00:00What does it mean to be here this morning presenting with your fellow One Battle After Another co-stars, Tiana and Chase?
00:06Yeah, I don't know if Tiana's here, but she's here in spirit. We hold her with us.
00:11But Chase is here. It's very wonderful. It's an incredible cause.
00:15And I think we're all, we're both very excited to be able to present like a scholarship to an entire,
00:23it's like I'm presenting with the entire new generation and then we're giving, you know, the scholarships to an entire generation.
00:32So it's pretty. It's so special. It's the only reason I'd get up this early to do hair and makeup.
00:38How does it feel to be in full glam at 8 a.m. in the morning?
00:42Oh, my gosh. I mean, you know, you get used to doing it for work, but it's different to do it for a carpet.
00:48But it's, of course, you know what I mean? It's a worthy cause.
00:51And, of course, you worked with powerful women on One Battle After Another.
00:55Your co-stars, who's another woman in Hollywood you'd love to collaborate with next?
00:59Oh, my gosh. I can't even name it. There's so many.
01:02There's two. There are a lot of incredible women in Hollywood.
01:05I don't even want to name one because I walk away from this and then feel like I wish I had named that person.
01:11But I will just say just in front of and behind the camera,
01:15so many incredible thoughts and processes and projects and ideas.
01:22And I love seeing so many voices that I know that are out there to partner with now.
01:28What's one piece of advice you would give your younger self when you first started in Hollywood?
01:32You know, the beginning is fun.
01:36I think in the beginning you're always worried about the next thing and the next thing.
01:40But how can you tell somebody more to stay present?
01:43But, like, the beauty of the present moment.
01:46What has it been like watching Chase have her beginning?
01:48Oh, it's great.
01:50And she's so deserving and as an artist and also just as a person.
01:57So it's so wonderful to watch her grow and become and be.
02:01And she truly is, like, lovely.
02:04You know what I mean?
02:05So I think it's kind of fun.
02:08It's almost like seeing someone see the things you saw for the first time and remember it.
02:13You know what I mean?
02:14I mean, I didn't have, I mean, I wasn't in a PTA film.
02:17So it wasn't a meteoric rise like Chase at all.
02:21But it's still, it's pretty awesome for her to be able to have it.
02:26I know she considers you a mentor.
02:28Who's a woman in Hollywood that you've considered to be a mentor for you?
02:31Oh, my gosh.
02:32There's so many women I looked forward to and who were always so, like, supportive.
02:38Whoopi Goldberg was incredible.
02:40Whoopi Goldberg, Alfre Woodard, I mean, Loretta Devine, I mean, you know, Jennifer Lewis.
02:47So many women who I worked with who would just show kindness.
02:53Angela Bassett, they just, they were phenomenal, they are.
02:57They've always been phenomenal.
02:58They've remained phenomenal.
03:00But they've also been incredibly generous, you know, with their kindness, their advice, their talent.
03:06So all of them, and more, who I'm missing, but for sure.
