00:00ДИНАМИЧНАЯ МУЗЫКА
00:30But maybe Pat Spencer in the starting lineup has something to say about that.
00:33The conversation about Pat has moved on from should he get more minutes
00:37to now the conversation is should his two-way contract be converted?
00:42And he's in kind of a tough situation.
00:45He's played in 23 of his 50-game limit as a two-way player,
00:49but it has to be something the Warriors consider
00:52getting him on this roster as a converted player.
00:55I think a lot of y'all, I feel like this question wouldn't be a thing
00:58if we didn't have other players on this team
01:01that already have built-up narratives within the Warriors.
01:05And I'm talking about Brandon Podemski.
01:07We've all been waiting for the Brandon Podemski moment
01:09where he can step in as a starting point guard alongside Stephen Curry,
01:13and I believe a lot of people still believe in him to be able to do that.
01:16But that's why we're hesitant on the Pat Spencer aspect of he comes in
01:20and organizes immediately.
01:22And because there's this kind of clash in between these two
01:25and they're kind of being compared against each other,
01:26that's why that question happens.
01:28I'd rather find a way in which those two can coexist
01:31and they can be on the floor together
01:33or they can be on the floor and be, you know,
01:35played off of each other alongside Steph when Stephen's back.
01:38But I don't even think this is a question.
01:40Pat Spencer does what he's supposed to do when he goes out on the floor.
01:43He's incredibly productive.
01:44He's helpful to this team.
01:45And it wouldn't be a question if he was on another roster
01:47and there wasn't another person that's been waiting
01:50for that starting position role.
01:51I'm so hyped because Pat Spencer is forcing everybody's hand.
01:54He's saying, I'm just going to come in the game
01:56and I will make sure that you can't take me out of it.
01:59I'm going to do everything right.
02:00I'm going to play the pick-on-roll right.
02:02I'm going to come off, get to my spots, get other guys organized.
02:05What he is doing is he's making the players around him better.
02:09In addition to, he's also improved from the three-point line.
02:11This year, I think he's shooting 35% from the three-point line.
02:14Last year, he shot 22%.
02:16So he's putting the work in making shots.
02:18But the biggest aspect of Pat Spencer's game
02:20is the fact that everybody around him just plays better
02:22because he's getting them to the right spots.
02:24And that's what his point guard is supposed to do.
02:26We have some toughness and some anger, too.
02:27And in some situations, the Warriors have been missing out on that.
02:31All right.
02:31We need that, Swagger.
02:32Let's take a look at the team's defense right now.
02:34The defensive ratings, because wait, wait, wait a minute.
02:37The Warriors are below .500, but they are getting it done on defense
02:40with this defensive rating.
02:41And that's something we need to hear from
02:43with Fitz and Buki courtside right now at Rocket Arena.
02:46Well, the Warriors are an interesting stretch right now
02:51because all their main guys are injured.
02:54And yet, down the roster, they're playing pretty good basketball.
02:58Now, you don't want to keep getting down 20
03:00and try to have these miracle comebacks.
03:03But if you're Pat Spencer and Guy Santos and Quentin Post and Buddy Heald,
03:08I think Steve Kerr appreciates the depth of the roster playing so hard.
03:11Those are some of the bright spots.
03:13And with those guys, okay, the main thing I think about with them
03:16is the intensity they play with.
03:18That's their baseline.
03:19Spirit, they come with the right spirit every single time.
03:22They battle and play as hard as they can.
03:24That's your baseline.
03:25Then I think about, okay, what have they added to their games?
03:28Pat Spencer, he's shooting it much better.
03:30He's one of the best three-point shooters on the Warriors right now.
03:33And you think about his mid-range pick and role play,
03:35his ball handling, his facilitating, all have gotten so much better.
03:39Quentin Post, we've been talking about him defensively.
03:41The way he can move his feet, guard on the perimeter, containing.
03:44And then Guy Santos' last game had like a spin move,
03:47like two inches away from the basket somehow.
03:50That was one of the plays of the game.
03:51So all these guys are adding to their games,
03:53but never forgetting their identity, the spirit they play with.
03:56And the thing for the Warriors is none of the injuries are long-term.
04:00You're going to get Steph back and Jimmy back and Draymond back
04:03and Al Horford back and Seth Curry back
04:05and D'Anthony Melton back by Monday.
04:07I mean, that's the issue.
04:08They're going to have four days off.
04:09So you have tonight and you have Chicago.
04:12But I think in the next couple weeks when you see full Warriors,
04:15the intensity of the lower roster guys is going to help the team overall.
04:19Absolutely.
04:20And you've got reinforcements coming.
04:21But you do feel like with these games that the big guns are missing,
04:25you have to win some of these.
04:27You're going to need to win some of them.
04:28I'm not saying that's going to happen tonight,
04:30but that's the mentality of the guys playing.
04:32And then as a team, you want to consistently be a little more mindful with your attack.
04:37Just overall, no matter who's playing out there, kind of diagnose the game.
04:41How many threes have we missed in a row?
04:42Have we gotten to the basket?
04:44Have we broken the paint?
04:45Are we making them work as hard as possible defensively?
04:48And that's with everything because we've seen it.
04:50When the Warriors are rolling and the ball's flying around and it has energy
04:53and everybody's having fun, they're tough to beat.
04:55And so they have to remember that.
04:57If you're struggling with your shooting, that's one thing.
05:02But defensively, I think that's impacted by the way you start the game
05:06with your intensity and how hard you want to play.
05:08That's going to carry over.
05:09So even with a bunch of injured guys, you know the Warriors are capable of big comebacks.
05:14I think the story for tonight is start better so you're down 20
05:18and have to have some miracle comeback.
05:20We'll see.
05:21Different guys are going to get a starting lineup opportunity maybe to change that tonight.
05:27Great.
05:27Thanks, guys.
05:28And we're going to circle back to what we led the show with.
05:31The Warriors are possible with that fight.
05:33Battling back from down 22 against OKC.
05:35Battling back from down 24 against the Sixers.
05:38So they have it in them.
05:40Now, what they don't have is a lot of players.
05:42Ten guys tonight with six guys out on this injury report.
05:46What looks good for the Warriors tonight?
05:48What are the keys to this game to make sure they are competing and in this game?
05:52All right.
05:52So it makes Steve Kerr's job easy because now he knows who's going to play,
05:56who he's not going to play.
05:57All right.
05:57You only have ten guys.
05:58So you have five guys and five subs.
06:00So what I want to see tonight is starting off the game, putting a lot of pressure on the rim.
06:05I want to see JK.
06:07I want to see QP pick and roll, get into the rim.
06:10I want to see Pat Spencer getting to the teeth of the defense and then creating shots for there from the team.
06:15I think that's the better way to shoot from the three-point line.
06:17The Warriors, they have the highest three-point percentage in the league.
06:21At least they're taking the most threes in the league right now.
06:24With that, you've got to make the most shots and get the most efficient shots.
06:27And I think Moses Moody, Brandon Pajemski, Buddy Hill, these guys can get better quality shots from the three-point line when they get into the teeth of the defense.
06:34Yeah, tonight, this is an opportunity.
06:36I want the young Warriors to step up and not be afraid of the moment to showcase why they deserve more minutes, why they deserve to be in the rotation.
06:43Like, this is – when you think about a young player's narrative and their story that they're writing right now in the NBA, like, this could be a pivotal moment.
06:50This could be one of those ones that we write back.
06:51Remember that Cavaliers game when Pat Spencer dropped 30 or Guy Santos came off the bench for 20 and, you know, whatever it is?
06:58That's what I want to see out of these young Warriors is to take this opportunity to show, one, to Steve Kerr that they deserve to be out there.
07:06But, two, to tell the older guys, when the playoffs come, that's what we're trying to get to, we'll be ready.
07:12We'll know what our identity is when we come back as role players.
07:15And this is an opportunity for them to learn that.
07:17That is so important, too.
07:18The veterans on this team are watching.
