00:00Congratulations, you're being honored with the THR Trailblazer Award here today.
00:05What does receiving this honor mean to you?
00:07Well, honestly, it's an honor for STARS, and I'm honored to accept it on behalf of STARS.
00:14It means everything.
00:16So much of what we do through Take the Lead is just about underrepresented voices and women
00:23and just making sure that we get to tell our stories.
00:26So this is just what we do on a daily basis in front of, behind the camera, in the writer's room.
00:33It's what we do because it's the right thing to do, and we think our stories are better as a result of it.
00:39But we don't expect people to give us awards, so that's just icing on the cake.
00:43But if it's shining a light on what needs to be done and how we need to be better at storytelling
00:49and need to tell everyone's stories, we're thrilled.
00:53This event is all about equity, inclusion, diversity and accessibility in Hollywood.
00:59Can you talk a little bit more about how embracing those principles makes the content coming out of Hollywood just better?
01:05Well, if you can see it, you can be it.
01:09And so if you live in this world, no matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like,
01:15you want to see yourself represented.
01:17And so if we can give that platform and make those shows, honestly, we feel like we're making the world a better place.
01:25And it's just, it's so important, and it's what makes working at STAR so wonderful.
01:30What's your message to other executives when it comes to why they should be championing diversity?
01:35Well, it's the right thing to do.
01:38It's the artistic thing to do.
01:40You are going to have better programming, more inclusion is just better for everyone.
01:46So it just, to me, to us, it's kind of a no-brainer.
01:50And that's just been STAR's, and that's how we do it.
01:53And we're really grateful for being able to do it.
