00:00How is it you initially got into working with Save the Children?
00:04Well, it was about 15 or so years ago when I just had my own son and I was asked to do a voiceover for Save the Children.
00:16And it was about this was a particular program about it was called Born to Shine.
00:21And it was just about how every child deserves a childhood, really.
00:26And it was about a wee girl who was living on a slum colony in India.
00:33And I remember doing the narration and I went, sorry, I have to stop.
00:37I have to stop because I got so emotional about it.
00:41And I was just like, this is this is so unfair.
00:43This is I mean, I was always aware of it, but I don't know whether it was because I had become a mum.
00:49And I just was like, oh, no, this is this is so unfair that some children, there's such disparity.
00:55I've seen firsthand where the money goes.
00:58I mean, it goes to, you know, child friendly spaces in migrant camps or supplying things for a baby, a baby clinic in Tanzania or a baby bank in Bath.
01:14You know, it's literally everywhere.
01:17Learning, learning centers for children that don't have access to them.
01:22So it's incredibly extensive, the work that they do.
01:25And I feel very proud to be part of part of that message.
01:28I think for a while, people used to think that Save the Children only help children that were overseas.
01:34But it says there is as much work done here as there is overseas.
01:40And since Christmas this Christmas Jumper Day campaign that they initiated in 14 years ago, they've raised 40 million pounds for children around the world and here as well.
01:53I went to somewhere in Cardiff and there was a wee corner where there was some beanbags and I was like, what's that for?
02:01And it was like for wee children that maybe I come from a difficult background and maybe I'd not had any sleep so they can get a wee sleep and a bit of toast when they get to school.
02:10And I found I was like, you know, this is this is not just something that's far afield and something that's not tangible.
02:17It's here and it's now and it's on our doorstep.
02:20So in any donation that is made will will go to actually helping children.
