वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने स्पष्ट किया है कि वर्ष 2025 के लिए प्रस्तावित नया हेल्थ और नेशनल सिक्योरिटी सेस केवल पान मसाला जैसे डिमेरिट गुड्स पर ही लागू होगा। सरकार के इस निर्णय की राज्यसभा सांसद सुधा मुर्ति ने सराहना की है। सुधा मुर्ति ने कहा कि पान मसाला पर GST बढ़ाने से प्राप्त होने वाला पैसा अगर देश की स्वास्थ्य सुरक्षा को मजबूत बनाने में उपयोग किया जाता है, तो यह बेहद सराहनीय कदम होगा।

उनका मानना है कि इस फंड का उपयोग केवल स्वास्थ्य ढांचा बेहतर करने तक सीमित नहीं होना चाहिए, बल्कि इसे आम लोगों में स्वास्थ्य संबंधी जागरूकता बढ़ाने के लिए भी लगाया जाना चाहिए। जिससे समाज में सकारात्मक बदलाव लाया जा सके।
