isn't a body
12:24in any obvious location in the round-the-screen area of the western.
12:29I don't like this.
12:30No, I think you're all right, thank you.
12:31I don't like it one bit.
12:34As armed officers continue the manhunt...
12:37Hello there, it's the police.
12:39..the victim's family must be placed in protective custody
12:42for their own safety.
12:43We have information to suggest there's an immediate risk of harm to you
12:46and we need to get you to a place of safety.
12:48We're in the park area of Mill Lane.
12:55Just clear this little bit here.
12:57Just want to get behind these trees.
13:12Rear pass is 54.
13:14In pass 54, guys.
13:15I'm not sure how much has been passed to you.
13:18I'm not sure where you're at.
13:20I'm not sure where you're at.
13:21I'm not sure where you're at.
13:22I'm not sure where you're at.
13:23I'm not sure where you're at.
13:24I'm not sure where you're at.
13:24I'm not sure where you're at.
13:24So Romeo 153
13:32Are you at the police station with all of the family members so far?
13:38Have a seat in here
13:40I'm not sure how much has been passed to you
13:44And how much you're aware of
13:45About my brother and my dad
13:49In their own homes
13:53Sorry, Andrew, you probably don't know
14:00Have they found anybody?
14:01Have they found him?
14:03I grew up being friends with Josh
14:17He was very, very nice man
14:21By far
14:22I speak to my dad and my brother
14:24Yeah
14:25Every day
14:25Still in shock
14:27I think he'll be very old if you weren't
14:31You can hear me now
14:33You can hear me now going like my mum
14:34My mum
14:35My poor, poor boy
14:41You could do such a thing
14:47With the family safely secured at Huntingdon police station
14:53Officers continue the manhunt led by Cambridgeshire police's Oscar 1
14:58Cam's Oscar 1
15:01I've got a job going on now
15:03Someone's potentially in possession of a lethal weapon
15:06I've got inquiries going on with this Paul Stevens
15:10And trying to establish further details of the car
15:12Standby
15:14Getting possible to index the suspect vehicle
15:18It's showing as a Mr. Steve Alderton
15:23Is this suspect not called Paul Stevens?
15:27So Samantha Alderton, which is now Stevens
15:32Is the ex-partner of Joshua Dunmore
15:36So I think that Steven Alderton is probably her dad
15:40And Paul Stevens is her new partner
15:42Has dad got a firearms certificate?
15:46I've got to mention it
15:47Yeah
15:48My basic sort of theory would be that
15:51Paul out during his murders
15:53In conjunction with Steven
15:54Or Paul on his phone
15:56As of 2341
16:03Paul Stevens phone
16:05The phone is pinging in the Holiday Inn
16:08Confirmed there is a room booked
16:11For Paul Stevens at the Holiday Inn
16:14And there's two victims registered there as well
16:17If he's there
16:19I would lift him for conspiracy to murder
16:22Occupants believe to be in room 319
16:28Mr. Paul Stevens
16:30Who is an American serviceman
16:32Possibly in possession of a firearm
16:36Right
16:37Positions can settle
16:39Just settle, OK
16:40Are we looking at arresting both Paul Stevens
16:42And wife Samantha Stevens
16:44For conspiracy to commit murder?
16:46Yeah, that's all ratified
16:48Please
16:49Containment's in place
16:51On room 319
16:53When us once happy
16:55We'll begin the call out
16:56He's happy for you to move forward
16:58That's what we
17:00We're happy
17:01Let's be robust with Paul
17:04Yeah
17:04Police
17:07Occupancy 319
17:09Come to the door with nothing in your hands
17:11Paul, it's armed police
17:13Open the door with nothing in your hands
17:17And listen to my instructions
17:18Slowly
17:21Hands
17:21Slowly, Paul
17:22Walk out towards me
17:24Keep walking
17:26Turn to face then
17:27Listen to their instructions
17:28Walk with your hands against the wall
17:30Hands against the wall
17:31Don't move
17:32Quiet closure
17:38Confirmed that's not been located at the address
17:40Don't have completely freed the car park
17:43Can't find it here at the hotel
17:45Just confirmed we've got contacts with Paul and Samantha
17:50Yes, sir
17:52With the offender's vehicle still not located
17:57Officers take a statement from Joshua Dunmore's neighbour
18:01Who phoned in the first murder
18:03As I come out my front door
18:05I see a guy coming out of my neighbour's house
18:08I turn round and said to him
18:10What the fuck are you doing?
