00:00Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with French, German and British leaders in London
00:07on Monday in what German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called a decisive time for peace talks
00:12to end Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
00:16Following the talks, Merz said he was skeptical over certain aspects of the US-backed peace deal.
00:22We are still and remain strongly behind Ukraine and giving support to your country
00:28because we all know that the destiny of this country is the destiny of Europe.
00:33So that's the reason why we are here, trying to figure out what we can do.
00:36And nobody should doubt on our support for Ukraine.
00:41Europeans are expected to shoulder the bulk of security guarantees
00:45if a ceasefire is struck between the two warring countries.
00:48Leaders have been scrambling to ensure their position is heard
00:51ever since Washington's peace plan that heavily favored Russia was leaked in late November.
00:56And now I think the main issue is the convergence between our common positions,
01:03Europeans and Ukrainians, and the US to finalize these negotiations
01:08and re-engage in new faith in the best possible conditions for Ukraine,
01:13for the Europeans and for our collective security.
01:16The show of support comes after US President Donald Trump criticized Zelensky,
01:22telling reporters on Sunday that the Ukrainian president hadn't read the proposal.
01:27Zelensky was expected in Brussels on Monday evening
01:29for talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte
01:32and EU Chiefs Ursula von der Leyen and Antonia Kosta.
