00:13I mean, how could you not?
00:22According to one of the film's editors, Chris Levenzon, that scene was scripted as a real game.
00:27They kept score and everything, and Tony shot it like a commercial, and they were angry.
00:32Fellow editor Billy Weber added,
00:34The studio was so pissed off.
00:35The head of production, Charlie McGuire, he said,
00:38I'm going to fire him, because he spent a whole day shooting this scene.
00:50Weber went on to say,
00:52And then of course, it turns out it's one of the most famous scenes in a movie.
00:55A similar scene that appears in the new sequel, Top Gun Maverick,
00:59and features the film's stars playing football shirtless on the beach,
01:02has enamored social media,
01:03leaving the internet, for lack of a better word,
01:05thirsting over actors like Miles Teller.
