00:00Scrum straight to the red line.
00:04Damage.
00:05Damage.
00:06Don't do that!
00:07Stay still!
00:08Derbyshire traffic cops.
00:10It does have warning markers for potential firearms.
00:15Stay down with it!
00:16You're under arrest.
00:17Lieutenant's supply class is being a drug.
00:19Police a thousand square miles.
00:23It's a crash, crash.
00:25You got any other injury other than your head?
00:27With some of the UK's most dangerous roads.
00:30Oh, nobody's been killed out of this.
00:32I don't know.
00:33Do you know how fast you're going?
00:34It's scary when stuff like this happens.
00:36In life and death situations.
00:39Get on the ground, you'll be tainted!
00:41We've got runners.
00:42Face down.
00:45Yes, yes, successful sting.
00:49Around every corner.
00:51Great acting, mate.
00:54There's a new challenge for the traffic cops.
00:57Step out of the vehicle now!
01:00I'm going home.
01:01David!
01:02Stop grabbing me like that!
01:06Crash, crash, crash.
01:09Coming up.
01:10Oscar and Victor two behind.
01:12Car criminals on the run.
01:14Yes, yes.
01:15Two vehicles making off.
01:17Causing danger on the roads.
01:19The dog's now out.
01:21As organised crime groups.
01:23How did he come to the UK?
01:24On a truck.
01:25Right, okay.
01:26Try to stay under the radar.
01:28Now it's time to play hunt the car.
01:30And with that vehicle now, it is empty.
01:32Engine's still running.
01:34By risking lives.
01:35Come to a stop on the marketplace.
01:38Get it, mate, get it.
01:39This car's driven directly at me.
01:41End up killing people, mate.
01:42That was insane.
01:52From NA Sierra One, we've had an ANPR activation for a possible clone vehicle.
01:57Can any ops units start making their way, please?
01:59Including Oscar Juliet units.
02:01Yes, yes.
02:02We're just in and about looking for it.
02:04PC Mark Scott is one of two Derbyshire Road crime units.
02:08Out hunting for cross-border car crime gangs.
02:12So we just had it here.
02:14For a vehicle.
02:15So at the minute, we're just trying to see if we can locate it.
02:18See what's going off with it.
02:20The team is looking for a suspect car near the Manchester border,
02:24where there's been a spike in car thefts.
02:28Yes, yes.
02:29White Audi tried to break into thousands.
02:31I believe there was also a report that it was trying to break into third cause as well.
02:35A white Audi A3s or S3.
02:38There was an S3 next to the other night.
02:39It wasn't there.
02:40So I reckon it's going to be that one.
02:42If I was a betting man.
02:44Sergeant Luke Christian and PC Nick Lovett are also nearby.
02:48A few nights ago, we had a Audi S3 stolen.
02:53We think those offenders have returned in that car tonight.
02:56Obviously bearing a different number plate.
02:58To try and steal probably more cars.
03:01Brake into houses.
03:03That's the type of car that they're going for.
03:04Like a quite nice Audi.
03:07With a lot of cross-border criminality,
03:08it is OCG, organised crime group led.
03:12And it's quite a significant problem.
03:14A lot of work is done behind the scenes to identify clones.
03:18And it's not just by us, by other forces throughout the country.
03:21And resources will be thrown quite heavily at it in order to get the vehicle stopped.
03:26Ten miles east of Manchester.
03:29Mark spots the Audi.
03:31S3, anything to follow?
03:34Go ahead.
03:35Just letting you know about a partial sighting of that stolen Audi S3.
03:40It's passed me in the opposite direction.
03:43So it's the direction of travelling towards Glossom.
03:46It did appear to be a convoy with something.
03:49I didn't get EBRM of that one, unfortunately.
03:51And a from Oscar Invict 2.
03:54Can you get hold of local units at Glossom, please?
03:58See if any of those have got Stinger.
04:00Yes, yes.
04:02Oscar Tango 24 has now got contact with this vehicle.
04:06Pursuit is authorised at this time.
04:08Intel confirms the officers' suspicions.
04:11So this car we're following at the minute.
04:14We're just doing some checks on.
