00:00
Thank you very much, everybody. It is beautiful. Not too cold. There's no wind.
00:05
We don't have to wear hats or anything. This is a special time.
00:09
And Melania and I are thrilled to wish everyone here tonight and Americans all across this land a very, very Merry Christmas.
00:18
So is everybody ready to light the beautiful Christmas tree? Are you ready?
00:23
So the first lady is going to do the honors and we're going to do a countdown.
00:31
We'll go from five to zero. Okay. Five, four, three, two, one.
00:44
Good job, honey.
00:53
Well, thank you very much. And thank you, Melania.
01:18
And it's a beautiful job they did in creating that tree. It's a beauty.
01:24
And let me also recognize Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha.
01:34
As well as Secretaries Scott Besant, Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi,
01:43
Secretaries Doug Burgum and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
01:49
Administrator Kelly Loeffler and their wonderful families are doing a fantastic job.
01:54
And I see out in the audience the great one, Wayne Gretzky and Janet.
01:59
Thank you very much, Wayne, for being here.
02:01
He's used to this kind of weather.
02:04
Let's also express our gratitude to the great people of the National Park Service.
02:09
They're incredible, the job they've done.
02:11
As well as the unbelievable performers here tonight.
02:16
You're going to see some incredible performers.
02:19
And we have in the audience the Beach Boys. They're great.
02:23
During this holy season, Christians everywhere rejoice at the miracle.
02:28
In Bethlehem, more than 2,000 years ago,
02:32
when the Son of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
02:35
came down from heaven to be with us.
02:38
And you're right. Full of grace and truth,
02:42
he brought the gift of God's love into the world
02:46
and the promise of salvation for every person and every nation.
02:51
And we just settled another war today.
02:53
You saw that with Rwanda and the Congo.
02:56
It's been going on for 34 years.
02:59
Millions of people killed.
03:01
Could be 20 million.
03:02
They don't know what the number is.
03:03
And we just settled it today.
03:04
That was a big one.
03:05
We're very happy to announce it on this important day.
03:10
Tonight, this beautiful evergreen tree glows bright on the dark and cold winter night
03:15
and reminds us of the words of the Gospel of John,
03:18
and in him was life and that life was the light of all mankind.
03:24
Beautiful words.
03:26
With the birth of Jesus, human history turned from night to day.
03:30
His word and his example call us to love one another,
03:34
to serve one another,
03:35
and to honor the sacred truth that every child is specially made in the image of God.
03:41
For 250 years, think of it, our country is 250 years.
03:49
It's a big year.
03:50
I'm so happy that our presidency was delayed.
03:54
Otherwise, I'd be sitting home watching television, not being invited.
03:58
I would be extremely upset.
04:00
And remember, we have not only the 250 years, but we have...
04:04
This is a big one.
04:05
We have the World Cup and we have the Olympics coming up
04:09
all within this four-year period.
04:11
See, if they didn't rig the election, I would have been sitting...
04:16
Because can you imagine?
04:17
I wouldn't have any of them.
04:18
And I probably wouldn't have been invited.
04:20
I would have been very upset by that.
04:22
But America has stood tall in part because millions of our citizens
04:26
have heeded that call,
04:28
and the faith and service of Christians
04:31
have been essential parts of America's strength
04:34
from the very, very beginning.
04:36
Incredible.
04:37
We love the Christians.
04:38
We love all religions.
04:39
And, by the way, religion is coming back to the USA.
04:43
You see that very strongly.
04:46
So this Christmas season, let me say thank you to everyone
04:50
who serves the needy and lifts up the communities inspired by faith.
04:55
Thank you to the police, law enforcement officers,
04:58
first responders, ICE, and border patrol agents
05:02
who risked their lives every day to defend the innocent,
05:06
protect the good, and keep the evil and danger at bay.
05:10
And thank you to the men and women of the United States military,
05:13
including the brave heroes of our National Guard
05:16
here in Washington, D.C.,
05:18
where we've set a record for lack of crime in 28 years.
05:23
So I just want to say we have a great, a great place.
05:30
And I want to pay my highest respects
05:32
to those two great guardsmen.
05:35
You know who I'm talking about.
05:38
They paid, in one case, the ultimate and the other.
05:41
Andrew is getting better.
05:43
Sarah, unfortunately, is watching from a high,
05:46
watching from heaven.
05:47
Her parents are so incredible.
05:48
And Andrew is hopefully getting better.
05:53
He got hit hard defending us.
05:56
And I just want to pay my respects to them,
05:58
two incredible people, unbelievable people.
06:01
I spoke with the parents and met the parents today,
06:03
the parents of Andrew.
06:04
And they have spirit,
06:07
and they love our country so much you wouldn't believe.
06:09
But as a nation, we have much to be grateful for.
06:13
On this holiday season, our border is secure.
06:16
Our spirit is restored.
06:17
Most secure border we've ever had in the history of our country.
06:22
Seven months, and nobody has come in illegally into our country.
06:26
Nobody.
06:27
Not one.
06:29
Our economy is thriving.
06:30
Inflation has stopped.
06:31
Our nation is strong.
06:33
And America is back bigger and better,
06:36
stronger, better than ever before.
06:38
Think of it.
06:39
And we're making peace all over the world.
06:41
We're settling wars at levels that nobody's ever seen before.
06:45
Eight of them.
06:46
We're looking for one more.
06:47
That's Russia, Ukraine, if that's possible.
06:50
And I think we'll get there eventually.
06:52
Last week, 8,000 soldiers killed last month.
06:57
They had 27,000 soldiers needlessly killed.
07:01
We've got to get that stopped.
07:02
We're working very hard on it.
07:04
Just over one year ago,
07:05
our country was in very, very serious trouble.
07:11
The king of Saudi Arabia said to me very strongly, sir,
07:15
one year ago, your country was dead.
07:17
Now you have the strongest and hottest country anywhere in the world.
07:20
Can you imagine?
07:21
We did this in 10 months.
07:23
What a difference.
07:24
Yes, and it's true.
07:25
Everybody feels that, and all leaders feel that.
07:29
So as we prepare to celebrate the miracle of Christmas,
07:32
we thank God for his many blessings.
07:34
And together, we rejoice at the true source of greatness, happiness, and strength.
07:39
The good news is that glorious nights 2,000 years ago,
07:44
think of it 2,000 years ago.
07:46
It was indeed a glorious night.
07:49
So I want to thank everybody here.
07:51
I want to pay my deepest respect and love to all of our great citizens,
07:57
like 350 million people.
08:00
We love them all.
08:02
Whether you like them or not, we love them all.
08:05
We want to take care of everybody.
08:06
We have to take care of everybody in our country.
08:08
I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
08:12
and have a good time.
08:15
And you're going to see some great entertainment.
08:17
Thank you very much, everybody.
08:19
Merry Christmas.
08:20
Happy Hanukkah.
08:21
Happy New Year.
08:22
Thank you, everybody.