07:20They want to know that they are going to be backed up, okay, in this competition, especially at guard.
07:24When you have eight guards, plus Steph Curry, he's the given.
07:27Eight guards looking for playing time.
07:29Okay, who can differentiate themselves?
07:31Who can dictate winning for team?
07:34The Warriors want to end this little two-game skid they're on.
07:37We'll see what they can accomplish against the Cavaliers on the front end of a back-to-back.
07:47The closer.
07:54Stop two on the three-game road trip for the Dubs in Cleveland, Ohio.
08:05A little chilly outside.
08:07And the Warriors want their shooting to heat up a bit more as they take on the Cavs tonight.
08:13Hello, everybody.
08:14Bob Fitzgerald alongside Kalena Azubuki.
08:16Now, the Warriors are going to only have ten players in uniform tonight.
08:20They have had some miraculous comebacks, but it hasn't been paid off with a win.
08:23And yet, the spirit of the team is still pretty good.
08:26True.
08:27And this means more opportunities for guys that have been having a big impact, like a Pat Spence.
08:31So, you'll probably see him starting tonight.
08:33But you think about the way you played in that second half against the Sixers.
08:37Don't forget your formula there.
08:39And just start the game with the right spirit, the right intensity, and see what happens.
08:43You can compete.
08:44Well, if you look at the Warriors against OKC, against Philly, get down big,
08:49and then come all the way back to take the lead.
08:51The Kaiser Permanente teamwork in action.
08:54It's different lineups, but there's a lot of guys that were ready when they called upon.
08:58It's the way they played together.
08:59They got downhill into the paint in a lot of different ways.
09:03You've got some ball screens.
09:04Defenders are staying up.
09:06You're rolling to the basket.
09:07You're driving in there.
09:08And never forget about your cutting.
09:10Someone's driving from one direction.
09:12You can cut from the other direction.
09:14You just play out of the simple plays, like the ball screens, like the split action.
09:17Then you go drawing kicks, flowing to your next action.
09:21You just want to keep that continuity up.
09:23But, again, your baseline has to be the spirit you play with.
09:26Bring that intensity from the jump on both sides of the ball.
09:29Maybe afford some turnovers.
09:30Get out and transition.
09:32Get some easy buckets.
09:33Everybody feeling good.
09:34Now, Cleveland is an elite team in the East.
09:36You know that.
09:36But think of the Warriors' run and leading scorers.
09:39Shea Gilgis-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey, now Donovan Mitchell tonight.
09:44They're touring the top five in scoring in the NBA.
09:48Slowing down Mitchell, easier said than done.
09:50This guy is explosive.
09:52And he's got the change of pace, too.
09:54He's going to score inside.
09:55He's going to hit the three balls on.
09:56He's got mid-range game.
09:58This is the guy you'll probably see the Warriors double-team at times.
10:01And what do I always say about double-teams?
10:03You've got to mix the double-teams good.
10:04But then you've got to rotate out of it.
10:06This team can struggle to shoot at times.
10:08So, probably a really good game to double-team even more if you can.
10:11So, you think about it.
10:13Ten healthy guys.
10:14Most of your stars are out tonight.
10:16You've had these great comebacks.
10:18But can you pay it off with a win?
10:19That is the biggest challenge.
10:21Scoring tonight could be a challenge as well because they have the defensive player of the year.
10:26One of the elite bigs in the league.
10:29Mr. Mobley is ready on the inside.
10:32The Cavs and Donovan Mitchell, a huge challenge.
10:34Did the Dubs get a win on this trip in the middle game?
10:37Kareth and the crew back in the studio.
10:39Or you drive to kick the other guys.
10:42That's exactly what I was going to say.
10:43On defense, on his defensive aspect, do not fear Evan Mobley.
10:47Make him block you.
10:48Make him have to guard you.
10:49And hopefully get him in foul trouble.
10:50Look at us giving away the secrets for big people.
10:52Pat Spencer getting his first career start.
10:56We'll see if he can organize this offense with only ten players tonight.
10:59Saturday night in Cleveland, beginning of a back-to-back for the Warriors.
11:08They are missing Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Seth Curry, D'Anthony Melton.
11:15But they do have ten guys that are ready to roll.
11:20And in his 61st NBA game, Pat Spencer gets his first career start.
11:24I love it.
11:25Kalena, you live through this where you make the league, you get an opportunity.
11:30And Pat, the last couple games, has been brilliant.
11:33Well, listen, when Pat Spencer comes in the game, everything changes for the better for the Warriors.
11:38So why not start him?
11:39See if you can get that punch right off the bat.
11:42Intensity, heart, the right spirit.
11:45He has all those things in spades.
11:47And that's what you want for the Warriors, to start this game.
11:50Start better than you did against the Sixers.
11:52Bring that force from the jump, that intensity.
11:54Be the more aggressive team.
11:56And then the balance to your attack.
11:58Both of these teams, the Cavaliers, the Warriors, they both rely on the three ball a ton.
12:02They both shoot the most threes in the league.
12:05Who can establish that presence inside first?
12:07Can you get downhill?
12:08Remember what you did in the second half against the Sixers.
12:11Ball screens, cutting, all the things you did there.
12:15And then you have to take care of the ball.
12:16It's one thing that the Cavs have done to kind of keep themselves afloat offensively, still top ten, is forced turnovers.
12:24They get out and score.
12:25Easy buckets on the other end.
12:26Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Tyson, the Cal product.
12:30With DeAndre Hunter and Evan Mobley for Cleveland, who beat San Antonio last night.
12:34The lob and the undercut.
12:36As Pat Spencer fouls Evan Mobley.
12:38Last night, the Cavs had 80 points in the pace.
12:42I watched that game, and I couldn't believe the number.
12:47They didn't shoot threes and went inside.
12:49But if you said it, the Warriors and the Cavs, half their shots are threes.
12:54Halftime against the Spurs, they were down.
12:56And that's what Atkinson said was the biggest adjustment.
12:58They got downhill.
12:59A lot of ball screens, drives.
13:02They got the personnel to do it.
13:03They got to make that adjustment at times.
13:05And Garland throwing the lob and Mobley cashing it in.
13:08So for the Warriors, Pat Spencer, Buddy Heald, Will Richard, Jonathan Kaminga, and Quinton Post.
13:14This group has not played together at all, let alone start a game.
13:18Not much so you keep it simple here.
13:21There's only ten Warriors in uniform.
13:25Look at guys on the bench, and you're running out of bodies.
13:28Quinton Post opens with the three.
13:30Well, you rejected the screen, and Quinton Post popped.
13:33His man kind of was in the paint, so Donovan Mitchell had to help, but he was indecisive.
13:37It gave him time to shoot it.
13:39Mobley, Defensive Player of the Year, becoming a budding star offensively, all-NBA second team a year ago.
13:46The problem for him is Quinton Post is getting better defensively, like you saw there.
13:51Quinton a little show-and-go.
13:53Down the lane to lay it up and out, but that is a great move and an adjustment.
13:56Right decision.
13:58Yandre Hunter in on Will Richard, played the D, and Pat Spencer knocked it away.
14:01Pat just stayed with it, made sure they didn't get a dump back.
14:06Well, this is an opportunity game for Donovan Kaminga, because they need his offense in a huge way.
14:11Missed the bank shot, taking it inside.
14:15Yandre Hunter rocks into a triple.
14:18Back out to Donovan Mitchell, leads the NBA in threes.
14:22Hunter a second opportunity.
14:23You can tell, but he healed the rebound.
14:25Hunter is trying to get himself going.
14:26He hasn't shot it well to start this season, as well as he's capable of 32% for three-point range.
14:31But as long as you can test their threes, you live with some of them.
14:36How do you heal?
14:37Didn't settle for the three.
14:38Little runner in the lane gets his own rebound and puts it up and out.
14:41So the intentionality to get inside has been there.
14:45You like the thought process.
14:46More mindfulness to their attack.
14:51Mitchell back out to Mobley.
14:52He has that range, but shot it flat.
