00:06happy to be home this is just too weird so madison now that the show is out what has the

00:13fan response been like for you so far it's been great so wonderful i mean hearing people's stories

00:18about how they related to julie is so amazing and just also how it's been so you know important to

00:26them that they've been able to see this um new you know representation um whether it was in me or

00:32or you know jada as well they love love the music but then there's also this story about how they

00:37might have lost a parent or a sibling or a loved one and that blows me absolutely away and and then

00:45they talk about dancing and you see these videos of these kids like in front of their tvs like

00:50literally did and that's exactly what i can tell you all of us used to do to like have some musical

00:55mama mia i gotta say it brings so much joy to my heart give it up for julie and the fans

01:03why have you been keeping those cute boys a secret they're ghosts when we play together people can see

01:09them kenny fans on social media have been praising alex and willie's relationship in this show

01:15why do you think it's so important to have lgbtq plus representation in a teen series like this

01:20it's time you know i had no role models i had no one out there for me you know growing up i had no

01:28one that that said to me you know it's okay you know i for for so many years of my life i was alone

01:34and and the response from young lgbtq plus kids that are watching the show and the impact that it's

01:41having on them is so positive and wonderful that fills my heart i think it's huge just to be able

01:46to normalize something like this for a young generation and he's always kind of been proud

01:51alex has always been proud of who he is and and his friends have always supported him and i think

01:55that's so cool that you know that they can watch it and and just see it as as a normal everyday thing

02:00it's special it's so important because that's the world we live in today and it should be depicted the

02:08way it is in real life to you know on screen like there's no there's no reason why it shouldn't be

02:12like that the fact that we're just in the show casually and it's there it's like the most

02:17beautiful thing so i'm very happy that um we're representing it in that way i can't do this without

02:22you everyone can see the way you look at her when you sing you are the most watchable duetters i've

02:28ever seen you guys got to write some of the music on the show right uh a little bit yeah charlie and

02:36maddie uh wrote a perfect harmony and i'm sure charlie can uh i can elaborate on that but even

02:42uh even as far as like this band is back which is the little kind of beach jam that uh that me and

02:48the boys do in the second episode and they let us kind of just riff on it one day and kind of mess

02:53around with it and then we had a little brief idea and they brought some writers in and uh and they

02:57had us do it i think literally the the vocal track uh on the thing is like one take from the three of

03:02us just in the booth and that's why it sounds so just kind of like uh so spontaneous which was so

03:07fun that's what uh blows me away with kenny because he um he always encouraged like you know

03:13uh bringing ideas to the table and and being creative and and and just us wanting to grow as

03:19our characters and us wanting to grow as as a band and then finally being able to write something

03:25like perfect harmony and then pitching it to the show with madison and all the time that was put

03:30into it and then netflix approving and getting into the show like it's still like blown away

03:35blown away we both know how it feels to lose our moms we were brought together for a reason

03:40to help each other what are you waiting for this is your time madison what's one thing you would

03:48love to see happen in season two there's so many amazing characters that you know you know deserve

03:53you know more screen time and um being able to learn more about them and just fall in love with

03:57them more is it what is always exciting especially with the role with the cast like this when all

04:03the characters are just so loved um each and individually you know i think it would be really

04:07funny and i think it would be really interesting if maybe alex finds someone else and then he runs it no

04:15you gotta finish and then i like run into boo boo or i run into willie and then i have to explain

04:23this new love no i don't know i would love drama um good guy for drama and i would love to see uh

04:30willie and alex's uh maybe their relationship you know go a little further maybe a couple more

04:34adventures and uh maybe he can uh help us out maybe he can be on the good side this time honestly i

04:40want to see i want to see a willie and alex duet i think it's important and you touched on it at the

04:47beginning but it just to have uh to have a gay couple on this scene on this series that is not

04:54mired in like shame and you know oh are they gonna get are their other families gonna accept them and

05:01all of that is it's just these two cute boys that like each other period i think we need a song and i

05:09think queer kids everywhere need that moment i need that moment i'm 45 i just think uh it's a really

05:17it's a big it's a big thing you can't understate like how how this relationship is portrayed that

05:22um this is a big step we haven't even begun to tap the level of talent that exists within this

05:28ensemble of players i mean it's it's extraordinary and and and dan and dave our writers are well aware

05:35of it and and so i'm really excited you know about unleashing you know more of what we what we have

05:42in this family of players it's really exciting
