00:00Let's bring in our buddy and talk some Niner football.
00:03Every Tuesday, John Feliciano on the offensive line for the Niners
00:06the last couple of years, joining us here,
00:09River Island's guest line on Withered and Dibs.
00:11And we haven't got to talk to him for a couple of weeks.
00:13So, hey, Feliciano, I like your hoodie, man.
00:15What's going on?
00:16It's been a while.
00:18Yeah.
00:19Attaboy.
00:20What does Thanksgiving look like for an offensive lineman?
00:26You know, I don't want to look at the scale right now.
00:30What did you eat, dude?
00:33What didn't I eat?
00:35Yeah.
00:35Just the classic turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, cornbread, corn souffle.
00:46I mean, the works.
00:49Did you guys host?
00:51Yeah.
00:52How many people?
00:56There's, you know, 12 people in my house right now.
00:59So, it was us.
01:02Yeah.
01:02That's a lot of us.
01:03Yeah.
01:03That sounds like a 27-pound turkey.
01:06We don't need anyone else.
01:07Yeah.
01:07Probably 27-pound turkey with a ham on the side, if I'm not wrong.
01:12There was conversation about ham.
01:15But I'm trying to stay away from it.
01:16But, you know, except sausage.
01:19Sausage and bacon.
01:20Certain parts of the pig are still allowable, but straight-up ham is going to be a no-fly
01:25zone.
01:25I get that.
01:27Yeah.
01:27Like, bro, I'm eating sausage and bacon.
01:30Like, get out of here.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Nothing like some good sliced pink ham, though, to just roll into your Thanksgiving.
01:36Thanksgiving.
01:38I'm Hispanic, buddy.
01:40Yeah.
01:40There you go.
01:41There you go.
01:41All right.
01:42Chorizo to you, too.
01:43Yeah.
01:46Very good.
01:48How'd you feel about...
01:49Sorry, I'm running the show now.
01:51Okay.
01:51How'd you feel about my man Brock?
01:55Did you love the dance?
01:56I think that was his little, like, get back at you for all that Trevor Lawrence nonsense
02:01back in the back day.
02:02I thought it was a cute effort, but if he really wanted to hit it, you got to hit it
02:08harder than just one shimmy and one time around the helmet.
02:11He could have, like, really, he could have really gotten it in, especially after that
02:15play, John, which was such a great read option, and he just, everyone in the world thought
02:20he was going to give it, and he pulls it, and he saunters in, and after that, I thought
02:25he could have hit the Dougie a little harder, John.
02:26That's all.
02:28I kind of, I agree, but I kind of like it, because he's making the people want more.
02:33You give him a little taste.
02:34You give him a little taste, and then he'll bring it, hopefully he brings it back out
02:38in the playoffs.
02:39Where was the offensive line is the question, John, because I think it was Trent Williams
02:43who admitted afterwards this was somewhat choreographed, and they were supposed to all
02:47join him, and they ended up leaving him on an island.
02:52That's messed up.
02:53They set him up.
02:54Brock, see, that's the thing that Brock would do, because Brock would be like, I'll do it
02:57if we all do it, and then I love that by the whole line, make him do it himself.
03:02Knowing the offensive linemen, they probably were heading over for leftovers from the
03:06Thanksgiving turkey.
03:08I would have loved to see McKivitt's try to Dougie.
03:11He might break a knee.
03:13That would have been, that's actually a good call.
03:16It's a good call.
03:17But what did you, what did you think of the overall effort?
03:22Pretty clean game for the 49ers, and now all of the sudden, they find themselves in
03:28the bye, nine and four, and I think you have to put them on the list of contenders, do you
03:33not?
03:35I mean, I've been saying it this whole season.
03:39But yeah, man, super proud of them, you know, going out there in the weather, and what's
03:48Kyle's record against whatever his name is?
03:53Jim Schwartz, yeah.
03:54There we go.
03:56Oh, man, I was super happy for them.
03:58The O-line looked good.
04:00That's a very hard defensive front to go against.
04:02I think they're like top five in defense or some record, some kind of stuff.
04:08But Myles Garrett is, he is such a game changer, bro.
04:13It's like, it's, in one way, it's kind of sad that he's been on the Browns his whole
04:18career, because he could have definitely helped a good team become great.
04:25But, you know, legacy is a thing that some guys like.
04:30Did you ever go against him?
04:31Like, do you have any experiences with Myles?
04:34I've been on the field with him, but thankfully he stayed away from me.
04:38I think he was scared.
04:39Yeah.
04:39Yeah.
04:40That makes sense.
04:41Yeah, because he wouldn't want to, you know, waste that speed by going into, you know, the
04:46B gap or the C gap.
04:47So, you know.
04:48I don't wear deodorant on game days, so I kind of stink sometimes.
04:52He probably kept him away from me.
04:54What did you think about Trent's job against him?