04:16It was actually stolen in a burglary.
04:18Coming up to how all these burglaries have been happening.
04:20We'll give it a stop just after these series events.
04:25It's just up there, I think.
04:27Hello, going into the Sturiches.
04:29Time for Glossom.
04:31Hello, this vehicle's now failing to stop.
04:34Excuse me, Oscar Romeo Victor 6.
04:36Stephen.
04:38Yes, Oscar Romeo Victor 6.
04:39Take all side pursuit.
04:40The suit is authorised with your vehicles.
04:42You've got the suit management training.
04:44The suit continues.
04:46With the car failing to stop, Luke and Nick try to get ahead.
04:50Yes, thank you for that.
04:52Pre-emptive tactics are authorised on that.
04:56If you are using Stinger, hard cover for Stinger, please.
05:00Hard cover for Stinger if Stinger being used.
05:02We are high street easting towards Glossom.
05:05Speed 5-0, DRA low.
05:07Yeah, thank you for that.
05:08Yeah, thank you for that.
05:09Thank you for that.
05:17Doing the resack.
05:19Get Stinger out.
05:23One to a stop on the marketplace.
05:25Get it, mate. Get it.
05:26Get it, mate.
05:30He's back up.
05:31He's gone out.
05:32He's rammed us.
05:33He's back up towards the police station.
05:35Oscar Romeo Victor 6.
05:37I get your vehicle rammed.
05:38Remember, I'm in.
05:39Third side, try the vehicle.
05:48There's a worrying trend now where they are willing to ram police vehicles, reverse ramming or head-on or smashing their way out the box until either they are free or they are disabled themselves.
05:59And those are the people that are the biggest risks to us.
06:00And those are the people that are the biggest risks to us.
06:02Oscar Romeo CR1.
06:03We're making our way over.
06:05Yeah, you won't get any more because the number plate for the vehicle is on the floor.
06:09No, no, no.
06:10It's rammed us.
06:12From an ACL2, can I confirm that there's no injuries to officers in the ramming of the vehicle or so?
06:18From 6 alpha, no, no injuries.
06:21It's a very safe one now.
06:22We've got one male in come.
06:25One male detained at this present time.
06:28I can't be 100% sure, but you can only see one male getting out of the front passenger seat,
06:32which will be the male that's been detained, so he's from the seat passenger.
06:36So this car's driven directly at me.
06:39Ridiculous.
06:40You're tilling people, mate.
06:42I told them to blow.
06:43Did you now?
06:44Yeah.
06:45Have you got anything on you?
06:46You've got your phone, haven't you?
06:47Yeah, you've got my phone.
06:48Is it your car?
06:49No, it's not mine.
06:50Whose car is it?
06:51Who's that?
06:52I don't know.
06:53You don't know who was driving it?
06:54I'm not trying to...
06:55I know.
06:56You've already tried to run off once, mate.
06:57So I don't believe you.
06:58I think you're a liar.
06:59Sit down.
07:01So unbelievably selfish.
07:03I think I don't tried.
07:04You have, mate, because you ran off from that car that's just smashed up some police cars
07:07and nearly killed someone in the bottom of there.
07:08So I'd suggest you have got stuff to hide, aren't you?
07:11It's high risk for us if we're chasing these cars and trying to get them stopped.
07:15It's dangerous for the person driving the subject car, because the injuries they could cause
07:21to themselves if they were to have a collision, and obviously other road users.
07:25Some innocent member of the public could just go in about the daily business.
07:30And a car that's found the stock for the police plows into the side of it.
07:34Our project's here.
07:35One, go ahead.
07:36Four to one in the morning, you're under arrest on the position of a temp burglary.
07:40All right.
07:41OK?
07:42Luke and Nick continue the search for the driver.
07:45And they're from Victor 4, we drove all the way up to the woodhead, then turn left to the top,
07:52back to one King Whistle.
07:53It's all negative up there.
07:56And now, screw on the OCO1.
07:58They said there were two vehicles together, didn't they?
08:00Yeah, I think at some point when the vehicle was first sighted, it was said that it was possibly in convoy with another vehicle.
