Japan dominate Day 2 with spectacular performances in Tokyo

Day 2 in Tokyo showcased Japan’s strength as Kondo, Tanaka, Abe, Ikeda, Tanaka Ryuga and Oino all claimed gold, with Korea securing a strong +78kg result through Hyeonji Lee. An intense final day delivered a fitting conclusion to the 2025 Tokyo Grand Slam.

00:00Welcome to Day 2 of the Park 24 Group Tokyo Grand Slam 2025.
00:05The stage was set for a dramatic finish to the competition.
00:08At under 60kg, Hayato Kondo of Japan claimed the first gold of the day
00:13with an Ippon that took the entire stadium by surprise.
00:20Harvest Group CEO Mr. Almaz Alsinov was on hand to award the medal.
00:24The under 70kg category saw current world champion Shiho Tanaka of Japan
00:31come up with a hold down to secure her a yuko and the gold medal.
00:39This is a very important competition to win because all the Japanese people are watching.
00:45The medals were awarded by IJF Secretary General Dr. Lisa Allen.
00:49At under 66kg, Hifumi Abe's day had been tough.
00:52In the quarter-finals, going Awazari down,
00:56he snatched victory in the final seconds,
01:01followed by an exhausting seven-minute golden score battle in the semi-final.

02:05Top seed Hyunji Lee of Korea secured her podium in the plus-78kg final with a clinically executed submission of her teammate.

02:26It was Yuhei Oino of Japan who would take gold in the last final of the day at under 81kg.
