00:00Hey everyone, and welcome back to our channel.
00:03Today, we're going to dive into an amazing story from long, long ago.
00:08It's a story about a woman with a big heart, a special promise,
00:12and a little boy who would grow up to be a great hero.
00:15This is the story of Hannah and her son, Samuel.
00:18Our story begins with a woman named Hannah more than anything in the world.
00:23Hannah wanted to be a mom.
00:24She dreamed of holding a little baby in her arms.
00:27But year after year, it just didn't happen.
00:30This made Hannah very, very sad.
00:32To make things even harder, there was another woman named Peninnah who would often tease Hannah.
00:37Because she didn't have any children, Peninnah had lots of kids, and she wasn't very kind about it.
00:44She would say things that made Hannah's heart ache even more.
00:47Can you imagine how that must have felt?
00:49It was like a constant cloud of sadness hanging over Hannah.
00:53Every year, Hannah's family would travel to a special place called Shiloh to worship God.
00:58It was supposed to be a happy time.
01:01But for Hannah, it was always a little bit difficult.
01:04She would see all the other families with their children, laughing and playing.
01:08And it just reminded her of the one thing she wanted most.
01:12Her husband, Elkanah, loved her very much.
01:15He would see her crying and say,
01:17Hannah, why are you weeping?
01:19Why don't you eat?
01:20Am I not more to you than ten sons?
01:22He was trying to comfort her.
01:24But the deep sadness in her heart remained.
01:27One year, during their trip to Shiloh, Hannah felt so overwhelmed with sadness that she did something very brave.
01:34After the family meal, she quietly went to the temple all by herself.
01:39She knelt down and began to pray.
01:42But this wasn't just any prayer.
01:44Hannah poured out her entire heart to God.
01:46She wasn't just saying words.
01:47She was crying and speaking to God from the deepest part of her soul.
01:52She was so desperate and so full of emotion that her shoulders were shaking.
01:57But she wasn't making a sound.
01:59As she was praying, the high priest, a man named Eli, was sitting nearby.
02:04He saw Hannah's lips moving, but he couldn't hear any words.
02:08He watched her for a moment and thought,
02:10What is wrong with this woman?
02:12He mistakenly thought she might have had too much to drink.
02:15He went over to her and said,
02:17How long will you go on like this?
02:19Put away your wine.
02:21But Hannah, with tears still in her eyes, looked up at Eli and said,
02:25Oh no, my lord, I am a woman who is deeply troubled.
02:29I have not been drinking.
02:31I was pouring out my soul to the lord.
02:33Don't think of me as a wicked woman.
02:35I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.
02:38When Eli heard this, he realized he had made a big mistake.
02:42He saw the sincerity and pain in her eyes.
02:45His heart softened, and he said to her,
02:48Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.
02:52Eli's words were like a ray of sunshine for Hannah.
02:55It was as if a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
02:59She felt a sense of peace she hadn't felt in a very long time.
03:03She thanked Eli, and for the first time in ages,
03:06she went back to her family and her food.
03:09And her face was no longer sad.
03:11She put all her trust in God.
03:13But what did Hannah pray for?
03:15It was more than just asking for a baby.
03:17In her heartfelt prayer,
03:18Hannah made a very special and serious promise to God.
03:22She said,
03:23Lord Almighty,
03:24if you will only look on your servant's misery and remember me,
03:28and not forget your servant, but give her a son,
03:31then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life.
03:34Wow, what a promise!
03:36She was saying,
03:38God, if you give me a son,
03:40I will give him right back to you to serve you forever.
03:43This showed just how much she trusted God,
03:45and how dedicated she was.
03:47It was a promise of total gratitude and love.
03:50The family finished their time of worship in Shiloh,
03:53and traveled back home.
03:54And guess what?
03:56God had heard Hannah's prayer.
03:57He remembered her.
03:59Before the year was over,
04:00the most incredible thing happened.
04:02Hannah was going to have a baby.
04:04Her sadness turned into pure, bubbling joy.
04:08When her son was born,
04:09she named him Samuel,
04:10which means God has heard.
04:12Every time she said his name,
04:14it was a reminder that God had listened to her heartfelt plea.
04:18Hannah was the happiest mom in the world.
04:20She cuddled baby Samuel,
04:21sang to him,
04:22and loved him with all her heart.
04:24When it came time for the family to go back to Shiloh
04:27for their yearly worship,
04:29Hannah stayed home.
04:30She told her husband,
04:31after the boy is weaned.
04:33I would take him,
04:34and present him before the Lord,
04:36and he would live there always.
04:38She was getting ready to keep her big promise.
04:41A few years passed,
04:42and Samuel grew from a tiny baby,
04:44into a little boy.