08:10Was that confirmed or not, that that was the case?
08:15Yeah, it's a possibility of another end.
08:20Any else screw on the OCO1?
08:32Elmer, you all right?
08:33Yeah, you all right.
08:34Yeah, good.
08:35These were some of you who just had a vehicle fail to stop just down from where you guys have pulled out from.
08:39I was checking you're nothing to do with it.
08:42Is it your vehicle?
08:43Yeah, it's mine.
08:44Sounds lovely.
08:45Have you got your driving licence for doing anything?
08:46No reports, documents in order showing female policy holder.
08:51The driver and vehicle details check out.
08:55Sounds, yeah.
08:56Nice one.
08:57All right, mate.
08:58Cheers.
08:59See you.
09:00After two hours searching, there's still no sign of the Audi driver or the second car in the convoy.
09:11I'm just going to have a quick conflag with Scotty and then we'll see what we're doing from there.
09:18But it could have gone miles, couldn't it?
09:20This type of criminality is rife.
09:27Has it got run over?
09:28Yeah.
09:29Your dash cam's not going to have picked up any faces, is it?
09:34There's that many people linked to the OCGs.
09:37We arrest some, then the next night there's another two or three wanting to take the place.
09:42I think, to be honest, we're going to be dropping most of the fleet off at workshops.
09:47These people are willing to basically put themselves in a position where they could die to get away
09:52and potentially cause somebody else to die.
09:55I can't imagine what goes through the mind of someone that's willing to take that risk.
10:03Coming up.
10:06Another suspect car.
10:08Oscar Victor 2 behind.
10:10Triggers a high-speed chase.
10:12It's currently 1-0-0.
10:14And a week-long manhunt leads to a dawn raid.
10:19There's a minute.
10:20Young's arrest.
10:25The End
10:27The End
10:28The End
10:29The End
10:30The End
10:31The End
10:32The End
10:34The End
10:35The End
10:36The End
10:37The End
10:38The End
10:39The End
10:40I'm getting towards 30.
10:41Due to a spate of burglaries on the Derbyshire border, the rogue crime team is targeting organised crime gangs.
10:50We've had a sighting of a clone Vauxhall insignia.
10:53PC Nick Lovett and three other car units are in pursuit of another suspect car.
11:00Just coming off at 30.
11:02Cloned vehicle is basically any vehicle that's had its identity changed predominantly via the change of registration plates.
11:12It can hide the fact that the vehicle is stolen or it could be used to basically avoid detection when they are out committing crime.
11:21They will travel to an area on one set of plates, commit what crime they wish to do and then come away on a different set of registration plates.
11:29Near Sheffield, PC John Terry and Sergeant Luke Christian spot the suspect.
11:38the suspect.
11:39the suspect.
11:40the suspect.
11:45what are the units have we got in here?
11:46which way are you going?
11:52Which way are you going?
12:06Right, right, right.
12:09It's one adult male driver.
12:11The speed at this time is 9-0.
12:14Are there any other units in the area?
12:19Yes.
12:20Oscar and Victor 2 behind.
12:22We're just passing the co-op to the near side.
12:26Speed's currently 7-0.
12:28There's no pedestrian activity.
12:30Traffic is live.
12:32The vehicle's passing the Gulf petrol station to the near side.
12:38Speed is 7-0.
12:41Overtake to a member of the public.
12:45We'll approach the Gulf force.
12:47Nick and another unit race to catch up with the pursuit.
12:51He's currently blocked by slow-moving traffic.
12:56The vehicle negotiates near side bend.
12:58The DRA's still medium.
12:59You can never sum up the level of risk that these people will take.
13:04He takes his life in his own hands.
13:06He's now bringing in everybody else that's in that area.
13:10And putting them at risk.
13:12Subject vehicles approaching members of the public.
13:15It's currently 1-0 over there.
13:18He's playing with people's lives.
13:19an eye of the public.
13:21It's left left left.
13:22This is cool.
13:25And it's right right right.
13:29It's now left left left left.
