00:00The nominations for the 71st Annual Tony Awards are finally here.
00:04The big announcement came Tuesday morning, courtesy of Jane Krakowski and Christopher Jackson.
00:08And let's just say that if your name is Natasha, Pierre, Dolly, or Evan, you're feeling pretty good right about now.
00:14Indeed, the hit musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 leads the field with 12 nominations,
00:20followed by the Bette Midler starring revival of Hello, Dolly, with 10, and Dear Evan Hansen with 9.
00:27Meanwhile, A Doll's House Part 2 stands out in the play categories, nabbing 8 nominations, followed by Oslo with 7.
00:34First-time nominees this year include Danny DeVito in Arthur Miller's The Price,
00:38who's up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.
00:42Corey Hawkins of Six Degrees of Separation scored a nod for Best Actor in a Play.
00:46Ben Platt of Dear Evan Hansen was cited for Best Actor in a Musical.
00:50And Josh Groban of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 is also up for Best Actor in a Musical.
00:57That's how I think he would sing it.
00:58And of course, like with all award show nominations, the Tonys brought their share of snubs this year.
01:04Big names like Allison Janney in Six Degrees of Separation and Mark Ruffalo in The Price both failed to score a nomination.
01:11A handful of musicals, including the revival of Sunset Boulevard starring Glenn Close,
01:15and adaptations of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Amelie, and A Bronx Tale were all completely shut out this year.