18:12He then turned round and pointed a shotgun at me
18:15And told me that he was loaded
18:19What I need to say to you is really important
18:23Two persons have been murdered this evening
18:25I'm arresting both of you
18:27And we need to arrange childcare
18:29So we'll childcare for the children
18:30Okay, Samantha, what we'll do
18:32Yourself and the children
18:33Are just going to go and wait back in the room
18:35Is that your switch in the hotel room?
18:39Yes
18:40Do you want to come and show me what games you've got?
18:42Come on, Samantha, we'll
18:43Okay, kids coming up
18:46Hello, mate
18:47Go on then
18:47What games you've got?
18:50Me
18:50Oh
18:51You look at me, this is the big switch, isn't it?
18:56We can also do piano
18:59Okay, can you play piano?
19:05You can play the piano
19:06It's very good, mate
19:08Hi, you all right?
19:11Are you guys CRD?
19:12Yeah
19:12Yeah
19:12So we've got him upstairs now
19:14Paul, they've both been lifted
19:15They're both devastated, crying their hearts out
19:17But you would do, wouldn't you?
19:19Samantha, if you've done nothing wrong
19:21You've got nothing to worry about
19:22The last thing we ever do
19:24Is take children away from their parents
19:26But police stations aren't a nice place to go
19:28And in the long run
19:30You will appreciate a childcare solution
19:32We need somebody
19:35That you would trust in the very short term
19:38Is there anyone you can think of at all?
19:40I have a three
19:44Go ahead, I have a three
19:46In the interim
19:48Are you happy with the children
19:49Going to Dad's cousins in Bristol?
19:52I have you pointed
19:53That the children need to go straight into
19:55Emergency foster placements
19:57People that don't know
19:58What the dynamics of the family set up is currently
20:01We've got the kids
20:05We want to bring them down
20:06We can then get them in the car
20:07We'll get them away
20:08How are you, mate?
20:09You all right?
20:12That's a pistachy, isn't it?
20:14Very
20:15The guy was agitated
20:20But he wasn't out of control
20:23And at that point
20:25I realised
20:26He can show me
20:27He was
20:305'8
20:325'10
20:32Medium build
20:35He was about my age
20:38Maybe a little bit older
20:39Oh, boys
20:44Stephen's still up standing
20:46And so's that vehicle
20:47That was at both scenes
20:48So I think
20:49As soon as I can
20:50I want to get away
20:50And get looking for Stephen again
20:51I've just spoken to the next door neighbours
20:58Of first victim's address
21:00And they said that they've seen an older male
21:02Looking through the victim's letter box
21:04Just before this incident happened
21:05In relation to this outstanding closure
21:11Where did that last hit a camera?
21:14Last hit confirm
21:16Editing sound
21:16From that second address
21:18Is starting
21:19Heavy blood staining
21:31Around the driver's console area
21:33And in the boot
21:35There were two spent cartridges
21:37So Steve's got a bite
21:42More of everyone
21:42Nice water
21:43All right
21:44Has he been staying here long?
21:46Eh
21:46For a few weeks now
21:49There's a lot more
21:52Because there's all these cargo
21:55The tourist park
22:04They confirmed that Stephen Alderton
22:06Arrived with a mobile home
22:09And a small white car
22:11He lived there alone
22:14And it was on a rolling month basis
22:16This evening
22:18They see a white car
22:20Come on to site
22:22And they see Alderton's mobile home
22:24Leaving site
22:26Whilst officers try to locate Stephen Alderton
22:37In his motor home
22:38Welcome to us
22:41His son-in-law and daughter
22:43Are taken into custody
22:45So it's alleged that the suspect
22:53Has been involved
22:54In a murder of two miles
22:57We believe we've got the vehicle
23:07For Stephen Alderton
23:09Hitting cameras on the M6 northbound
23:11Yeah, the Fiat Swift in white
23:16We're thinking that he is in that vehicle
23:19Travelling that county
23:20Units currently on route
23:24To attempt to put a stop in
23:25On this car
23:25Did you think I'm going 4-1?
