00:00Thank you very much, everybody. It is beautiful. Not too cold. There's no wind.
00:05We don't have to wear hats or anything. This is a special time.
00:09And Melania and I are thrilled to wish everyone here tonight and Americans all across this land a very, very Merry Christmas.
00:18So is everybody ready to light the beautiful Christmas tree? Are you ready?
00:23So the first lady is going to do the honors and we're going to do a countdown.
00:31We'll go from five to zero. Okay. Five, four, three, two, one.
00:44Good job, honey.
00:53Well, thank you very much. And thank you, Melania.
01:18And it's a beautiful job they did in creating that tree. It's a beauty.
01:24And let me also recognize Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha.
01:34As well as Secretaries Scott Besant, Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi,
01:43Secretaries Doug Burgum and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
01:49Administrator Kelly Loeffler and their wonderful families are doing a fantastic job.
01:54And I see out in the audience the great one, Wayne Gretzky and Janet.
01:59Thank you very much, Wayne, for being here.
02:01He's used to this kind of weather.
02:04Let's also express our gratitude to the great people of the National Park Service.
02:09They're incredible, the job they've done.
02:11As well as the unbelievable performers here tonight.
02:16You're going to see some incredible performers.
02:19And we have in the audience the Beach Boys. They're great.
02:23During this holy season, Christians everywhere rejoice at the miracle.
02:28In Bethlehem, more than 2,000 years ago,
02:32when the Son of God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
02:35came down from heaven to be with us.
02:38And you're right. Full of grace and truth,
02:42he brought the gift of God's love into the world
02:46and the promise of salvation for every person and every nation.
02:51And we just settled another war today.
02:53You saw that with Rwanda and the Congo.
02:56It's been going on for 34 years.
02:59Millions of people killed.
03:01Could be 20 million.
03:02They don't know what the number is.
03:03And we just settled it today.
03:04That was a big one.
03:05We're very happy to announce it on this important day.
03:10Tonight, this beautiful evergreen tree glows bright on the dark and cold winter night
03:15and reminds us of the words of the Gospel of John,
03:18and in him was life and that life was the light of all mankind.
03:24Beautiful words.
03:26With the birth of Jesus, human history turned from night to day.
03:30His word and his example call us to love one another,
03:34to serve one another,
03:35and to honor the sacred truth that every child is specially made in the image of God.
03:41For 250 years, think of it, our country is 250 years.
03:49It's a big year.
03:50I'm so happy that our presidency was delayed.
03:54Otherwise, I'd be sitting home watching television, not being invited.
03:58I would be extremely upset.
04:00And remember, we have not only the 250 years, but we have...
04:04This is a big one.
04:05We have the World Cup and we have the Olympics coming up
04:09all within this four-year period.
04:11See, if they didn't rig the election, I would have been sitting...
04:16Because can you imagine?
04:17I wouldn't have any of them.
04:18And I probably wouldn't have been invited.
04:20I would have been very upset by that.
04:22But America has stood tall in part because millions of our citizens
04:26have heeded that call,
04:28and the faith and service of Christians
04:31have been essential parts of America's strength
04:34from the very, very beginning.
04:36Incredible.
04:37We love the Christians.
04:38We love all religions.
04:39And, by the way, religion is coming back to the USA.
04:43You see that very strongly.
04:46So this Christmas season, let me say thank you to everyone
04:50who serves the needy and lifts up the communities inspired by faith.
04:55Thank you to the police, law enforcement officers,
04:58first responders, ICE, and border patrol agents
05:02who risked their lives every day to defend the innocent,
05:06protect the good, and keep the evil and danger at bay.
05:10And thank you to the men and women of the United States military,
05:13including the brave heroes of our National Guard
05:16here in Washington, D.C.,
05:18where we've set a record for lack of crime in 28 years.
05:23So I just want to say we have a great, a great place.
05:30And I want to pay my highest respects
05:32to those two great guardsmen.
05:35You know who I'm talking about.
05:38They paid, in one case, the ultimate and the other.
05:41Andrew is getting better.
05:43Sarah, unfortunately, is watching from a high,
05:46watching from heaven.
05:47Her parents are so incredible.
05:48And Andrew is hopefully getting better.
05:53He got hit hard defending us.
05:56And I just want to pay my respects to them,
05:58two incredible people, unbelievable people.
06:01I spoke with the parents and met the parents today,
06:03the parents of Andrew.
06:04And they have spirit,
06:07and they love our country so much you wouldn't believe.
06:09But as a nation, we have much to be grateful for.
06:13On this holiday season, our border is secure.
06:16Our spirit is restored.
06:17Most secure border we've ever had in the history of our country.
06:22Seven months, and nobody has come in illegally into our country.
06:26Nobody.
06:27Not one.
06:29Our economy is thriving.
06:30Inflation has stopped.
06:31Our nation is strong.
06:33And America is back bigger and better,
06:36stronger, better than ever before.
06:38Think of it.
06:39And we're making peace all over the world.
06:41We're settling wars at levels that nobody's ever seen before.
06:45Eight of them.
06:46We're looking for one more.
06:47That's Russia, Ukraine, if that's possible.
06:50And I think we'll get there eventually.
06:52Last week, 8,000 soldiers killed last month.
06:57They had 27,000 soldiers needlessly killed.
07:01We've got to get that stopped.
07:02We're working very hard on it.
07:04Just over one year ago,
07:05our country was in very, very serious trouble.
07:11The king of Saudi Arabia said to me very strongly, sir,
07:15one year ago, your country was dead.
07:17Now you have the strongest and hottest country anywhere in the world.
07:20Can you imagine?
07:21We did this in 10 months.
07:23What a difference.
07:24Yes, and it's true.
07:25Everybody feels that, and all leaders feel that.
07:29So as we prepare to celebrate the miracle of Christmas,
07:32we thank God for his many blessings.
07:34And together, we rejoice at the true source of greatness, happiness, and strength.
07:39The good news is that glorious nights 2,000 years ago,
07:44think of it 2,000 years ago.
07:46It was indeed a glorious night.
07:49So I want to thank everybody here.
07:51I want to pay my deepest respect and love to all of our great citizens,
07:57like 350 million people.
08:00We love them all.
08:02Whether you like them or not, we love them all.
08:05We want to take care of everybody.
08:06We have to take care of everybody in our country.
08:08I want to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
08:12and have a good time.
08:15And you're going to see some great entertainment.
08:17Thank you very much, everybody.
08:19Merry Christmas.
08:20Happy Hanukkah.
08:21Happy New Year.
08:22Thank you, everybody.