13:44it's a total loss it's numerous little side bits it could get off
13:59while John searches the dirt track Nick and other units around the area we're just trying
14:08plot the area with all the cars see if we can pick it up again we have to find that balance of
14:28continuing that suit against what risks that that driver is taking but then to lose that
14:35vehicle is infuriating and frustrating speeds that he got up to I think it was reported as 1 0 0 at
14:54one point it's wet damp so yeah it's not good conditions to be carrying that kind of high
14:59speeds around if they know the area better than we do they know places where they can go that we
15:07can't they'll go off-road they don't care about destroying their vehicles they don't care about
15:13road traffic laws we've now got officers going back to back to the petrol station it pulled into it was
15:24fueling up so it could be that we get good good image of the driver that can give us a lead and
15:35identify who it is armed with CCTV footage and the suspects address PC Nick Lovett and officers are
15:59closing in for an arrest hello sorry to wait you up at this time right at the minute you're under arrest
16:23the dangerous driving failed to stop for police okay that was a few days ago oh gloves all grip
16:31nice little burgling kit isn't it these are all these tools there was bags of tools drills pliers
16:39there's all sorts of things that had he had those in the vehicle out in the public you would strongly
16:44suspect that he was going to be using those tools for going equipped fences okay where's that part
16:51we need to keep searching in here we're going to tell us where that car's part that'll be part
17:00around this yeah we'll find it right I'll go have a look at it for this well sit tight for a minute
17:06maybe we need to find where this car's parked right now it's time to play hunt the car
17:12vehicle located
17:32hey there mate uh the vehicle is parked on the road adjacent to where the house is
17:40could you run me a a vin check please it's on a voxel insignia yeah no problem
17:50tag is there too it doesn't appear to be any form of clone back on its original plates
17:55shows there's insurance not held no reports on it it's not nicked
17:59a few sets of plates in there
18:13you've got to park it somewhere discreet and out of the way
18:22parked on a random well it won't be a random drive you'll know who lives here so
18:26no tried to uh get it moved oh how long has it been there for um came yesterday
18:40well someone just dumped it on your driveway oh yeah yeah oh so i have to kill
18:45have you got any relatives that live on this estate yeah oh who's the relatives i've got
18:50two
18:51it's nice that we've um got here tonight obviously failed to stop and drove dangerously for us the
18:59other night um so for us to locate him with the key and now find the vehicle parked up around the
19:07corner yeah it's a really good result so he's on his way to custody now uh i've also found some
19:12tools in his bedroom that he can't account for a bit of a burglars toolkit so uh he'll be interviewed
19:18about that in the morning and we'll see what he's got to say what that vehicle has been involved in
19:23or what it was planned to be involved in we probably will never know can you arrange recovery please
19:30yeah no problem what we can say is that that vehicle would not be being used for any legitimate
19:37reasons by taking that vehicle off him has disrupted him for that for that moment in time
19:43coming up yes yes two vehicles making off more cross-border criminals there was two in convoy
19:54putting lives in danger that was insane and a routine stop how long has he been in uk three years
20:02oh three years yeah uncovers some suspicious activity 38 20 pound notes 42 tens
20:10could be a ford it's gone left onto town lane uh both the van and the uh the ford
20:4010 miles east of manchester pc nick lovett and derbyshire's road crime team are patrolling the
20:47county's northwest border they've split now one's gone right and then the other's gone and turned
20:55around where are you luke nick suspects the car ahead is scouting the area for targets
21:07a lot of cross-border criminality it is ocg organized crime group led the subject vehicle
21:13to be attacked is usually identified by persons within the group that have gone ahead and they
21:19will spot the vehicles to be stolen say again petrol station petrol station i don't know mate
21:27all right all right all right all right they're definitely stopping
21:33this stopping
21:38just uh give it a pull
21:42we all come on roads policing for the reasons of stopping criminality on the roads
21:48and a lot of that is when cars pass you how is that driver acting are they prepared to look at
21:55you or are they trying to look away from you how is the vehicle reacting and that will give you a good