14:55And Will Richard stunted.
14:56It was a pick and pop.
14:57You give your teammate time to get back out there.
15:00Just take him out of rhythm.
15:04Cleveland starting one of seven.
15:05The Warriors starting one of five.
15:10Shot clock at eight.
15:13Domingo will launch over Hunter and miss that three.
15:16Kind of a slower start shooting for both teams.
15:26Donovan Mitchell.
15:27Here's your double.
15:2930 points a game.
15:30They've gone through Shea.
15:31They've gone through Tyrese Maxey.
15:33Now Mitchell seeing four of their three of the top five scorers in the league.
15:37And Garland unable to finish there.
15:39He's been playing with that surgically repaired turf toe.
15:42That big toe.
15:43I mean, you're trying to push off of that thing.
15:46Play through pain.
15:48That's Spencer finding Quinton Post and just short on that.
15:55Warriors will play Chicago tomorrow.
15:57They're expecting to get a few more bodies back.
16:00Is Mitchell unable to score?
16:02Warriors are making everything tough at the rim.
16:04Well, it's kind of an in-between shot.
16:06But Pat Spencer moved his feet enough.
16:07And Pat Spencer right to the rim.
16:09Again, attacking the basket.
16:11And you run the floor.
16:12You get it.
16:13And you make your quick move.
16:14Don't give him any time to recover.
16:15Pat Spencer saw he was going to have an angle to the basket if he went quick.
16:20Godre Hunter coming over from Atlanta.
16:22Mid-season a year ago for Isaac Okoro.
16:25Galen Tyson.
16:26He's been the hottest cow.
16:27But good contest by Buddy Heal.
16:29He clogged it up.
16:30Made the big man pass it.
16:32Get out and contest as well as you can.
16:34That's the intensity you're looking for.
16:37They're putting Tyson on Pat Spencer.
16:40They've seen him on tape.
16:41Where Pat's breaking the paint and setting people up.
16:44Now Kaminga stop and then rise.
16:48And J.K. just off iron.
16:50Mid-range jumper.
16:51He struggled with that at times.
16:52Threw a hesitation at him.
16:53Mobley full head of steam.
16:56Nice shot.
16:58He's nice with it.
16:59He's having a good season.
17:01They want to use his playmaking ability and his ball handling skills more and more.
17:06He averages 19-9.
17:07And then, you already said, defensive player of the year.
17:10And you've got a good glimpse why.
17:12Sending Kaminga away.
17:15DeAndre Hunter will draw the foul and flip it up and in.
17:18On the other side, you had the right idea trying to expose Garland.
17:22But Mobley is a problem defensively.
17:24He's got that length.
17:25He always knows when he's needed.
17:28When it's his turn to help.
17:30He's able to get there.
17:32Kaminga couldn't finish.
17:33And you're off to the races on the other side.
17:37And this is a tough team.
17:38I'm sure Cavaliers fans, with the amazing offensive season they had last year,
17:43when they were the best in the league, second best ever offensively,
17:46didn't expect for them to be 18th field goal percentage this year, 22nd from three-point range with that percentage.
17:54But there's just kind of been a malaise over this Cavs team with all the injuries.
17:58And that's really affected them offensively.
18:00So, they got some guys stepping up, though.
18:03And you think about Donovan Mitchell doing his thing.
18:06But Tyson has been unbelievable, a cow product.
18:10And he's, you know, didn't use more in the offense.
18:14So, second foul on Pat Spencer.
18:16So, but Jemsky's got to check in.
18:18And I don't want to gloss over what you just said.
18:20The second most efficient offense a year ago in NBA history.
18:25Yeah.
18:26121 points per 100 possessions.
18:28Yeah, there's Kenny Atkinson.
18:30I actually knew him before he became a head coach at Brooklyn.
18:32He was an assistant coach with the Knicks when I was there.
18:35And when he talks basketball, you can feel his passion.
18:38It's palpable.
18:40Obviously, Kenny, great job as a Warrior assistant.
18:43He had the job after helping win a title with Steve Kerr.
18:47Will Richard had to beat the shot clock buzzer.
18:49And Tyson with the rebound.
18:51Craig Porter has checked in.
18:53But Jemsky and TJD for the dubs.
18:55And Garland will pick up a foul.
18:57And you mentioned Craig Porter.
18:58That's another good story.
19:00I'll tell you after this.
19:02Offense has been an issue on the road trip.
19:04First stoppage with the Cavs up one.
19:06Team third, timeout Cavaliers.
19:14River Rock Casino, join us December 31st for your chance to win a Mercedes.
19:20All right, New Year's Eve, drive away in Mercedes.
19:23I like it.
19:24Wow.
19:24Cavs lead at one with 6.55 remaining in the first.
19:29Neither team shooting it.
19:30But a year ago, you mentioned Decay, the Great Resort and Casino winning.
19:35Kenny was coach of the year.
19:36Donovan Mitchell, all everything.
19:38Evan Mobley, defensive player of the year.
19:40Second best offense of all time.
19:42They had the great beginning.
19:43They ran the Warriors out of the building when we came here on the road a year ago.
19:47But then, lost to Indy.
19:50Yeah.
19:50And Halliburton stole a couple games in that series.
19:52And there were some injuries in that series.
19:54And this year, their preferred starting lineup has only been on the court together three times.
19:59It's wild.
20:00How do you find any continuity there?
20:02But the good thing about the team is, month after month, they've shown improvement offensively.
20:07And that's all you can hope for.
20:08Just continue to build with what you got.
20:10And this guy, Darius Garland, you mentioned his big toe being hurt.
20:13That matters everything.
20:14With a guy like him that relies on his quickness and you're trying to push off of that thing.
20:18And every time you push off, the thing is throbbing.
20:20And you're trying to focus on your game and guarding these amazing NBA players.
20:25All you can think about is your foot.
20:26So, he's just trying to find some rhythm, get his legs back under him.
20:30Every time I see Darius Garland, I think of his dad, Winston Garland, former warrior.
20:35He's right in my prime being a fan.
20:38There you go.
20:38As a youngster, I love Winston Garland.
20:41Again, you're just trying to keep it simple with ball screens, handoffs, different angles.
20:46They're switching everything, though.
20:47So, you've got to beat your man off the dribble.
20:49Shot clock at three.
20:50Buddy healed three.
20:51And Buddy very patiently dropping that in.
20:53He just went draw and kick, and Tyson just left his feet.
20:57Not easy, but kept your poise under pressure if your buddy healed.
21:02Mobley inside, flipping it up and out.
21:04TJD, the defense and the board.
21:06Just trying to keep his game as close as possible.
21:08Nothing easy.
21:09Drake's running the floor.
21:11That was before Mobley ever got back down the court.
21:13That's what you want to do.
21:14See if you can beat him down.
21:15Anything you can find in transition.
21:17And Tyson couldn't catch it.
21:18That's nice.
21:22Minka set up Buddy healed because he hit one three.
21:25Unable to hit the second.
21:26Will Richard soaring in.
21:28And Buddy, third opportunity.
21:31And Will Richard fighting again for it and out of bounds.
21:34That's Warrior ball.
21:36This is the thing.
21:36The Warriors, okay, their identity when Steph Curry is playing,
21:41and it's pretty evident.
21:42You play through Steph Curry.
21:43You know how you want to play.
21:44But you bring intensity, especially when those guys aren't out here.
21:47Your big guns are missing.
21:48Pump fake for Buddy healed.
21:49Tyson leaves his feet.
21:51Nothing to it there.
21:52But now you're running.
21:53You're flying around.
21:54You're the more aggressive team.
21:55Anything you can get in transition before the defense is set,
21:58you want to go ahead and do that.
22:00That's going to be an offensive foul on a moving screen.
22:03And that's a little unfortunate on the baseline.
22:06You're just trying to play as hard as you can.
22:08And if you do that, Coach Curry will live with the mistakes.
22:11Yeah, Buddy healed was set in the screen,
22:13but was moving in the process.
