00:00Now, we have a great highlight for Art Deco Philippine Exhibit
00:06on the theme of Art Deco Modernity and Design.
00:09Let's all watch this!
00:12The Filipino is a very special expression of art, architecture, and other things
00:21before the colonization.
00:23At it is a very unique and unique style of design
00:55na matatagpuan sa National Museum of Fine Art.
01:05Art Deco was a contemporary style that also embraced traditional forms.
01:11And that's why if you look at Metropolitan Theater in Manila,
01:14it's Art Deco but it has a lot of local elements.
01:17May manga, may labong,
01:20because they incorporated local touches,
01:23which is why it's very interesting
01:26because Art Deco was an international style.
01:30So you go to another country,
01:32you'll find Art Deco,
01:33but maybe slightly different than what you have
01:35because it was based on the local culture.
01:38We had so much influences from all over
01:42that it was easy for us to take from all these different influences
01:46and absorb it and make it our own.
01:50So I think kaya na-embrace ng general populace
01:54mga styles tulad ng Art Deco
01:56because marami tayong first-hand pieces and information that would come through.
02:26ng design and architecture sa Philippines,
02:29especially of an Art Deco period na malakas tayo
02:38from architecture to fashion to interiors
02:48of our way of life, how we lived in yung time na yun,
02:51kung paano natin in-embrace,
02:52although it totally in-embrace yung design movement
02:55in-introduced from abroad,
02:57but then applicable sa atin and nag-evolve siya.
