00:00Hello, a blusterous, boisterous Saturday with gusty winds and plenty of showers.
00:06Another spell of wet and windy weather swinging across the country on Sunday.
00:09But there will be some sunshine in between.
00:12With that heady mix, it won't surprise you to see that it's low pressure dominating our weather charts.
00:17Look at the number of ice bars on the charts.
00:19It's going to be, as I said, a windy old day.
00:21These weather fronts trying to clear through, bringing some heavy rain on Friday
00:24and lingering into Saturday across northeastern parts of Scotland.
00:29But that low is also generating lots of showers.
00:31Bands of them whizzing in on a brisk westerly wind.
00:35Plenty of showers for South Wales, southwest England.
00:38Heavy ones, chance for the odd rumble of thunder.
00:41Now the ground's very wet here, of course, so extra heavy downpours far from welcome.
00:45And it won't just be in the southwest.
00:46We'll see the showers moving into parts of the Midlands, at times southwestern parts of Scotland.
00:51But maybe not too many getting to eastern areas.
00:53And some here may have a largely dry Saturday, with, at times, some sunny spells.
01:01There will be that brisk and gusty wind.
01:03The more persistent rain may be easing over northeast Scotland.
01:05But still more showers coming in here.
01:07And with the winds coming in from the North Sea, it's not going to feel particularly warm.
01:11But temperatures generally around, or in the south, maybe a touch above average.
01:16We're obviously feeling cooler with those gusty winds here too.
01:19And the fairly frequent showers.
01:21Now behind me, there's another weather system gathering.
01:23Almost a repeat performance as this weather front occludes out, as we say.
01:28The extension of that weather front, bringing a band of rain from west to east across the country.
01:33Still plenty of isobars, but perhaps not quite as windy on Sunday.
01:37But nevertheless, a pretty grim start for many.
01:40That bank of rain arching its way northward, spreading steadily across most of Scotland.
01:44But leaving in its wake, England, Wales, and much of Northern Ireland, something a bit brighter for Sunday afternoon.
01:50Some sunny spells coming through.
01:52A few showers coming into the north and the west.
01:55And it's not clear-cut in the south.
01:57Those weather fronts may not completely clear.
01:59So southernmost counties of England susceptible to sticking with the cloud.
02:03And at times, maybe even some drizzly rain.
02:05But for many, it will get brighter as we go through Sunday.
02:09And it'll be a little bit warmer as well.
02:11Temperatures 9 or 10 across the north, 11, 12, maybe 13 across the south.
02:15Compare those temperatures to the average for the middle of December.
02:19And you can see that a good part of central and eastern England and south Wales will be about 3 or 4 degrees above the average.
02:27And again, the wind's a touch lighter on Sunday.
02:30Plenty going on, as always, with the potential for more wet and windy weather early next week.