22:15But for Trace, Guy Santos, Moses Moody, there's ten healthy guys.
22:20That's it.
22:20You're all playing tonight.
22:21Yeah.
22:22Your identity is the spirit you play with.
22:24Play as hard as you can.
22:26Bring the intensity every single night, especially nights like this.
22:29Mobley in and out of the hands of Hunter.
22:31But Garland flipping it up from the baseline.
22:36And then Craig Porter touched it.
22:37No.
22:38They'll say that the Warriors touched it last.
22:40Yeah.
22:41And Craig Porter, you mentioned him.
22:43He's an interesting story.
22:44So he started out his college career at Vincennes at Juco.
22:47And he won the Junior College National Championship,
22:51ends up at Wichita State.
22:53And then he signed a two-way contract here with the Cavaliers in February 2024
22:58and then got it converted.
23:00I mean, it's just an unbelievable story.
23:03Those are the best.
23:04When you see two-way guys play their way up, get a contract as Mobley gets inside.
23:08That's the dream, right?
23:09As an organization, you sign a two-way guy.
23:11You hope they develop to where you want to get them on the roster.
23:13I can think of a warrior that brings that conversation to mind.
23:16A little tic-tac-toe, but Kaminga couldn't hold it.
23:20Catches that, and it's a dunk.
23:21And then the Cavs give it right back.
23:25So Steve Kerr is getting everybody into the game because GP2 and Guy Santos will check in.
23:31You're tied at 10.
23:33You'll live with it.
23:34It's kind of been an ugly game here and there, but you're playing really hard.
23:38And you're in the game.
23:39And you never want to forget, as a player, especially in games like this,
23:42you get to play a game for a living.
23:44Come out here and enjoy it.
23:45Bring your all.
23:46Why wouldn't you?
23:47How can you have a bad attitude in these type of games?
23:51Yeah, the Warriors, it was, Steve Kerr called it a gut punch.
23:54That loss in Philly at the very end hurt.
23:57It really did.
23:58The spirit of the team was going to be challenged tonight on how they bounce back from it
24:02as Moody draws the foul.
24:04He fought so hard to fight back after getting off to a rough start.
24:08First of all, you want to get off to better starts, like I said.
24:11You don't want to sleepwalk through a whole quarter.
24:12But the way they battled back and the heart they showed, you even took the lead.
24:18So you crested the hill, which is so tough.
24:20I always said in games like that, it takes a higher level of focus to win.
24:24And it just takes one play, like the side out of bounds,
24:27where you can't get it in to lose a game.
24:29Moses Moody dropping in the free throw.
24:33The Golden State Community Foundation auction is open.
24:35All the proceeds support the foundation to positively impact youth organizations in the Bay.
24:40Place your bid at warriors.com slash auction.
24:43Make cornbread with Kalena Auzabuki.
24:46Come caddy for Kalena Auzabuki.
24:48There's all kinds of different experiences.
24:51And if those aren't auctioned, they should be.
24:54The Golden State Community Foundation, they're so creative.
24:57All their community programs are so well planned.
25:03Garland missing there.
25:04Pajemski breaking the paint.
25:06Moody's face is out for a three.
25:09Trace fighting on the glass, but Thomas Pryant comes up with a rebound.
25:12And Garland and Mitchell, they kind of would take turns running the offense,
25:20but with Darius having that foot injury, he's not been playing on back-to-backs,
25:24did not play last night.
25:26And then Garland banking it in.
25:27He's perfectly capable, by the way, of scoring in bunches.
25:30Uh-oh.
25:31That outlet's stolen, and Garland three.
25:34And the Warriors fortunate.
25:36You want to stay away from mental lapses as much as possible,
25:39take care of the ball.
25:40And one of the best teams at opponent turnovers, the Cavs are.
25:42So are the Warriors, by the way.
25:45GP2 catch-and-shoot three.
25:48I like how the Warriors are crashing for rebounds,
25:50and Bryant and Guy Santos get tied up for the jump ball.
25:53You know Guy Santos is going to go dumb hard.
25:56It's all he knows.
25:57You know what's nice there?
25:58Because Thomas Bryant's a good dude.
25:59He and Guy got tied up, and he went, good job, good job.
26:02But it wasn't like, hey, you know, you got it?
26:06You got it?
26:06Okay, let's have a jump ball.
26:07You're smiling.
26:08And Guy Santos is going to battle, so he's going to be involved
26:11in a lot of these skirmishes, if that's what you want to call it.
26:14Hey, look at it.
26:15Good job, good job.
26:16You got the ball.
26:17I got the ball.
26:18Now let's see who wins this jump ball.
26:19It's going to be tough to beat Bryant, by the way.
26:21Sports needs more of that.
26:23Good sports action.
26:23At every level.
26:25And Guy Santos will smile a lot.
26:27He just has a great energy, great heart.
26:31Bryant's seven feet tall, so how genomitis,
26:35petritus, throws this will matter.
26:40And Guy Santos, quick tap.
26:42Got it.
26:42And he got it.
26:43He's smiling again.
26:47Nine seconds.
26:50Five on the shot clock.
26:53Ray's Jackson Davis.
26:54He's got a wheel and put it up into arms.
26:57Good defense by the Cavs, the 24-second violation.
27:00Well, they just knew he didn't have much time,
27:02so the longer he took to make his move,
27:05they were even more sure that they were going to come late there.
27:08Now, you talked about Craig Porter.
27:10How about Naquan Tomlin?
27:11Oh, my God.
27:12Didn't play high school basketball.
27:13No, starting at community colleges from Brooklyn.
27:16It's unbelievable.
27:16But at Rucker Park.
27:17And he was like a long shot to make this team.
27:19There he is right there.
27:20He's gangly, super athletic, known for his explosive dunks.
27:24He's a slasher.
27:25But, yeah, he was a long shot to make the team,
27:28and here he is as a critical part of Atkinson's rotation.
27:31It's wild, these stories.
27:32How many NBA guys never played high school basketball?
27:35It doesn't make any sense.
27:36How do you end up here?
27:38Majemski, he took the bump,
27:40and Brandon will get a couple free throws.
27:42He ended up at Memphis after the community college.
27:45He just kept working, kept working on his game.
27:46He's still really raw.
27:47But, again, these guys that bring the consistent energy,
27:51which he is one of those guys.
27:52Pat Spencer is one of those guys.
27:53Coaches love these guys.
27:57So, 3-0-8 remaining in the first,
28:00and you can have the Warriors stop it here.
28:03So, a couple free throws coming,
28:06but staying in the game after being down to OKC in Philly.
28:11The sports bay area is brought to you by Volvo.
28:18There's a good look at Cleveland.
28:20The arena right near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
28:23Warriors know all about Cleveland,
28:25because they left here with a couple rings.
28:27Hey, you've got the World Cup coming to the bay,
28:30and the FIFA final draw watch party was at Thrive City.
28:35Team USA, Paraguay,
28:37and then one of the European qualifiers in Australia in their group.
28:42Good group, by the way.
28:43You're the legend.
28:43But you had giveaways, prizes.
28:45Leslie Osborne, Brandi Chastain, Chris Wondolowski were all there.
28:49This is, I mean, this is going to be great.
28:51It's going to be down at, you know, Levi's.
28:54I want to go.
28:54You're going to have a World Cup game in the Bay Area?
28:57I would love to go to that.
28:58The World Cup football.
29:01Got to love it.
29:03Capital of Paraguay?
29:05Asuncion.
29:06Do you know a lot of capitals?
29:08Is that your thing?
29:08I know every capital of every country in the world.
29:10Good job.
29:12Uruguay, Mount Evideo.
29:13I'll run through all of South America.
29:16I don't know if we have time.
29:18Honduras to Gusigalpa.
29:19I'll finish there.
29:20Okay.
29:202.45 left in the first.
29:24Donovan Mitchell on the mid-range.
29:27Dropping that in.
29:27I'm just saying, if I'm on Jeopardy and it's Capitals and Countries,
29:30I'm running the table.