04:56I know that he had a bunch of pressures, but, you know, in the one sack, he kind of got
05:01Trent with that jab step up the field and then just got skinny and got right by him.
05:05Such a move.
05:08It's crazy because you know it's coming, but you just can't stop it.
05:13He is so dynamic, so fast and quick twitch.
05:16And like a basketball player, he switches it up at times where he goes a little slower
05:22and goes faster.
05:24Even with the chip help, I mean, it was an unbelievable play by him.
05:29But I think Trent held his own.
05:32I think he had a good game.
05:34Obviously, that one sack, I know that he's going to beat himself up about.
05:39But, man, that's just best on best.
05:42It's fun to watch.
05:43John, you know what I really would love to hear you speak on?
05:46Like, since we've spoken to you, Jawan Jennings has had two interesting games.
05:51He gets punched in the you-know-whats in one game, and then there's kind of a post-game
05:57melee about that.
05:59And then I was really surprised to hear the Browns players, after the game, seem so emotional
06:07about whatever it was that Jawan said to Malik Collins.
06:13And the reason I, like, I have no idea what he said, and if it was offensive, it was offensive.
06:17But I just have this perception that whatever's going on in the trenches is so next level.
06:23You guys are so, it's so emotional.
06:27You're, you know, whatever.
06:28Underneath a fumble pile, you guys are grabbing everything.
06:31Like, it's so crazy in there for them to come out and be so offended by words.
06:37I was really surprised.
06:38I've never seen that before.
06:40What's your take on all this?
06:41Yeah, tell me about it, dude.
06:42Like, God, a couple words and people lose their mind, you know?
06:46I have no prior experience with that.
06:50But, man, see, I don't know, man.
06:56I love Jawan.
06:56Jawan's my guy.
06:57I mean, I love watching him play, and I love what he does on the field.
07:02I don't know him to say outrageously crazy stuff.
07:07I know him to talk crap.
07:11But some of the things they were alleging he was saying, I don't buy it.
07:17But I heard one thing, and then, you know, Shelby Harris, a former teammate.
07:23I love Shelby.
07:24Shelby was a great dude.
07:28One of my all-time favorite teammates.
07:31We were together in Oakland back in the day.
07:35But I saw him on, I think, Chris Harris' podcast.
07:39He was saying that the timing of the crap talking about Jawan was what set people off.
07:46I guess someone was getting carted off or whatever.
07:50But, like, what does that have to do with what he's saying to someone else?
07:56I mean, I don't know.
07:58I think they're being a little emotional.
08:00I get that.
08:01But isn't time and a place a big part of it where, you know, you got guys taking a knee
08:05and somebody's really badly hurt, you go over and you dap them up.
08:08Is there a time where maybe you as a player should shut down the trash talk?
08:13Depends how hard they're going at each other.
08:15I can see it.
08:17I do agree when someone's down is probably not the time.
08:23But I don't know what was being said the whole game.
08:25And if they were going back and forth when it happened, it's just, you know,
08:30things get heated on that field.
08:31And you can only talk crap so far.
08:34I mean, it's just a field.
08:35If someone's down 15 yards away from me, it's another world.
08:38I just was so surprised because, again, without really rendering an opinion on its appropriateness,
08:44I've never seen football players after a game be so upset about what something that someone said to them.
08:52I think it's a new age thing.
08:55I think these, I don't know.
08:58When I came into the league, it was a lot different than how the league is now.
09:02It's got a very soft and some people, you know, usually things get dead on the field
09:09and some people can't handle it.
09:11John Feliciano with us on Willard and Dibs.
09:13Hey, we put together a few questions that we wanted to throw at you, but there are rules, John.
09:20There's going to be some rules.
09:22All right?
09:22You have to be definitive.
09:25Like, you can't give multiple answers.
09:27You have to be definitive with these answers and give one answer and one answer only.
09:32Is that fair?
09:34Yeah, let me sit up.
09:35All right, yeah.
09:36Yeah, sit up straight.
09:37Okay?
09:37Are you ready for this?
09:39Yeah, take a sip.
09:39What are you drinking?
09:40Liquid death, doctor death.
09:45Doctor death, liquid death.
09:47Okay, double death.
09:48That's great.
09:49Yeah, a real pick-me-up, real positive beverage there, John.
09:55Merry Christmas.
09:56That's what we all feel like after that meal.
09:58Let me get them questions.
09:59All right, here we go.
10:01Who's been the best niner this year?
10:04Ooh, McCaffrey, Christian.
10:06That's a good answer.
10:07Yeah.
10:07Glad you gave his first name, too.
10:09I wasn't sure.
10:11Yeah, I don't know if you know who he is.
10:12He's the super small white guy.
10:15Yeah, he's the little guy who gets two yards a carry.
10:17Yeah, that sounds about right.
10:18Three and a half.
10:20Thank God he can catch.
10:21Yeah, seriously.
10:23Someone should open a hole for him every now and again.