21:59idea as to what that vehicle is genuinely up to
22:02i couldn't talk to you well enough there mate
22:13yeah what's up
22:15hey
22:15you've got your driving lights on you pal
22:17no i haven't
22:17you haven't
22:18nah
22:18i just need to do some checks
22:20and you're following a van
22:22yeah yeah
22:23okay
22:23and then you've gone and turned around and come back
22:25yeah
22:26okay
22:26yeah so i'm just going to do some checks have you got any idea on you whatsoever
22:29no nothing got nothing absolutely nothing nothing at all about all right okay
22:34we are trained to follow our instincts so 90 of the time when you look at the vehicle
22:41and think there's something not quite right you are going to be right
22:45luke arrives to help nick
22:48they were definitely following that man yeah 100 they were following that man yeah 100
22:56have you got any idea on you pal
23:00nah mate nah
23:01nah
23:02nah
23:02you just come out you just come out for a drive have you
23:05come for the mission are you bro
23:06eh
23:07i've ever come for the mission me man
23:08come for the mission
23:09yeah
23:09are you known to the police still
23:11nah not really man
23:12nah not really
23:13not really man
23:14not really
23:15when i was a kid
23:16minor stuff man
23:16minor stuff
23:17no
23:17okay
23:18Oscar tango 49
23:20yeah correct vehicle insurance is held
23:22no report called so it appears to be the genuine
23:24right yeah it's all good all right all good yeah all good all good see a bit
23:30is there something going on tonight or something
23:33no mate no just general policing
23:36you were definitely following that van
23:40right
23:43he'll feature again
23:46they were following that van that's my that well that's my gut feeling
23:57and there it goes
24:01so i believe the vehicle was intending to steal a load from a van that's what i believe this
24:09vehicle was doing tonight definitely could have prevented the van being targeted but
24:15we'll never know
24:17as nick gets back on patrol he spots two more suspicious vehicles
24:29i've got two vehicles making off one lane towards broad bottom
24:36two vehicles making off
24:38gromio victor 2
24:39from zero one has confirmed you actively pursuing the vehicle
24:46yes yes two vehicles making off
24:49we're onto the bridge at broad bottom towards hattersley
24:54yep negative two far away all you know is one's a grey golf
25:00there was two in convoy
25:02losing sight of the vehicles nick requests back up from manchester's road crime unit
25:09can we get all the tvr you please
25:15we're currently broad bottom road
25:20yeah we're not going to come back the way please
25:23it's a broad bottom area
25:24and the vehicle's making off the road
25:26from zero one that's all received
25:30are you able to jump onto the gmp in top channel to make them aware
25:33because obviously they'll need to run any pursuit
25:37can i just confirm if we've got any gmp control room on who would be able to run a pursuit on this channel
25:44yeah
25:45currently broad bottom road towards mottram moore
25:51it's a total loss on market street
25:56i think it's a left left left hide road
26:04and that is a negative negative it's not
26:09i believe they will have gone into hattersley estate
26:13over policing everything goes in peaks and troughs
26:15years back pursuits were regular night in night out
26:18and then pursuits seem to dwindle away
26:21but now that trend is coming back
26:23some nights there's multiple pursuits in a night
26:25that's within derbyshire
26:27and every time a pursuit happens
26:28it's the potential consequences of that pursuit that's worrying
26:31i don't know mate i think it was a mercedes
26:38they will have gone through one minute
26:40yes yes they'll have gone through
26:42an agent inquiry gone back then please
26:45the rear vehicle was definitely a grey gulf
26:50i can't give you the first vehicle in the line
26:52from a member of the public apparently had done a u-turn and gone to the hattersley estate
27:09Manchester's officers join the search
27:16Manchester's officers join the search
27:18have we got it that way?
27:20yeah there's two lads in that
27:22say again
27:23two lads in that
27:24we just come out of here
27:25one of us took a tumble and he ran off
27:27so we'd only presume whatever he's been in is over here
27:30on test goals
27:32that was insane
27:39definitely two
27:41two cars
27:42both in convoy
27:43yeah they've gone that way
27:44he's just seen them take a tumble that way
27:47GMP dogs now out
27:51that was insane
27:55one of the GMP units, TVI units, have been coming down here and seen two running across the road
28:01one's taken a tumble and they've gone straight across there
28:04so potentially whatever they've nicked
28:07erm
28:08and the gulf
28:10could be in there
28:12but obviously you can hear the dogs out tracking so
28:15can you see how to?
