Discover the moving biblical story of Jochebed, the mother of Moses, in Exodus 2:1–10.

During a dangerous time in ancient Egypt, Jochebed courageously protected her baby boy for three months. When she could no longer hide him, she placed him in a carefully prepared basket on the Nile and trusted God with his future.

Her son, Moses, would grow up to become the man God chose to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

This inspiring Bible story reminds us that a mother's love is filled with courage, sacrifice, and faith. Sometimes love means holding on; sometimes it means letting go and trusting God.

00:00What is the greatest love ever shown by a mother in the Bible?
00:04It is found in Exodus chapter 2.
00:07A mother named Jochebed has a baby boy at a time when the king ordered all baby boys to be
00:13killed.
00:13For three months she hides him.
00:16She risks her own life to keep him alive.
00:19But she cannot hide him forever.
00:21So she does the hardest thing any mother could ever do.
00:25She makes a small basket, places her baby inside, and lets him go on the River Nile.
00:31She does not let go because she stopped loving him.
00:34She lets go because she loves him so much she trusts God to save him.
00:39And God does.
00:40That baby becomes Moses, the man who would save a nation.
00:45That is a mother's love.
00:47Sometimes true love means holding on.
00:49And sometimes it means letting go and trusting God with what you love most.
