00:05The Crown has officially found its Princess Diana.
00:08Netflix announced the big news on Sunday,
00:10revealing that actress Elizabeth Debicki has been cast as the late royal in the fifth and sixth seasons of the series.
00:16The actress will be taking over the role from newcomer Emma Corrin,
00:19who is originating the role of Diana Spencer in The Crown's upcoming fourth season.
00:23Debicki, who is also set to appear in Christopher Nolan's upcoming highly-anticipated release Tenet,
00:28spoke out about the news in a Twitter announcement saying,
00:31Princess Diana's spirit, her words, and her actions live in the hearts of so many.
00:36It is my true privilege and honor to be joining this masterful series,
00:39which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.
00:42As far as how the series is set to wrap up,
00:44The Crown creator, Peter Morgan, announced in January that the royal drama would end after five seasons,
00:49but later announced that he'd changed his mind and would carry on with six seasons,
00:54taking the series into the 21st century.
00:56The filming for the series' fourth season wrapped in London at the start of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
01:01A premiere date has yet to be announced.
01:03Apart from Debicki, other actors set to join the star in the fifth and sixth seasons
01:07include Imelda Staunton, who will succeed Claire Foy and Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth,
01:12Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret, and Jonathan Pryce, who will take over as Prince Philip.