29:30You win.
29:31Just step away from the TV.
29:33Gotcha.
29:35Donovan Mitchell is going to try to run the table.
29:37He wants to take over at some point,
29:38see if he can get his guys some separation.
29:42Warriors are moving the ball well, but can they get shots to go down?
29:45Cleveland has played pretty solid defense.
29:47Pajemski, three.
29:50Bryant's coming up with a rebound.
29:52That's a look there.
29:53Thomas Bryanson dropped coverage off of that ball screen.
29:55You had some space.
29:57We were talking about Naquan Tomlin.
30:00He made his NBA debut in his hometown in Brooklyn when they played the Nets.
30:04How awesome is that?
30:05It's a dream come true.
30:07Bryant for three.
30:08You can live with that.
30:09And what a rebound by Craig Porter.
30:12Pajemski at inside position.
30:15And Donovan Mitchell, well defended by Moody, but Bryant the rebound, and he's fouled.
30:20Okay, third opportunity for Cleveland.
30:22They're the more aggressive team since that last timeout.
30:25Getting to the glass.
30:27They're going to try to use their size.
30:29Thomas Bryant's going to try to have an impact.
30:32They have guys that, yeah, again, are just playing to assert themselves,
30:37make a name for themselves in this league.
30:39Talk about Porter.
30:41I mean, he is a solid pick-and-roll player, decision-maker.
30:44Tomlin, he's been compared to Aaron Gordon.
30:47If he continues to develop his ball handling back to the basket game,
30:50but we have a lot of guys in this game that are living on their energy and intensity.
30:56Thomas Bryant, nine years in the league, two years in Indiana.
30:59Always been a very serviceable big man in a couple different NBA stops.
31:03He's saying it's going to be tough to box him out.
31:07He's going to throw some juke moves at you if you have a body on him.
31:10Dubs are 4 of 20 shooting the ball.
31:16Jamski to GP2, and it just hung on the iron.
31:20The little time play.
31:21The little big man, just ball screen.
31:24And that GP2 knocked that away.
31:26Quinton Post was off to the races, but the ball got deflected.
31:29Dean Wade, Donovan Mitchell, a little two-man game.
31:36Porter breaking the paint.
31:38Wade can shoot that, but over the backboard, and the Warriors will take it.
31:43Mickey Santos had Tomlin boxed out.
31:45You happen to make multiple efforts.
31:47You're drawn and kicking, multiple closeouts.
31:50Warriors are up to the task there,
31:51and you're trying to keep them from getting too far ahead of you here.
31:55No problem with the Warriors effort, no problem with the Warriors defense,
32:01but finding offense as they just throw that one away,
32:05you just want to close the quarter strong,
32:07have some momentum going in each quarter if you can.
32:11Yeah, Pat Spencer picking up those two quick fouls,
32:14took him out of the game,
32:15and kind of took away the Warriors' engine a little bit.
32:19Another missed three, 0 for 10, as Tomlin couldn't hit there.
32:23He'll give him that shot.
32:24He's not super consistent when it comes to three-point range for him.
32:2820% on the year.
32:31You have five turnovers now in this quarter.
32:33You want to limit those the rest of the quarter.
32:36You can go two for one.
32:37Moody knows that.
32:39Quinton with a show-and-go.
32:42Majemski and GP2, a little give-and-go.
32:46But the floater was short.
32:47You can live with a six-point margin, but how you got here,
32:57a little frustrating on the offensive end.
32:59Two-second game shot clock difference,
33:01and Donovan Mitchell weaving through and flipping it up and out.
33:06What a nice play by Quinton Post,
33:07and it ricochets off of the Cavs.
33:09That's Warrior ball.
33:10Yeah, you're making Donovan Mitchell adjust at least when he gets to the basket.
33:15He's going in and out on you, trying to run circles around the team,
33:18but when he gets to the basket, beat him there.
33:20Five seconds.
33:21Majemski at three.
33:23Majemski took the bump.
33:25So the foul with 1.3.
33:27You'll take that.
33:29That was just a quick ball screen.
33:31Cavs had to know something was happening.
33:34Cleveland's thinking they had one to give,
33:36and so it's not quite in the act of shooting.
33:38Thomas Bryan is just trying to contain, fit, and hold his line.
33:42So you're coming off as fast as you can if you're Podimsky.
33:46So 1.3, that's time enough to secure and attempt a shot.
33:50It won't be disallowed by rule.
33:520.3 is anything under 0.3.
33:55If you can't catch and shoot.
33:56If you find any separation here, it'll be impressive
33:58because they're just probably going to switch everything.
34:04Got to play hot potato.
34:06Moody time to seize and size it up, but off iron there.
34:11So the Warriors, the shooting beyond rough.
34:144 of 22, but they were down 20 in Philly.
34:19They're down 6 at the end of 1.
34:20Just play the score.
34:2310 guys are going to play.
34:24That's all the Warriors have in uniform.
34:27Cavs, they're looking for back-to-back wins
34:29after beating San Antonio, 18-12 after the first 12 minutes.
34:43LeBron, the end of the streak.
34:4510 or more points in 1,297 games.
34:50He had 8 against Toronto, but he had the game-winning assist to Rui Hachimura on a 3.
34:58Rather than shoot it and try to preserve the streak.
35:01Wow, he's been doing it for so long.
35:04Shot clock at 2.
35:06Pat Spencer putting it up and out.
35:09Well, the Warriors have to keep defending at a high level until their offense comes around.
35:12And the Cavs are 0 for 10 from three-point raise.
35:15They're doing the job.
35:17Luke Travers in for Cleveland.
35:19Jalen Tyson dropping it into Tomlin.
35:22Just trying to hang on for dear life.
35:25Tomlin on the step-through, and the Warriors are ready.
35:28Quinton Post and Kaminga.
35:29Their defense at the rim has been good.
35:33I just think it's amazing.
35:34The Warriors had 10 in the first quarter in Philly, 12 in the first quarter tonight.
35:38They hate the Eastern time zone.
35:40Oh, Quinton Post did a little Zaza.
35:44Went between the legs there.
35:45Whoa.
35:46Making a shot clock at 3.
35:49Someone's got to shoot the ball.
35:50Buddy Heal does and lays it up and in.
35:53I think Mobley thought he was just going to keep going out to the three-point line.
35:56And Buddy Heal's like, nope, I'm going to turn it around and lay it up as fast as I can.
36:00Tomlin, like Kalena said, 20% three-point shooter.
36:03As long as it's not Donovan Mitchell or Mobley, the Warriors are fine.
36:07That was actually Mobley that shot that one.
36:09But this is the LeBron graphic.
36:12Look at the bottom.
36:13Luke Adonis was seven years old the last time.
36:16And then Cooper was 17 days old.
36:18Kalena Ozabuki was in the NBA in 2007, right?
36:23Because that was We Believe Year.
36:24Bro, he's been doing it forever.
36:26Shot clock winding down every trip down for the Warriors this quarter.
36:36You saw Mobley with the good hands.
36:37Will Richard with better hands, but couldn't finish that off.
36:41That's what Kelly will do for you.
36:42Because he cut, Will Richard is in the right position.
36:44He's just grabbing Johnny on the spot.
36:46He couldn't finish it, though.
36:47Jalen Tyson, Donovan Mitchell.
36:49With Tomlin, Mobley, and Luke Travers.
36:51And there is the three, finally, for Cleveland.
36:57He's got a great step back, too.
36:59He's going to get pretty easy separation with that.
37:01And even if you're there, he's going to rise over.
37:03You jump so high on his jumper.
37:04Kaminga could take inside, but couldn't finish.
37:08Mobley's just so long in there.
37:10So hard.
37:10You've got to try to jump into his body and drop out.
37:13J.K. 0 for 5 here.
37:15Maybe jumps a little more backward.
37:17Mitchell, nice contest by Kaminga, but Travers guides at home.
37:21Well, Travers, he just kind of set that screen with his back.