28:17found the car
28:18Luke's found one of these cars
28:21has he? where?
28:22it's abandoned
28:24it's up there
28:25right
28:26you there Luke
28:27half a mile away
28:30the second vehicle that failed to stop for Nick has been found
28:33but there's no sign of the gulf
28:35so they've changed the place already
28:39doing well aren't they? elastic bands
28:41it is an SQ5
28:43is it?
28:44didn't even make that mate
28:45it went onto Long Lane
28:46that quick
28:47couldn't even tell you what the front car was
28:48when you've got criminals that are hopping overboard
28:51they try and do it very quickly
28:53get over the border
28:54commit the crime
28:55disappear
28:56before even the crime is reported
28:58and it just makes our job of finding them just that little bit harder
29:01can we come up again tonight so we can catch them so I can have my pants back?
29:05forty miles south
29:07fifty miles south
29:0950 miles south. PC Matt Cork is on patrol in Derby.
29:39He's heading to assist a colleague who's stopped a suspect car.
29:492-8, I'm with it.
29:56Hello, guys. 3-8.
29:58There's been some recent intel re-black galaxies and use in crime in the area.
30:03In my experience, there are lots of different telltale signs about vehicles and people
30:08that just scream something's not right.
30:10Yeah. How long has he been in the UK?
30:12About three years.
30:14Three years. Has he got a UK driving licence?
30:16No, he's...
30:16OK.
30:18The licence check raises suspicions.
30:21So, because he's been here for more than a year, it means that his Albanian licence is no longer...
30:27It means that he should have got UK licence.
30:29I don't drive more than one year.
30:33But because he's been in the country for more than one year, that means you have 12 months
30:37from coming into the country, you understand?
30:39So, we will sort out some bits and bobs with him, OK?
30:44We'll be having the car anyway, for no licence, no insurance, because he's obviously over the 12 months.
30:49And have you got an immigration number to hand?
30:52Right. Got vehicles stopped.
30:55Three gentlemen from Albania.
30:58Correct.
30:58So, I'd just like an immigration check, please.
31:02Yeah, pass details.
31:04Have you got some ID as well, mate?
31:06I just need to check your ID.
31:07Yeah, or the photo of it, or even better if you've got the card.
31:10Excellent. Thank you.
31:13Albanian driving licence.
31:16So, rear seat passenger has also provided Albanian driving licence.
31:19What's his immigration status?
31:22He's not started immigration.
31:24He's not started it?
31:25No. How long has he been here?
31:29One year.
31:29He's been here one year?
31:32Definitely one year?
31:32One year.
31:34OK, and how did...
31:36One year and a few months. How did he come to the UK?
31:40With a truck.
31:41On a truck?
31:43Right, OK.
31:44In 2020, you know?
31:46In 2020.
31:47So, he's been in the UK for more than a year, then?
31:49It's been nearly three years, hasn't it?
31:51No, three years.
31:52Yeah.
31:52Year and a bit, three years.
31:54The big difference is nearly twice the difference.
31:57With anybody that we can't find on a police national computer that isn't a sort of permanent
32:03resident of the UK. We always look to check them through immigration. And on checking these three
32:07mails through immigration, one of them has been found to be here illegally.
32:13Right, you're going to be detained on the Immigration Act.
32:15One day immigration, leaving Albania.
32:20Yeah.
32:20Yeah, I know, but you've not made contact with anybody, so nobody knows that you are here.
32:26Brother, I come in now, not good Albania, brother.
32:30No, I'm not saying Albania is good, and I'm not saying that there's not better places in
32:34the world or not worse places in the world. So, you're going to come with me to police station,
32:38and immigration will come speak to you there, and then they will sort out going into the future.
32:42You're okay, brother, are you?
32:44Okay. Have a seat there for me. Put your seatbelt on.
32:47Often, these minor little offences can be the tip of the iceberg, can be that little bit of
32:53thread that unravels it all, and something like that can quickly lead to a much bigger job.