04:46The time had come for Hannah to fulfill her vow.
04:49This must have been so incredibly hard for her.
04:52Imagine loving someone so much,
04:53and then knowing you had to say goodbye.
04:56But Hannah's faith was strong.
04:57She knew this was what she had promised,
05:00and she knew it was the right thing to do.
05:02So,
05:02she packed up their things,
05:04and made the journey to Shiloh one more time.
05:07But this time,
05:08her little boy was walking beside her.
05:10When they arrived,
05:11she went straight to Eli,
05:13the high priest.
05:14Do you remember him?
05:15He was the one who had thought she was drunk.
05:18With Samuel holding her hand,
05:20she said to Eli,
05:21Pardon me,
05:22my lord,
05:23as surely as you live.
05:24I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the Lord.
05:28I prayed for this child,
05:30and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.
05:32So,
05:33now I give him to the Lord.
05:34For his whole life,
05:35he will be given over to the Lord.
05:37Can you imagine Eli's surprise?
05:39He must have remembered that sad woman from years ago.
05:42And now,
05:43here she was,
05:44with a smiling little boy,
05:46fulfilling the incredible promise she had made.
05:49Hannah didn't just drop Samuel off,
05:51and leave crying.
05:52Instead,
05:53she prayed another prayer.
05:55But this one was totally different.
05:56It wasn't a prayer of sadness.
05:58It was a prayer of pure joy and praise.
06:01She thanked God for his power,
06:03for his goodness,
06:04and for turning her sorrow into dancing.
06:06Her prayer showed everyone how thankful she was,
06:09and how big her faith in God was.
06:11So,
06:12little Samuel stayed at the temple,
06:14with Eli,
06:15to learn how to serve God.
06:16Every single year,
06:18Hannah would make him a brand new little robe,
06:20and bring it to him when she and her family came to worship.
06:24It was her special way of showing him how much she loved and missed him,
06:28even from far away.
06:29Seeing her faithfulness,
06:31Eli blessed Hannah and her husband,
06:34praying that God would give them more children.
06:36And God did,
06:37after dedicating her first and only son to the Lord.
06:41God blessed Hannah with five more children,
06:44three more sons,
06:44and to daughters.
06:46Her home,
06:47which was once quiet and sad,
06:49was now filled with the noise and laughter of a big,
06:53happy family.
06:54Hannah's story shows us,
06:55that God not only hears our prayers,
06:58but also blesses us beyond what we can imagine,
07:01when we trust him completely.
07:02But what about Samuel?
07:04He grew up in the temple,
07:06learning from Eli.
07:07He wore his little linen robe,
07:09and helped with the tasks,
07:10round the house of the Lord.
07:12God was with Samuel as he grew up,
07:14and Samuel learned to listen to God's voice.
07:17He became one of the greatest prophets,
07:19and leaders in the history of Israel.
07:21He was the one who would guide the nation,
07:24and anoint its first kings,
07:25Saul and David.
07:27And it all started with his mother's prayer,
07:29a prayer from a broken heart,
07:31filled with faith and a promise.
07:33So,
07:34what can we learn from Hannah's incredible story?
07:37First,
07:37it teaches us about the power of prayer.
07:39When we're sad,
07:41or worried,
07:42or we really,
07:43really want something,
07:44we can talk to God about it.
07:46We can pour at our hearts,
07:47just like Hannah did.
07:49She wasn't afraid to be honest with God about her pain.
07:52Second,
07:53her story shows us the importance of keeping our promises,
07:57especially the ones we make to God.
07:59It must have been the hardest thing for Hannah
08:01to leave Samuel at the temple,
08:03but she did it,
08:04because she had given her word.
08:06Her integrity,
08:07and faithfulness were just as strong as her faith.
08:10And finally,
08:11Hannah's story is a beautiful reminder
08:13that God's timing is perfect.
08:15She waited for a long,
08:17long time,
08:18and she faced a lot of heartache.
08:20But she never gave up hope.
08:22She trusted that God had a plan,
08:24and in the end,
08:25his plan was bigger,
08:26and more wonderful,
08:28than she could have ever dreamed.
08:29Her sadness was turned into joy.
08:32Her emptiness was filled,
08:33and her faithfulness started a legacy
08:36that changed the world.
08:37So,
08:38next time you feel sad,
08:39or you're waiting for something,
08:41remember Hannah.
08:42Remember her courage,
08:43her prayer,
08:44and her unwavering trust in God.
08:46Her story is a shining example
08:48of how faith can turn our biggest challenges
08:51into our greatest blessings.
08:53Thanks so much for watching with me today.
08:56Everyone,
08:56I hope you loved learning about Hannah and Samuel
08:59as much as I did.