10:26But anyway, all right, which NFC team would you not want to see in the playoffs if you were in the Niners?
10:32That's a hard one.
10:42It's probably going to happen, but I think the Rams.
10:44Yeah, that's fair.
10:47I mean, outside of the egg they laid last week, and they still look to be the class of the conference.
10:54Outside of Trent Williams, John, so you can't say Trent Williams, who has been the Niners' best offensive lineman this year?
11:02Mm-hmm.
11:05It's a stumper.
11:06McKivitts.
11:07Ooh, McKivitts.
11:08Okay.
11:09McKivitts.
11:09Yeah.
11:10All right.
11:10Mm-hmm.
11:11Okay.
11:11He's played really well at times.
11:14He had a little decline, but I think he's working his way back up.
11:18I think he started the season really, really hot.
11:22What would you say is Kyle Shanahan's best trait?
11:34Are you struggling to find a trait?
11:37There's just so many.
11:38Are you working through all of the different possibilities?
11:42Yeah, exactly.
11:43I was going to say a workaholic.
11:46He just constantly is just his mind.
11:50Sometimes you see him in the hall, and he doesn't even know that he walked by somebody.
11:53He's just so just like in his own world trying to just scheme up something, or he's just always going, dude.
12:00So, man, I love Kyle, man.
12:02It was great to be around someone like that.
12:07All right.
12:08Then we put this one together.
12:10Yeah.
12:10If you got to host, and I know there's a lot of people at your house, but you get to host again for Christmas,
12:16and one 49er teammate that you played with the last couple of years could come over to your house for Christmas,
12:24who would you invite?
12:25But only one.
12:25My dog, George.
12:32Him and Claire are going to come over.
12:34Yeah.
12:35That's it.
12:35That's my guy, dude.
12:37Seems like a likable character, that George Kittle guy.
12:40We went to WrestleMania together in April.
12:43It was a great time.
12:45He seems like a lot of fun.
12:47You guys just do like the beer chugging.
12:50Who's the better beer chugger, you or the aforementioned George Kittle?
12:54Oh, George would stump me.
12:56Oh.
12:57You know, he's a Midwestern guy.
13:00I didn't really start drinking until I got to the league, really.
13:03Then the stress and, you know.
13:06Where'd you go to WrestleMania with him?
13:11It was Vegas.
13:12And how many guys were there?
13:15You know, he runs with a few guys.
13:18Yeah.
13:19When we went there, I think it was like us, there was four of us.
13:24Okay.
13:25And all probably like, yeah, bigger guys, right?
13:28Do you find that when you're in a group like that, even if they don't recognize you,
13:33do you find that people come up and try you, like they want to get a piece of a group of big guys?
13:40No, it's funny, especially like at WrestleMania when I'm around Kittle.
13:45Like, I'm just like a big brother.
13:48I'm just like making sure no one's messing with him.
13:50Because I'm like, buddy.
13:52I know he'll bail me out if I need it.
13:55He'll cover all the lawyer chargers and stuff.
13:58Nice.
13:59There was a lot of people.
14:00He had like one security guard, and I was like, bro, what if three people come?
14:04I was just watching, looking for them.
14:06They're big old stars now.
14:09It's crazy.
14:10I was doing some Christmas shopping online just yesterday, and you know how they have those little things,
14:15the little buttons that pop up that are like the automatic coupon checkers to see if you can get like a discount code on whatever you're buying?
14:23And what came up was Claire Kittle.
14:26And I saved like 15 bucks on whatever I was buying my daughter because I put in the code Claire Kittle.
14:35I was like, yeah, go ahead.
14:38George is so marketable.
14:39He's such a personable guy, outgoing.
14:43And him and Kyle, I mean, they've done a great job with – I mean, their wives are super talented in their own right,
14:50but like being able to give their wives the platform, and they really ran off with it.
14:57It's awesome to see.
14:59No doubt about it.
15:00Hey, man, always fun to talk to you, and we get to do it again next week.
15:03We'll see.
15:05We'll see what you guys –
15:06Yeah, we'll see.
15:07There's a warrior game.
15:07We'll see.
15:08Yeah, no.
15:08That's right.
15:09You guys try to get rid of me just like the Niners.
15:12No.
15:12Sometimes you got to get bumped, you know?
15:14Oh, over here.
15:15Sometimes you get bumped.
15:17That's the way that goes, huh?
15:18Tell everybody how it started.
15:19You had to go party in Vegas so you couldn't talk to us.
15:23No.
15:25It wasn't my fault.
15:26It was the airlines.
15:28There was a delay.
15:30And then, yeah.
15:30Yeah.
15:31Well, we can agree on that.
15:32Hey, we're one and one.
15:33We're one and one.
15:35We're even.
15:35We're even.
15:36All right, buddy.
15:37We'll talk to you soon.
15:38All right, guys.
15:39All right, there he goes.
15:40That's Mongo Feliciano.