23:29We've just passed 3-5
23:31Over 5
23:32I'm going to find out
23:34A reduction
23:34I'm going to look for seven months
23:37Of honesty
23:37Yes, yes, mate
23:39We have got four hours
23:40In combo
23:40Hard riding this vehicle at the moment
23:42We are on the approach to junction 5
23:44To mark our
23:46Stay tight
23:48As we approach 5
23:49You take the offside
23:52We will take the near side
23:53And do the mic before 5
23:55And take the rear
23:56Okay, we're at 3-2-1s now
23:58Traffic are talking in for the sting
24:00Standby
24:01Okay, four, push through
24:03Sting is good
24:08Sting is good, over
24:09Good sting, let's go
24:10Good sting
24:10Good sting
24:11Okay, we'll light it up there then
24:14Let's go, bro
24:16Bigger, slow him
24:21Bigger, slow him
24:22Bigger, slow him
24:23Bad boy, bad boy
24:24Stop, stop, stop
24:25Yeah
24:26Oh, please
24:28Go over, man
24:29Hands up
24:30Hands up
24:31You, you, fucking
24:33Turn me out
24:34Police have tracked the suspect
24:45Of the double murder
24:46More than 100 miles
24:48From the crime scenes
24:49All the police
24:50Stay on the fucking
24:51Hands up
24:52Hands up
24:53Get out of the car
24:54You, get out of the fucking car now
24:58Get out of the car
24:58Hands up
25:00Keep your hands here
25:00You can see her
25:01Keep your hands around yourself
25:03Get out of the car
25:04Get out of the vehicle now
25:06Walk towards me
25:08Walk towards me
25:10Keep walking towards me
25:12Keep walking towards me
25:14Towards me
25:15Get down of the car
25:17Get down of the car
25:18Put your hands out now
25:19Hands out
25:20Put your hands out on your back
25:22On secure
25:24Okay, right, thank you
25:25Okay, let's get the vehicle cleared
25:27What's your name?
25:28What?
25:29Stephen Alder
25:30Stephen Alder
25:31Stephen Alder
25:31Stephen Alder
25:32Is there anybody else in that vehicle?
25:35No
25:36Okay, let's get the vehicle cleared
25:38Here for support if you need
25:41Thanks for that
25:42You got any weapons in the vehicle at all?
25:44Yes
25:44What have you got?
25:45I've got a shotgun
25:46Okay, shotgun is in the vehicle, fellas
25:48The air, if you're on TV, yeah
25:50So it's me up here
25:52Shotgun
25:52Shotgun found
25:58Oh, face it was yet
26:01It's not easy
26:03On your jeans on the top
26:07Mate, at this moment it's time
26:09You're under arrest on suspicion of murder
26:11Do you understand, guys?
26:15It is at the moment, yeah
26:16Don't show this a bit on TV
26:22You're under arrest on TV
26:23You're under arrest on TV
26:24You're under arrest on TV
26:25You're under arrest on TV
26:26With all three suspects detained
26:29Officers speak to the victim's family and friends
26:32To better understand the family dynamics
26:34In the run-up to the murders
26:36So part of why we're talking to you is just for us to try and sort of gather a bit of a picture
26:41Yeah
26:42I'm not sure what you're understanding of the court case with where that was at
26:46The court case?
26:48Well, my brother started it three to four years ago
26:51Oh wow, so long ago
26:52It's a long time
26:53Josh obviously has a son
26:55With Sam
26:56With Sam
26:59Now they split up
27:00Sam remarried an American Air Force Airman
27:04Paul
27:07She met Paul on the base
27:08They got together
27:10And had a baby
27:12So she has a daughter with Paul
27:14And a son with Josh
27:18Paul is posted back to the States
27:21She was going to move to America with Paul
27:26And so basically there's a court case going on
27:28To try and prevent her from taking the son to America
27:38Just follow around to that officer there for us please
27:42Me do one
27:43Stephen Alderton is brought to Worcester Police Station
27:46Good morning
27:47Good morning
27:48What's your name, sir?
27:49Stephen Alderton
27:52With a V or P-H?
27:53A P-H
27:55Do you suffer with any mental health issues like anxiety, depression?
28:00I don't think so
28:01I mean I would probably say there's a sort of degree of stress, anxiety
28:09How are you feeling at the moment in yourself?
28:12Well, I mean, it's not exactly the best day
28:15No
28:16No
28:17You know and
28:18So how are you feeling?
