On a day filled with explosive news about Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced and troubled film mogul has found an ally in Lindsay Lohan.

00:03Harvey Weinstein has found an ally in Lindsay Lohan. The actress has come to the defense of

00:08the mogul producer in the wake of countless allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

00:13Lohan, who appeared in the Weinstein company's Bobby and Scary Movie 5, posted a series of

00:18clips on Instagram's Stories feature that asked people to stop attacking the producer.

00:24The clips have since been deleted from her account, but BuzzFeed snagged them first.

00:28After expressing sympathy for Weinstein, Lohan said,

00:36Weinstein's wife of 10 years, Marquesa designer Georgina Chapman, announced Tuesday that she

00:40was leaving him in the wake of a new batch of horrifying allegations published in the

00:45New Yorker and the New York Times. Chapman asked for privacy as she cares for the couple's

00:49two young children.

00:50My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these

00:55unforgivable actions, she said.

00:57In her Instagram clip, Lohan said she was not among those hurt by Weinstein.

01:01He's never harmed me or did anything to me. We've done several movies together, she pointed out.

01:06And so I think everyone needs to stop. I think it's wrong. So stand up.

01:10Wrong is a word that has been used many times, but on the other side of the fence by those

01:15who have spoken out against Weinstein's alleged misconduct.

01:18Barack and Michelle Obama are just two of the high-profile people who have released

01:22statements on the scandal, saying,

01:24Lohan's attempts to defend Weinstein, who has admitted some responsibility in the shocking

01:36allegations made against him, and who is said to be en route to rehab in Europe via private jet,

01:41did not go over well on social media.

01:43However, Rose McGowan, who was one of the actresses victimized by Weinstein, has come

01:48to Lohan's defense. McGowan took to Twitter to write,

01:51Please go easy on Lindsay Lohan. Being a child actor turned sex symbol twists the brain in

01:56ways you can't comprehend. It's not the first time Lohan has caught a controversy by

02:01offering support for controversial figures. Earlier this year, she attempted to silence

02:05President Donald Trump's critics by tweeting,

02:08Stop bullying him and start trusting him. Thank you personally for supporting the USA.