37:25And then he had the guy on his back,
37:27so no one was able to box it out and get in front of him.
37:29And he just made sure he got to the glass.
37:31Travers actually played with Matthew Della Vadova in Australia.
37:34Yeah, 56 pick in 2022.
37:37He's known for his defense.
37:38He's got three seconds in the key here.
37:40Yeah, three-second defensive violation.
37:43That would be a technical free throw.
37:45But Travers, another slasher in battles defensively.
37:49He's got good size, good body.
37:52And I was just actually thinking,
37:53Warriors have a lot of guys playing this game
37:56that have spent time playing in those three-on-three low-minute games.
38:00The Warriors have practiced.
38:02You don't want to run your big-minute guys into the ground.
38:04They do what they can,
38:05and then you have guys playing three-on-three.
38:07Like, these are the games you play those three-on-three games for.
38:11Quit and post, just a simple Pat Spencer,
38:15quit and post kind of two-man game.
38:16Get something going offensively,
38:18because as ugly as it's been, you're only down five.
38:21And that's the kind of thing you do in those three-on-three games.
38:23A little two-man game, quick decisions,
38:25kick and pop, that works.
38:26Tyson missing there.
38:28Take advantage while Cleveland can't make anything.
38:30Let's keep this thing a single-digit game.
38:34The Warriors are down five, shooting 21%.
38:37Pat Spencer floating it up and in.
38:39Did you see that mean in and out?
38:41And they just turned the burners on, man.
38:43It puts on the speed.
38:45Travers, he's known for his defense.
38:46He didn't know what hit him.
38:49Mobley and Mitchell up top.
38:51Oh, don't reward that.
38:54Yeah, that's what Coach Kerr is saying.
38:57I mean, yeah, Justin Van Dyke called that,
38:59but don't reward that.
39:01This is how you go to the hole, just hit and slip out of it.
39:03Because you get a little bit of a slip out,
39:07Travers kind of opens up.
39:08And as soon as Pat Spencer sees that,
39:10turns the burners on.
39:12He's at the rim in the blink of an eye.
39:14And this guy, he's lacrosse in sports.
39:17He already conquered the world in one sport, lacrosse.
39:20He's saying, I'm building in this sport.
39:23I am now a basketballer.
39:25You saw Steve.
39:26He's saying, look, there's incidental contact
39:28every single play in the NBA.
39:31It can't be illegal contact on something that innocuous.
39:34Jeez, the game's going to be six hours long.
39:36Well, can you win the non-Donovan Mitchell minutes right here
39:38as Mobley misses inside?
39:40See if you can get out and run, find some flow offensively.
39:45You're going to go pick and roll ball screen
39:47with Pat Spencer initially and just play out of it.
39:49Will Richard cutting without the ball.
39:51Yeah, you like that.
39:51How about Quinton Post finding him, though?
39:53That is amazing.
39:54He's just looking at Darius Garland.
39:56Couldn't keep himself in between his men in the basket.
39:59Cut.
39:59Garland, three.
40:00Perfect.
40:02He's got to make sure you're up on his ball screen there.
40:04His man got clipped.
40:06Got to be ready to contest that.
40:07The screener defender wasn't there.
40:09Four-point deficit.
40:18Ten guys playing for the Dubs.
40:21And that time, you just see Cleveland.
40:23They are a good defensive team.
40:24And Tomlin, he's learning from Mobley.
40:28Kick out to Dean Wade.
40:29Catch and shoot three, but barely ticked iron.
40:31And Travers gives Garland another opportunity.
40:34Luke Travers time to seam it up.
40:37These rebound battles are huge, and Dean Wade wins it.
40:41It's a little demoralizing.
40:42You're forcing misses, but the Cavs have all these extra opportunities.
40:46And Miss Tomlin wide open.
40:49Travers driving.
40:50Flipping it up and out.
40:52Fourth opportunity.
40:53Fifth opportunity.
40:54And finally, Kaminga says, enough!
40:59The fight is real.
41:01Do you have the fighting spirit?
41:02The Cavs are 10 of 37.
41:05And it wasn't all on that possession.
41:07Yeah.
41:07The Warriors are staying with it.
41:09Don't get discouraged if you give up an offensive rebound.
41:11These things happen.
41:13Pat Spencer cutting again.
41:14Setting up Buddy Heald.
41:16It's Pat.
41:17If Pat Spencer's involved in something, it ends up being good.
41:20This guy knows how to play basketball.
41:22You're just running your split action.
41:23And his man got clipped, so he just runs through that.
41:25Because he gets in the paint, the defense collapses.
41:29You're within one point.
41:30Just keep it as close.
41:32Hey, today, on TV.
41:34Yeah.
41:34I like that.
41:35Someone messed up his smile, though.
41:36I know.
41:37Well, that's not right.
41:38That was the scoring after the first quarter.
41:41Kind of a wry smile there.
41:43Well, the Warriors and the Valkyries hosted youth from Mobilize Love
41:46at the Golden State Shop for Hoopers and Holiday Treats,
41:49presented by AM-PM.
41:51And he had Will Rich and Guy Santos, the Valkyries' bestie Violet,
41:55joined the youth in decorated holiday cookies, lots of gear.
42:00It was just a fun day all the way around.
42:01I love it.
42:03I love Guy Santos' smile, making other people smile.
42:06It's the season of giving.
42:08I had not made a snowman in, like, ten years.
42:11And so it was fun.
42:12Yeah, man.
42:13It's kind of – it takes a while to roll that thing.
42:15Yeah.
42:16We were out there for a while.
42:17I don't do well with the cold.
42:18I should be used to it by now.
42:19I was like, who's got a corncob pipe and a button nose
42:22and two eyes made out of cold?
42:24Frosty the Snowman.
42:25Oh, Pat Spencer deflected that one again.
42:27They had a quick double team.
42:28He's like, give it to me.
42:29I'm running.
42:30Pat Spencer, Moody, Trace Jackson Davis with Buddy Heald
42:33and Guy Santos.
42:34He'd take the lead here.
42:39Shot clock at ten.
42:42There he is.
42:43Pat just touching it to Moody.
42:45Shot clock at five.
42:47Pat Spencer.
42:48High, arcing three.
42:50And Guy Santos, give me that rebound.
42:52Guy, what a play.
42:53Oh, man.
42:54I'm telling you how hard these guys play.
42:57No one wants it more than Guy Santos,
42:59especially when it comes to the boards.
43:00He climbed over Wade.
43:03This is amazing.
43:05Watch him come from behind just climb over.
43:07Wade's like, wait a minute.
43:08That was my rebound.
43:09What just happened?
43:10How did he get that?
43:11He's crashing in the officials.
43:13No one wants it more than this guy.
43:15So they're honoring Anderson Varejal tonight
43:20with the bobblehead.
43:21I know what you're about to say.
43:21Well, no, but I'd say Brazilian.
43:23Yeah.
43:23And then Guy as well.
43:24I love it.
43:25You know, and then we also want to pass along
43:27our condolences.
43:27Anderson's father has passed away
43:29and had a moment of silence.
43:31He loved Anderson Varejal when he was with the Warriors,
43:33obviously well-regarded here in Cleveland.
43:35But there's something about Guy Santos' spirit,
43:38just the energy, the way he plays,
43:41the way he conducts himself.
43:42Everybody loves him.
43:43You need guys like this in the locker room.
43:46I'm thinking of Leandro Barbosa, too.
43:48It's got to be a Brazilian thing.
43:50Their spirit is infectious.
43:53So just that extra effort and energy
43:56pays off on one of two from the line.
43:58And he took it to heart when Coach Kerr said,
44:00you guys can go to the glass.
44:01We can attack more and more.
44:02Warriors should not be below 20
44:04when it comes to offensive rebounding percentage.
44:07They made Garland pick up the dribble,
44:08shot clock at nine.
44:10Working with DeAndre Hunter up top.
44:12Yeah, they're throwing all kinds of double teams at him now.
44:15Craig Porter, shot clock at two.
44:18And spins around Moody.