28:19How are you?
28:20Oh, I mean I'm not going to do anything
28:22I'm not going to try and, you know, pop myself or anything else like that
28:26So the circumstances please?
28:28The gentleman has been identified as being wanted and suspicion of murder
28:32Is it domestic or anything?
28:34Sort of
28:35Sort of
28:38Sort of
28:39Sarge, do you hear that?
28:40That's all
28:41That's all
28:42That's all
28:43That's all
28:44No, that's all
28:45No, that's all
28:46No, that's all
28:47Stephen Alderton will be held until the morning
28:53When he will be taken to Cambridgeshire
28:55Where all three suspects will be questioned on the murders
29:11Shocking news this morning
29:12A murder investigation is underway after two shootings in Cambridgeshire villages last night
29:17A 57 year old man was shot dead in Sutton and a 32 year old man in Blundersham
29:22Police were called to this quiet close where I am at the moment in the small village of Blundersham in Cambridgeshire
29:29You've got the blood which is on the floor there, so I'm just going to record that and swab it
29:35Not even an hour later, police were called to Sutton
29:38He was there, he led over in towards the radiator
29:44The shots were the first thing
29:45Yes
29:46Which I'm assuming is from the first shot
29:48Yes, that is the first shot
29:49And I think that he potentially maybe grabbed the barrel as it came through the door
29:54Notch, possibly
29:55It just feels a bit weird that it was like that
29:57Number two went in his body
29:59Yes
30:00Three and four while he's on the floor
30:02We collected the shot pellets from the wall and the staircase, as many as we could
30:07The tiny, tiny little pellets, the tiniest ones I've ever seen
30:17Do we know, I mean did Alderton regularly attend a gun club or anything, shooting range or anything like that, do we know?
30:23I think he was kind of doing like clay pigeon shooting
30:27Yeah
30:28But it wasn't like a regular hobby
30:32Pretty sure these cartridges as well were kind of clay pigeon shooting cartridges
30:36Right, okay
30:38Yeah, we have his gun licensing on the GP records
30:40Yeah
30:41And when you get your license refreshed, you have to get a note signed by GP saying
30:45To say you've got no mental health illnesses and stuff like that
30:48Yeah
30:49There's a doctor's report in that bundle
30:50Yeah, exactly
30:51A full GP report
30:53August 2022
30:55No acute stress reactions, no suicidal thoughts, self harm, no depression, no psychosis, no personality disorder
31:10The officer in the case, Detective Constable Claire Atkinson
31:14Reviews body worn footage of Stephen Alderton, following his arrest
31:18And then they're travelling and saying, you know it's a
31:22I come from a world where you're
31:25There's a family, and
31:28You're in life & family
31:31It actually makes me angry to watch it
31:33It's so...
31:35Blase
31:39It wasn't for a while, it appears to die for the street
31:44It's horrible, it's horrible to watch, just thinking that someone can be like that straight
32:01after doing something, it's like horrific, twice.
32:17While Stephen Alderton is processed through custody, detectives prepare to interview
32:21his daughter Samantha and her husband Paul.
32:24So where do you want that?
32:25So that needs to be first, isn't it?
32:27And then her understanding of conspiracy?
32:29Yes.
32:30That's all covered.
32:31Yeah, that's all covered.
32:32I'm going to just cover as well, any correspondence with Dad.
32:36On Monday the 27th of March was court day, wasn't it?
32:42This week, Josh and my Dad and my Mum, they've all been to court and they've had a good court
32:48session where my brother's son, he's got to stay.
32:54Sam and Paul sort of lost their battle, I suppose.
32:59And they were both extremely annoyed about their outcome from that court.
33:04So this interview is being recorded and it may be used in evidence if your case is brought
33:19to trial.
33:20today, Paul, you've been arrested for an offensive conspiracy to murder.
33:26A conspiracy is where two or more people discuss an offense that's going to take place.
33:33Samantha, you are being interviewed in relation to conspiracy to murder.
33:40On Monday the 27th of March 2023, you attended a family court hearing custody of your son who
33:46you shared with Joshua Dunmore.
33:48Then, on Wednesday the 29th of March 2023, Joshua Dunmore was shot and murdered at his home
33:54address.
33:55On the same day, Gary Dunmore was shot and murdered at his home address.
