00:00Emmy, I got this.
00:03Hey, Dad.
00:04Welcome home, sweetie.
00:06This must be Matt.
00:08Oh, cop car.
00:09It's like I'm a perp, you know, and you're just...
00:11Dennis, you've done so many movies over the years and dramatic series.
00:15What made you want to do this sitcom?
00:17I'd never done a sitcom before.
00:19It was my very first one.
00:20Before this, I had zero.
00:22Goose egg.
00:23They were just put together so well.
00:25And the cast, I was the weakest member of the cast because it's a different animal.
00:31You've got to get up to speed with these things.
00:32And when you say the first punchline, all you hear is silence.
00:39It's deafening.
00:41And so you've got to get up to speed and be on your toes.
00:45Like when I heard Dennis Quaid was in the show, I was just like, oh my gosh.
00:48Like I would love to play his daughter.
00:50I've been wanting to play his daughter since Parent Trap.
00:52So, you know.
00:53And I always wanted a twin.
00:54And Bridget's pretty close to it.
00:56So...
00:56Hey!
00:58It all worked out.
00:59Any requests?
01:00Do you know the song Not Now by You?
01:02Your character in this show is a very strict dad.
01:06But in The Parent Trap, you famously play a chill, super cool dad.
01:09A chill out.
01:11Yes.
01:12With a glass of wine in my hand.
01:13Yes.
01:14The Napa dad.
01:16Which dad would you say you're more like in real life?
01:18More like the Napa dad.
01:20The chill, cool dad?
01:21Yeah.
01:22I would guess so.
01:23But I have my moments where I'm very much Don Quinn when things get overwhelming.
01:29I've got to be careful about who I let into this family.
01:32I just need to prove that I'm good enough.
01:34On the show, you guys give each other a hard time and it sounds like behind the scenes it
01:37was the same way.
01:38Yeah.
01:38Yes.
01:39Yeah, we have a lot of fun.
01:41We didn't plan the dress the same, by the way.
01:43This just kind of happens.
01:44Yeah.
01:45The black and the leather.
01:46It's a good classic look.
01:47The freshman trying to follow the senior quarterback.
01:49And I'm just like the little newsy behind him going, good one boss.
01:53Like that's how I feel right now.
01:54You took my style correspondence course.
01:55I have to.
01:56Are you kidding me?
01:57You watched and learned, you know, from the best.
02:00Oh, yeah.
02:01And from a distance.
02:02He doesn't know about that.
02:03Because you've been on sitcoms before.
02:04Bridget and you were on Undateable together.
02:06Yeah.
02:07What was it like working together again on this show?
02:09It was kind of easy to just get back into it.
02:10Because it's hard, too, when you're trying to build a chemistry with somebody that you
02:14don't know, it's hard enough.
02:15And then with her, we've already built that in.
02:18And she's just so easy to work with.
02:19She makes me seem a lot better.
02:21And it's not hard to pretend to be in love with her.
02:22So I was in his reel for the show.
02:25And then they called me to ask about him in the show.
02:27So we kind of both also like helped each other to get the roles.
02:32And so once we got there, you know, we're just like, hey, good job.
02:35The queens are a G-rated cult.
02:37We have a sort of support group.
02:39Support group for what?
02:40The people who married into this family.
02:42You both, of course, got your start on Disney Channel back in the day.
02:44But kind of at different times as you were sort of leaving.
02:47Yeah.
02:47I graduated.
02:49Yes.
02:50Literally.
02:51Entering freshman year.
02:52You actually graduated High School Musical.
02:54Yes, I actually did graduate.
02:56Now, for you, Sharpay has kind of been having this moment on Twitter lately.
03:00Yeah.
03:00Where she's kind of made a resurgence.
03:02We've seen you retweeting the tweets.
03:03How does it feel that after all these years, Sharpay is finally getting the credit she deserves?
03:07You know, she's an icon.
03:08So, I mean, I think that it's just so, it's a weird, it's kind of crazy and it's so strange.
03:16But I do think that, you know, she would love it.
03:19And, you know, I do kind of like when I'm retweeting people, I become Sharpay and I'm just like, yes.
03:24But it's also, I think, a testament to how I played that character that she is still kind of living throughout.
03:31And it's actually even moving away from High School Musical.
03:34It was like Sharpay was just trending.
03:36So, I was like, yes, girl.
03:37I was like, you did it.
03:39So, you know, I'm really proud of her.
03:42It's my favorite day and I wanted to spend it with my loved ones and Matt.
03:47Now, this show, I'm sure a lot of people are going to be binge watching this holiday season.
03:52So, if you're going to have a holiday movie marathon, what three holiday movies have to be on the list?
03:57Elf.
03:58Oh, yeah.
03:58I'd definitely love that.
04:00Yeah.
04:00I would do Christmas Vacation.
04:03And It's a Wonderful Wife.
04:04Ooh, Grinch.
04:05Love Grinch.
04:06Yes.
04:06Elf.
04:07Elf.
04:07Home Alone.
04:08Yeah.
04:09I mean, all three of those.
04:10I mean, I have to watch all of the Home Alone.
04:12Yeah, yeah.
04:12And Miracle on 34th Street.
04:14Love Actually.
04:15Love Actually.
04:16So, we got a whole long playlist for you.
04:18Yeah.
04:18Yeah.
04:18It'll take 24 hours to watch all of them.
