00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:03Selhurst Park in the Croydon South Norwood area of London has been home to Crystal Palace
00:08FC since 1924.
00:11The ground was built on land bought in 1922 for just Β£2,750 designed by famous stadium
00:18architect Archibald Leight and officially opened on the 30th of August in 1924.
00:25The first match saw Crystal Palace take on Sheffield Wednesday in front of a crowd of
00:30around 25,000 fans.
00:33Over the decades Selhurst Park has hosted more than just club football.
00:37It staged an international match between England's national football team vs Wales in 1926 and
00:44the 1948 Summer Olympics as well as concerts and other sports.
00:50For now though, it's very much home to South London's Crystal Palace Football Club.
