Dominic and Haley shared their insights on collaborating to create a palpable chemistry between their characters on 'The Last Frontier.'

00:01Dominic, any time that you're the bad guy in the film,

00:04I already know it's going to be good.

00:05So I'm in good hands right now.

00:08You do. You want to trust me.

00:11No, he's right. You shouldn't trust you.

00:13You should trust me.

00:14I'm noticing the chemistry between the two of you guys.

00:17It's this intense, I do care, but I really don't care,

00:21but I might care.

00:22Like, how did you guys build this going into the last frontier?

00:27I'm so happy with that reaction.

00:29It's perfect.

00:30That's exactly, exactly what happened.

00:33We were talking about, you know, I don't know,

00:35I think it might be the second episode,

00:37which was our first chance we had working with each other.

00:40And Dominic, his character is, you know,

00:43on the brink of his destruction,

00:46and I hold the key to his destruction.

00:49I remember filming it.

00:51It wasn't written, but I just held the key up and went,

00:54thank you.

00:55And we all know what that's like.

00:57We've all been there.

00:58And that was the beginning of a really fun

01:02and dynamic exploration of these characters.

01:07You very rarely have an opportunity

01:09to see so much of a character's history.

01:12We had all 10 episodes at the beginning.

01:15So we had, rather than making the stuff up,

01:17or talking about what our background was

01:19or how our relationship came from,

01:21it's all there.

01:22And then what has to happen is that we trust each other.

01:25And I was in awe of what Hayley did

01:27in how she challenged the obvious.

01:31She never did anything obvious.

01:32She always did something peculiar,

01:34where most of the people would be going,

01:36what on earth is she doing?

01:38And I would stick, they did.

01:40They did.

01:40And they tried to stop you.

01:41And you stuck with it.

01:43There's a scene where you said, and I love this,

01:45and I hope you don't mind me saying it,

01:46but it really shows your true artistry.

01:49You went, I think I'll be lying on the floor now

01:51doing this scene.

01:52You're a CIA agent.

01:53What do you mean?

01:54People were getting panicky.

01:55They were worried, didn't they?

01:56And she stuck with it.

01:57And it's brilliant because it's odd and peculiar.

02:00And that's because people are odd and peculiar

02:02and unpredictable.

02:03And these guys are weird and flawed.

02:03That's what makes this human.

02:05And I loved it.

02:06And I thought, and that made, I think, gave us,

02:08we were sort of together in our weirdness

02:10in making people, they're an odd couple,

02:13but many couples are odd.

02:15And I loved it.

02:16And I loved it.