33:59So, you were saying to me, the first time you were aware that something had happened was
34:05when the police came to the holiday in this morning and you're saying you are not implicated
34:09that in any way.
34:10We understand if this is correct, yours and Sam's plan is to start a life in America.
34:19And, obviously, the problem you've got is being co-parents, being Josh, and they don't
34:24want him to go to America by the sound of it.
34:28We've disclosed to you as a solicitor that Steve has also been arrested and that at the
34:32time of his arrest there was a shotgun in his car.
34:36The clear implication in our minds is that Steve has committed this offense.
34:41I think what we're asking is, can you understand why he would go and do this?
34:47It's a bit confusing with all these screens, isn't it?
35:10Yeah, no, no, no, it's fine.
35:13So, have you got an interview up there?
35:16OK, so we've written a deal before.
35:18He's very upset about what's happened.
35:20He was in tears in an interview and he said that everything was OK in relation to the situation
35:25with Joshua.
35:26There's been various court hearings over a period of time.
35:31The one that occurred this Monday, basically they say that no decision was made in relation to Stephen.
35:39He'd come to the hotel that evening with them after court and was being very helpful, very logical about it.
35:45He was putting forward ideas about how they could solve the situation.
35:48There was no inkling as far as Paul was concerned as to what was happening in course, obviously, last night.
35:57Samantha's account is very similar.
36:00She's obviously very upset about what's happened.
36:03She said that she'd spoken to Stephen about it on the Monday after the hearing.
36:08And although he was disappointed with it, he seemed pretty OK.
36:14Stephen, do you want anyone told that you're here at the police station?
36:18Well, I'll probably need to notify my daughter.
36:24She said originally she didn't have a great deal to do with her dad,
36:28but their relationship only kind of really formed after her mum died in December of 2019.
36:35He meets her every single morning at the hotel.
36:40So she said he gets up early, always has done, and he meets them there.
36:44OK, Stephen, do you mind just giving me a signature on the pad there, just between the white lines?
36:50Just make sure you're in between the white lines, so it hasn't quite registered.
36:53Just in between the white lines, Stephen, I think it might have just been a bit underneath.
36:57Oh, there?
36:59Yeah, so actually in between the white lines.
37:02Oh, in there, yeah. OK, there we go.
37:07On the day the 29th, they spent most of the day where Paul works
37:13and then got a call from Stephen.
37:16Stephen was due to pick up the child from school,
37:19but Stephen said that he couldn't do it for whatever reason.
37:25He said he was busy.
37:30The last one they saw Stephen, they were at McDonald's Wednesday afternoon,
37:34and he dropped off a buggy for them.
37:38She said that she had no contact with her dad that evening,
37:41so that's their last contact they have with him,
37:43and that's about 2.45 in the afternoon.
37:47And she says he kind of sort of races away.
37:49She's really shocked. I mean, as far as she's concerned,
37:52they've put things in place, whatever the eventuality was going to be,
37:58whether they got custody, whether they didn't get custody.
38:03She's got no reason to lie, I don't think.
38:07Do you want some socks?
38:11Oh, yeah, I've got socks.
38:13Yeah, thank you.
38:14Do they not give you any socks in West Matthew?
38:16No, no, just give us shoes.
38:17No, we'll give you some socks, it's not a problem.
38:19They're nice in Cambridge here.
38:21Yeah, well, actually, I mean, having never been to the police station,
38:25I thought they actually did quite nice in Cambridge.
38:27There you go, mate.
38:28So, I'm having a chat with CBS, they're engaged.
38:34So, obviously, we've got an interview of Stephen tonight,
38:40and I hope you'll have that account.
38:42Maybe, obviously, if he does talk in an interview,
38:45it may be a case of actually with no CPS.
38:53Come on, Stephen.
38:54Come and take a seat.
38:55Do you want to take a seat in the corner there?
38:57I'm going to make the presumption
38:59you've not been in a police station
39:01or interviewed by the police before.
39:03No. Yeah, that's what I thought.
39:07I've not sat across the table from somebody
39:10who's just shot two people in the head before.
39:17A retired professional who's never been in trouble with the police,
39:21that's not who you expect to sit across from
39:24when you're asking them about executing two people
39:26on their doorsteps.
39:32Do you understand what offence you've been arrested for today?
39:35Um...
39:36Can I stop you there? I'll remind you of your right to silence.
