Cameroon fires coach as new hire omits Onana, Aboubakar ahead of AFCON

00:00Between being eliminated from the 2026 World Cup qualifying and opening the Africa Cup of Nations in three weeks, Cameroon fired his coach and hired a replacement.
00:10The new coach, David Pagu, immediately dropped captain Vincent Abubakar and goalkeeper Andre Onana from his squad announcing late Monday for the AFCON that opens on December 21 in Morocco.
00:21Pagu replaced Mark Brice, the veteran Belgian coach whose appointment last year deemed to be the sports ministry's choice against the wishes of the Soccer Federation, led by Cameroon great Samuel Eto'o.
00:33The federation published a list of grievances against Brice on Monday, including claims of insubordination.
00:39Cameroon's squad includes Man United forward Brian Belmo and is preparing to start his group on December 24 against Gabon.
00:46The defending champion Ivory Coast and Mozambique are also in the group.