44:19Excellent defense there without the foul.
44:21Trying to go counter move footwork.
44:23Moses Moody was there for all of it.
44:25Guy Santos trailed three.
44:27Guy Santos dropping it in.
44:29And the Dubs have the lead.
44:30And again, Pat Spencer making plays everywhere.
44:34Push, push.
44:35Get as close as he can to the paint.
44:37Make the defense react.
44:38Push it out.
44:40Dean Wade setting up Porter.
44:44And Garland catching shoot three.
44:47I tell you, the Warrior defense has been on point all night.
44:49Amazing.
44:50And now they're finding a little rhythm and flow offensively.
44:53The Warriors are out shooting the Cavs right now.
44:55The foul on the pass.
44:57Oh, man.
44:57Pat Spencer, he just rejected that screen.
45:00Caught his defender off guard.
45:01Now he's got the advantage.
45:03Now you're on your heels.
45:04He can just throw his body into you.
45:06Porter, Porter Jr. couldn't deal with all of that.
45:08And also what this unit saying now is, we're not coming from 24 down.
45:12Oh, no.
45:13You're here.
45:14It's the beauty of being down only six at the end of one.
45:16Oh, the – trying to get it to Trace on the roll.
45:25And Porter and Garland, little two-man break.
45:28Dean Wade at a block by Moody.
45:30Just sprinting back.
45:31Moses Moody was there.
45:33Warriors coming up with stop after stop.
45:36Can they add score after score?
45:40Guy Santos on Porter.
45:41Wheels around him.
45:43Took a little contact, and he'll get to the line again.
45:45Guy Santos has game.
45:47These spin moves.
45:48We saw one in Philly.
45:49Saw another one there.
45:50He was two inches away from the basket in Philly, and he's spinning.
45:53And the bench jumps up and rejoices.
45:56Watch this man play.
45:57Back to the basket game.
45:59Hard to the middle.
46:00Spin back to the baseline.
46:02Porter Jr. is like, what am I supposed to do?
46:03He's shrugging.
46:05That's too many moves.
46:06I can't deal with it.
46:07He's countermoving in compact spaces.
46:10Like, that's when you know you have game.
46:12You don't need that – you don't need much room at all,
46:14and you can make moves like that?
46:16He's Santos' energy.
46:17You know, he plays like a jack-in-the-box.
46:22Making a much better day with one of my much better deals.
46:25That's what I'd do.
46:26Welcome to Jack-in-the-box.
46:29You got me crying over here.
46:34You always have to remember it's a game.
46:36I mean, that's the thing.
46:38I think too many people – you know, this guy's out,
46:39or this guy's hurt – you know what?
46:41These are the ten guys that are playing.
46:43Yeah.
46:43And it's a dream of everybody to make the NBA.
46:46You have to enjoy it.
46:47And what this group wants to do is they want to win one of these games
46:50where they're missing the Hall of Famers.
46:53I think you're going to need to win some of them
46:54because if you want to get out of the playing tournament,
46:58into the top six, I mean, obviously you're hoping those guys
47:01aren't out this much, but you want to compete.
47:04Bonham and Mitchell in the lane.
47:06They'll take the body bump and put it up and in.
47:08I think it was on Pat Spencer.
47:10He pushed over Thomas Bryant.
47:12And you've got to be careful with Pat's foul trouble.
47:14You don't have the bodies, and Pat's so integral
47:16to how the offense is being played right now.
47:19Pat Spencer just pushed Bryant over.
47:21Bryant was like, yeah, I realize how intense you are.
47:23He actually gave him a high five afterwards,
47:25and this is just how you play.
47:27Oh, man, I cracked it.
47:28And a good thing that Trace Jackson-Davis didn't get rolled up on.
47:32That was dangerous.
47:34Now, what's interesting is they're not going to count that basket.
47:36The shove-down occurred before Garland put it in.
47:42Pat Spencer with three fouls.
47:44He may be done for the half.
47:48Huge challenge dealing with Mitchell, averaging 30 a game.
47:52Missing that three.
47:54Ison will track it down.
47:55Garland, an open three.
47:57And Guy Santos, the rebound.
47:58They are two for 17 for three-point range.
48:01They're 22nd in the league in three-point shooting percentage.
48:04Jemsky early three.
48:07Warriors are trying to build a lead.
48:09I never thought I'd say that in this game.
48:10They're trying to get some separation.
48:12Oh, the hand on the hip as Garland floats it up and in.
48:17Those are the fouls you don't even get your money's worth for.
48:21There's Garland, and he's trying to get back to playing fast, using his quickness, getting in the paint.
48:26Quick ball screens.
48:27Told you they're going to keep it as simple as possible.
48:29And Hunter just got caught behind there.
48:32Just got stuck.
48:34He gave Pajemsky some time.
48:36You know, Brandon was open for five-on-threes in Philly, but 38% on the year.
48:41The games leading in, he was at 48% from the field and 46% on threes.
48:46So the Philly game was like a clunker, but he's been shooting the ball better in the last couple weeks.
48:51Just playing off of guys, and when it's your time to initiate, make the right decision, like he did there.
48:57I mean, the 48 and 46 on threes was over five games, so it wasn't like just a one-off.
49:02We're going to let him handle here.
49:03More ball screens.
49:04How's your pick-and-roll game?
49:06Hit and get back.
49:07Garland completing the three-point play.
49:09He's got ten.
49:12Guy Santos to GP2 to lay it up and in.
49:14The drive from Guy Santos was still threatening, and he slowed himself down, took a beat.
49:19Pump fake, pump fake.
49:20He gets someone cutting.
49:21GP2's man lost sight of him.
49:24Yeah, Garland's starting to feel a little bit.
49:26He got the ten, and so now he's getting frisky.
49:28The lob to Mobley inside.
49:30Good ball movement by Cleveland.
49:32The problem started when you double-teamed Garland on the baseline.
49:35He got rid of it.
49:36He just struggled to rotate back to the basket as Trace Jackson-Davis had to vacate the premises and come up.
49:42GP2, three, and the rebound.
49:46TJD.
49:47Warriors are having an impact on the glass now.
49:49Moody time to seam it up.
49:50Moses dropping it in.
49:55So Moses, Moody, and Pajemski hitting threes.
49:59Timely offense from everybody that's going to be needed tonight.
50:01Tyson went to hammer that down, but he had to travel early.
50:05It's a great time to shoot threes when you get offensive rebound.
50:08Warriors are finding that out.
50:092-54 the mandatory in the dub.
50:12Warrior basketball in NBC Sports Bay Area is brought to you by the all-new Alexa Plus, all grown up.
50:19Good look at Cleveland all dressed up for the holiday season with a Warrior lead at 8.
50:25Jalen Tyson last night was 11 of 15 and had 24 points and 6 rebounds against Indy this week.
50:33He had 27 and 11.
50:34Now he's 0 for 2 tonight, but this is a guy that they found out of Cal, the 20th pick a year ago, kind of was an end-of-the-bench guy last season.
50:44But what a factor for Cleveland this year.
50:47He's been killing lately.
50:48He's shooting 48% on threes overall, even better lately.
50:51But he's got counter moves.
50:53He hit Harrison Lawrence with a mean behind-the-back counter move.
50:57And he's just saying he's been playing off the guys.
50:59He didn't think he's been doing anything special.
51:00Actually, at Cal, he's like, you know, my role there was even tougher than it is here with the Cavaliers
51:05because I had to control everything with Cal and that team.
51:08Now I can play off of Donovan Mitchell and others.
51:11Look at Mitchell.
51:12That's right.
51:13I mean, Donovan Mitchell is a pro's pro.
51:15Yeah.
51:15You know, if you're a 30-point, top-five scorer, you don't need to be that grimy defensively, but it is.
51:21You don't have to get on the floor.
51:23But, I mean, with Tyson, again, being able to play off a guy like Donovan Mitchell, that's the thing.
51:27With these young guys that come in the league, you want to play off of guys as long as you can
51:32because being the main guy, that's a different animal.