32:58Thanks for your patience, pal.
33:12So, he's been detained by myself, so that he can be seen in the morning by immigration.
33:28Super. Just take your coat off. All the way.
33:37A recent cross-border operation foiled a Derbyshire-based Albanian gang,
33:41which was running drugs across county lines.
33:45Police believe there are other networks operating in the area run by illegal immigrants.
33:55In Derbyshire has been an increase recently in offences involving members of Western Balkan
34:01or Albanian organized crime gangs. Often young males, often involved in the cultivation of cannabis.
34:11There are other networks in the area run by illegal immigrants.
34:14Thirty-eight, twenty-pound notes.
34:24Forty-two tens.
34:25Forty-two tens. What's that bring us up to?
34:28Forty-one-one-eight-seven.
34:29Forty-one-one-eight-seven.
34:34This gent's obviously here illegally, so this chap shouldn't be working. However,
34:38he's clearly got his own bank card. He's got over a thousand pound in cash on him. He's got three
34:44SIM cards. Yeah, you know, I dare say average Joe doesn't carry three SIM cards over a grand in cash,
34:49whilst being carried around a car that's not insured by somebody who shouldn't be driving. If I was a betting man,
34:56I'd probably be led to believe that he may be involved in some form of criminality, be that
35:01OCGs and organized criminal groups. The man will be interviewed by immigration services in the morning.
35:09Coming up. Mercedes in black. Driver's side door was open. There was a mail getting out.
35:17More car criminals on the run. Stand by, stand by. I might have this vehicle.
35:22Minutes after a burglary. Yeah, I'm with that vehicle now. It is empty. Engine's still running.
35:39I'm with that. Units start making their way towards a break in progress. Vehicle being stolen.
35:52The Mercedes just been stolen in Derby.
35:57Obviously, I want you to have to have a way of that. We'll see if we've got something.
36:03Three miles outside Derby, PC Matt Cork is responding to a suspected car theft.
36:09We're making our way into Derby because in the last five minutes, somebody's high-performance Mercedes
36:15AMG has been stolen. They've got all the keys for the vehicle.
36:20Car theft is massively on the increase. A lot of it is done by organized crime gangs.
36:25The only thing they do in life is go out and steal people's cars. They're in, they're out, they're gone,
36:29which makes catching them and disrupting that extremely difficult. You've got to be in the right
36:34place at the right time sometimes, and you've got to have luck on your side.
36:39It's a bit of a strange place to stop, considering the services wasn't more than 150 yards further on.
36:57And to me, that screams somebody who doesn't want to pull into the services and risk being seen on camera.
37:02Yeah, I suspect it's going to be changing plates as we speak.
37:07Just turning around at dumbbells now. 24, what units have I got near me, please?
37:11Foxhaw 3, we're going to go to 25.
37:19Stand by, stand by. I think this might have this vehicle.
37:23Got this vehicle, I think, at the services.
37:37Can I get units to the services, please? I dare say they've gone off through the bushes.
37:53Yeah, and with that vehicle now, it is empty. Engine's still running.
37:57These people will have gone into the undergrowth.
38:09Literally minutes, mate. Literally minutes, because as I've flown down this way,
38:13there's somebody getting out of it, so they're going to be in this sort of area.
38:16This undergrowth is very, very thick, so they're going to struggle to get through it at any sort of speed.
38:28I keep just hoping that I'm going to see some legs, to be honest.
38:34I'm not going to touch the car, because marks like this could well, if they've not got gloves on,
38:39could well leave some sort of forensic evidence.
38:422-8, can we get recovery rolling for this, please, forensics?
38:47We've been here that quick that they've not even had a chance to change the plates.
38:51I dare say they will be within half a mile of us at this point,
38:54so obviously we can't leave this vehicle in case they end up getting it started again and turn up to tech in.
39:03So yeah, this vehicle's been stolen within the last five minutes, probably three miles out from the address.
39:07I imagine the intention was to get out, change the plates over,
39:11and then carry on the journey.