39:39Oh, no comment.
39:40So, you understand you've been arrested for an offence of murder, OK?
39:50Are you saying no comment because you are responsible for the murder
39:54and you have no explanation to give?
39:57No comment.
39:58Are there any questions that I could ask that you would answer at the moment?
40:04I don't know what questions you would be asking.
40:07I could only respond to that based on the question that you put to me.
40:10Tell me about your relationship with Samantha.
40:16No comment.
40:18Is she your daughter?
40:19No comment.
40:21Are these murders related to Samantha and Paul?
40:25No comment.
40:26No comment.
40:29The thought process is this has started from the family court hearing.
40:36Is this what's led to Joshua and Gary being shot?
40:41Is that accurate?
40:42No comment.
40:43No comment.
40:46Is this a plan to clear the way so that Samantha can move really to America?
40:53No comment.
40:58The grandchildren, they've been taken into what we call protective custody
41:02and that's mainly because there's nobody to look after them.
41:06Yes, all I would say to respond to that is, you know,
41:13You don't need to account for that.
41:16No comment.
41:21Not only are you here on suspicion of committing two violent murders,
41:34but your daughter and your son-in-law are also in custody
41:40under investigation for conspiring because we don't know what's going on.
41:47It's all, if your daughter and son-in-law have nothing to do with it,
41:53we don't want to keep them here any longer than is necessary.
41:58So I can only plead to you to talk to us.
42:01Yeah, I mean, my only concern is what you've said there is...
42:11I'll stop you there.
42:12They have had their own interviews to give their own accounts.
42:15Stephen, I appreciate that you've been given legal advice not to answer any of our questions.
42:24But it is just that. It's advice.
42:26And it is for you to choose whether to take it or not.
42:30Ultimately, this is your opportunity to explain what happened and why.
42:36Yeah, um...
42:38There's a new Englishman set. No comment.
42:40Yeah.
42:42OK.
42:44OK.
42:45Right.
42:46In that case, I propose that we look at concluding the interview.
42:50OK?
42:51So the time by my watch is now 29 minutes past midnight and I'm concluding the interview.
43:02Right, he's not going to talk.
43:05He's been given his legal advice.
43:07I'm not going to push it.
43:09Let him think that that is the end and that was his opportunity to talk and he's missed it.
43:16Hey, you all right?
43:19We're out of interview.
43:21You're out of interview?
43:22Hi.
43:23That was not as long as I was expecting.
43:24That was because Mr Tom sent a comment.
43:26Yeah, we'll just hang around just in case he's begging to want to talk to us.
43:30Because I think he wants to.
43:31He wants to.
43:32He really wants to.
43:35Your daughter.
43:37Speak for her, for God's sake.
43:41What a shame.
43:46When Stephen set out with his plan, did he really, truly think through the impact it'd have on his family?
43:57Towels and clothing, underwear, socks.
44:01Brush.
44:02The other ones you get at the airport.
44:07Right, I will shut off this block to everybody else.
44:15Watch.
44:17You brought two trousers, we just need a cop.
44:22She's not saying that, no, no, no.
44:24Do your bottoms!
44:26No, we've got two bottoms, we just need a cop.
44:28No worries Dad.
44:30Oi, this is you back.
44:33All the other ones that went on, Sam.
44:37I am not breathing as well.
44:4012.
44:45Yeah, well, I'll make it a statement later, Sam.
44:48Try not to talk.
44:50OK, fine.
44:59There are hundreds of family court battles going on
45:02every day of the week, and they don't end in a double shooting.
45:06It's a totally needless event.
45:12Joshua and Gary didn't need to die.
45:21I'm moving away from considering that this was a conspiracy to murder
45:24and towards Alderton acting alone.
45:27The gentleman you're about to read to you, mate, has got weirder
45:29and weirder as the day's gone.
45:32He wants to talk.
45:36And you can find out if he does tomorrow night at nine,
45:41and you'll find details about support that's available
45:44for any of the issues featured in the programme
45:46at channel4.com slash support.
45:49Next tonight, someone hasn't been saying nothing,
45:51and that's going to be a problem.
45:53Our new drama continues in just a few.
45:55that Nick Emmett continues in just a few.
45:57that Nick Emmett continues in just a few.
45:58that Nick Emmett continues in just a few.