51:35At least when you're playing off of guys as Koczymski knocks down a mid-range jumper,
51:38you may be able to slip through the cracks when the defense is focused on them.
51:42You surprise them with your moves.
51:43When you're the main guy, you're not surprising anyone with anything.
51:46Mitchell missing, but Mobley's there to clean it up.
51:50So, if you're a young guy coming into this league and you have a star you can play with,
51:53you're saying prayers of Thanksgiving.
51:56I'm telling you, man.
51:57As long as you can, play off of them.
51:59And then you keep working on your game, add to your game.
52:01When it's your time to shine, that'll happen.
52:05Majemski rattling that one out.
52:08Had a good look there.
52:09You know, I keep looking at Evan Mobley at 24 years of age.
52:12I mean, this guy's like becoming Garnett Jr.
52:16Yeah, he's got a lot of games, got a lot of handle.
52:18Again, they want to use his playmaking ability as much as possible.
52:22Long rebound off the Garland miss.
52:24And then Trace smartly let Garland touch it last.
52:27Out of bounds.
52:28Warrior ball.
52:28Because they'll give it to Mobley at the top and just kind of let him initiate,
52:31let him be the hub, move.
52:32Because I just see Mobley, 19-9, all defense, 37% on threes.
52:38He's like just, I want to see him at 28-29, like right in his prime.
52:42Because he's just elite in so many things.
52:46And again, with playing off the guys, a lot of guys have made a career of doing that.
52:49Sure.
52:50You know?
52:51Oh, no.
52:53Talk about P.J. Tucker and Bruce Bowen and people like that.
52:55Yeah.
52:59Went in post.
52:59Shot clock at three.
53:01DeSantos checked that he's got a launch.
53:04And post with the rebound, a fresh 14.
53:06Looks good that was a long miss.
53:08Post just pushed Mobley under.
53:12Final minute 13 of the first half.
53:15Pajemski.
53:16Got him.
53:16Nice pass inside.
53:18There's Brandon taking two defenders and spoon feeding.
53:22Post for the dung.
53:23Just rip it through.
53:24Get by your man.
53:24You know the help is coming.
53:26Be ready to shovel it to your guy.
53:28Quit in post.
53:29Garland's been rolling with ten.
53:33Mobley's got ten.
53:34But the Warriors keep coming up with stops.
53:36GP2 going to high rise.
53:38And Garland bothered him enough off the rim.
53:40He couldn't figure out how he wanted to finish there.
53:43Then fouling Mobley.
53:46Oh, the Cavs are actually fifth in the league in opponent's tournament.
53:50The Warriors are sixth.
53:52They're there too.
53:52So get active with your hands.
53:54Look at him.
53:55Just drive by Hunter, who's a really good defender.
53:57Mobley had to help.
53:59That's the easiest bucket Quentin Post will ever have.
54:02And for Brandon, quick decision.
54:03Because if you go up, Mobley's blocking that shot.
54:05You have to make that decision there.
54:09It was a smart foul by Moody because it saved the dunk.
54:12Two Warriors had one to give.
54:13Two for one here.
54:17Mobley catch and shoot three.
54:19And Pajemski coming back for that rebound.
54:21The Warriors are going to have momentum going into halftime.
54:24It's going to be the best defensive half for the Dubs all year.
54:28I told you, just keep working hard defensively until your offense comes alive.
54:33It came alive.
54:35Seven to shoot.
54:37Only 12 in the half.
54:39Post turning the corner.
54:41Quentin Post to lay it up and in.
54:42He went fake handoff.
54:44Draymond Green.
54:46He just set him up so beautifully there.
54:49Mitchell going to launch a three to end the half.
54:51Perfect.
54:55Donovan Mitchell will be heard from.
54:57But so far, if you're the Dubs, you're down 18 to 12 at the end of one.
55:02You have the 45-36 lead at halftime.
55:06You are beyond happy with how this half has gone.
55:09That second quarter was amazing.
55:11They found some flow offensively.
55:12And so Guy Santos putting the headset on.
55:19And Guy, tell us about that energy defensively, really, the first and the second quarter.
55:25Oh, that was great.
55:28I think we were down three by the time, like, before this end of the quarter.
55:33And we had a big push in the defense, make them make tough shots,
55:37and just playing well, being in the right spot and the right moment.
55:41So that gave us that little advantage by the end of the quarter.
55:46Guy, people don't give you credit for how much game you have.
55:49That crazy spin move you threw at him in the last game against the Sixers,
55:52this one where you had the post up here, and you got the –
55:55just tell me about how much you've worked on that part of your game,
55:58the spins, the counter moves, all of that.
56:00Oh, yeah, I work on that.
56:02Sometimes I don't show it a lot in the games, but I work a lot on that.
56:06I like to play one-on-one with other players, and that improves us.
56:10The game and the quick decisions that we've got to take during this movement.
56:15So I think this – I really work on that, and sometimes I had the opportunity to show it.
56:20And last game was one of these moments, and tonight I had a chance, too.
56:24Hey, Guy, thanks for stopping.
56:26Keep it up.
56:27Only ten guys healthy.
56:28Yes, sir.
56:28Yes, sir.
56:28All right.
56:29The Warriors, 45-36, doing it defensively.
56:34Offense coming along for the ride.
56:36Karen Festus and Zinnick.
56:37Gee, and more hybrid models than any other brand.
56:40Toyota, let's go places.
56:45At halftime in Cleveland, the Warriors held the Cavs to 18 points in the first quarter.
56:50You said, hey, that's not – oh, they did it again in the second quarter.
56:5318 again and have the lead.
56:55So, Claude Auzabuki and the Bukis big-time bifocals brought to you by your Bay Area Chevy dealers.
57:01I think it was the good defense until the offense came around.
57:04The defense kept them in the game early.
57:06Watch Quinton Post here.
57:08I'm going to back up.
57:09I'm going to help on everything.
57:11This is my paint.
57:12This is my domain.
57:14You will come in here, and you will have no success.
57:17Watch them.
57:18I'm going to help here.
57:19I'm going to make you pass it, turn you away.
57:21You don't want any part of this.
57:23I'm too intense down here.
57:24I'm going to help again and block your shot late.
57:26This is amazing.
57:27Everything is tough for the Cavaliers.
57:29Again, freeze it.
57:31Here, two defenders.
57:33But, okay, you don't want to let him out of the double team, but he's so fast.
57:36But then watch Trace Jackson Davis.
57:38I see what's happening.
57:39I'm not just going to assume they got him hemmed up in the double team.
57:42I'm going to be ready to help when he bursts out of there.
57:45Watch him get over there quick.
57:46And Moses Moody, too.
57:47Just see bodies.
57:48They're just flying around.
57:49When you play this hard, it makes up for mistakes.
57:53Now you've got the offense going.
57:54Freeze it here.
57:55You've got all this space in the paint here.
57:58And you're going to try to occupy Mobley.
58:01Drive in there.
58:02Don't mess around with it.
58:03Just make a quick, hard move.
58:05Rip it through.
58:06And Mobley has to come help.
58:08You're too threatening in there.
58:09Quinton Post has never had an easier bucket.
58:12You're holding them to a terrible shooting half.
58:15Their percentages are just rubbish right now.
58:18And your offense is kind of going.
58:19So you have some rhythm and momentum.
58:21You've got 20 points off the bench to their six.
58:24I mean, you're playing a great game when it comes to just battling.
58:28We have said to not get demoralized when the offense was sideways.
58:33The Warriors were 4 of 23 in the first quarter.
58:36But then 12 of 20 in the second.
58:39The constant is the excellent defense that they have.
58:41It's amazing.
58:43I think I said bench points, right?
58:44Not paint points.
58:45Oh, you said bench points.
58:47Yeah, 20 to 6.
58:48And that's Pat Spencer's third foul, though.
58:50That's the one thing you want to keep an eye on.
58:52You can't have Pat in foul trouble.
58:54That's the one thing you want to keep an eye on.