39:12Whether or not they've seen us and thought they're too close to us and they're on us,
39:16and given it up straight away, or whether they've had some sort of issue and couldn't get it started
39:20again is yet to be seen.
39:23The key thing now is to get some more units to us, hopefully get the dog into the area.
39:30If these individuals have gone that way, into undergrowth, there is no way that they can get out of here
39:36without using a road or getting picked up in a taxi, so there's a good chance they are still
39:42hiding somewhere in the undergrowth.
39:44I say not be onto the grass at all, but obviously I have no idea which way they've gone.
39:48It could well be that these individuals have actually crossed the carriageway and have fled that way.
39:54There's a number of units plotted up on all possible escape routes from that sort of area.
40:00The dog has now picked up what seems to be quite a good track, and he's come across some footprints.
40:20So fingers crossed, we get some suspects.
40:29I've just checked the farm across the road. This is where we've just lost the track.
40:33Yeah, received, thanks.
40:37It's a bit of a kick in the teeth when they get away, but out of two situations where we see the car get
40:42away with the people inside it, or we see the people get away, but we manage to return somebody's
40:47pride and joy to them. Within ten minutes of them calling the job in, I'll take that over a total loss.
40:53Hey mate, it's left running. I don't know whether it'll move at all, so I'll let you pull in front, all right?
41:04The fact that the vehicle still obviously runs, there's an error message up on the dash saying
41:09that keys aren't present. I think that suggests that we've been the key to disrupting this,
41:15and preventing that vehicle from disappearing. I'd describe their actions as cheap, cowardly,
41:21sneaking around in the day of the night, pinching people's cars off the driveways, lazy, not fancy
41:26working for yourself, working to get your own car to get a career behind you. I've not got a great
41:31opinion of those sorts of people. So yeah, absolutely great, fantastic result that we've got it stopped.
41:37And obviously there's going to be a very happy owner of this vehicle to know that we've got it back
41:42in such a short space of time.
41:52Police estimate there are hundreds of organised car crime gangs responsible for hundreds of burglaries
41:57and car thefts across Derbyshire every year. Travelling criminals coming across the border
42:04to burglar addresses to steal cars, and there's been a huge increase in that recently. It's a massive
42:09issue at the minute, to the point that sometimes this is happening every night of the week. You know,
42:13it's an absolutely terrifying thought. Criminals using vehicles as part of their everyday criminal lives,
42:19and using those vehicles in a dangerous and reckless manner to commit cross-border criminality,
42:25and we are there with the skills to get them stopped safely. I'm still motivated and committed
42:32to going out and practically hunting down the people that cause misery to others. These kind
42:38of people do need stopping and putting them before the courts. In this episode,
42:43It's come to a stop on the marketplace. Inquiries into the identity of the Audi driver who rammed
42:50Mark Scott and Mark Scott are ongoing. He's got it out, he's robbed us. Ridiculous. End up killing people, mate.
42:58His passenger was charged with burglary with intent to steal, but later released without action.
43:03Oscar Hivik2 behind. The driver of the cloned Vauxhall Insignia was found guilty of failing to stop,
43:12dangerous driving, uninsured and unlicensed driving... Vehicle located.
43:16...and handling stolen goods. You're under arrest for dangerous driving, failed to stop for police,
43:22OK? He received a 26-week suspended sentence and was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered
43:29to retake his test. Yes, yes, two vehicles making off. Police are still on the hunt for the Audi and
43:35Golf drivers who disappeared near the Manchester border. Can we come up again tonight so we can catch
43:40him so, can I'm with pants back there? Yeah. The Audi itself was returned to its owner.
43:46No, no, not good Albanian driver. Hmm. The Albanian man arrested for immigration
43:53offences was passed to the border force and confirmed to have entered the UK illegally.
43:58He's been deported and his cash retained under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
44:03The driver's side door was open. There was a male getting out. And inquiries are ongoing in relation
44:10to the driver of the stolen Mercedes abandoned on the M1. Literally minutes, because as I've flown
44:15down this way, there's somebody getting out of it, so they're going to be in this sort of area.
44:19After carrying out forensic tests, police returned the vehicle to its owner.
44:35The driver's side door is connected to the authorities.
