00:00Let me ask you about a team that you've been a part of forever and you're still on WFAN five to

00:06seven in the morning on Saturday and you are terrific as anybody who's been listening knows

00:11fantastic radio guy and you were certainly there in the middle of it with the heyday with Mike and

00:16the Mad Dog and you and Evan Mike and the Mad Dog is the preeminent sports talk show of all time

00:23but we've had Matt Mad Dog on this show no question times and he's fantastic we had him on

00:28two weeks ago he was great and I think to me he's one of the greatest ever if not the greatest ever

00:34in terms of sports talk radio you and Joe had a fantastic show I was on for many years with you

00:40guys after Mike and the Mad Dog and I loved it what is going on with FAN it feels like they're

00:45breaking apart we saw the Andrew Marshan ex-post writer write about things breaking up what do

00:52you what's your perspective on this what can you tell us about what's going on there they're bringing

00:56carton back apparently according to Marchand and moving uh the breaking apart uh the the show with

01:04Tierney and Licata and I think Licata is probably getting another role but maybe not Tierney I don't

01:08know I mean I I gotta be honest I used to listen a lot I don't listen as much now I'm not in the car

01:15I live in New York so I don't have a car so less radio for me but what's your perspective on the whole

01:20thing well look I mean uh it's never going to be what it once was I mean we you know we could say

01:26whatever we want I mean that was the heyday you know I miss in the morning Mike and the Mad Dog

01:30you know in the afternoon uh you know Steve Summers doing the overnights then me doing the overnights

01:36after that uh you know really that those that's the heyday of WFAN I mean there's no question about

01:42it uh I don't know if you're ever going to see that again uh I've known for a long time that

01:46carton is coming back I know uh Chris Oliveira who runs the show there loves him I mean you knew that

01:51was going to happen at some point um you know I'm I'm saddened because there's a number of you know

01:57guys behind the scenes uh who I know for a long time who are losing their jobs you know which is

02:03kind of sad you know guys who have been there forever you know uh who uh you know you wouldn't

02:08know their names but you know they're they've been let go as well uh you know it is what it is I mean I

02:16you know I don't know what to say you know I I'm only a part-time guy now uh my full-time days are

02:21long over I wouldn't I I couldn't do full-time radio anymore I I couldn't I couldn't commute to

02:26the city every day anymore I just don't have it in me uh but uh you know I'm not shocked I mean

02:32they're going in a different direction uh I don't think it's hardcore obviously it's not hardcore sports

02:37anymore um you know it's it's more of a uh you know guy talk if you want to say type deal so it is

02:45what it is you know I I'm not surprised by it they left the morning show alone the morning show

02:50is doing very well Boomer and G and you know Jerry and and Al and all those guys in the morning

02:55you know so uh Eddie Scazzeri who's been there forever he's going to be leaving soon he's he's

02:59an icon uh he's going to be retiring soon but um yeah I mean I'm I'm not surprised John and I

03:05for a long time I knew this was coming so uh you know I'm not surprised by it at all yeah I mean

03:12they've certainly gone in the way of a guy talk they certainly uh into sports too but it's a lot

03:18of guy talk I'm in I do Chicago radio and it's it's really sports it's sports talk in Chicago

03:24New York they have a different strategy maybe it'll work I don't know but you you certainly know more

03:29about that than I do but I I do miss the heyday with Mike and the mad dog and you and Evan uh fantastic

03:34that you guys were a fantastic fantastic team
