Brook Shields tells THR that she's attending the 2025 SAG Awards purely as a supporter, because as the elected President of Actors Equity Association, she feels that it's important that actors have a sense of community and support throughout the industry. She also tells us about her opinions of A.I. and how actors should handle it.

00:00Why was it important for you to be here tonight at the SAG Awards?

00:04A, I've been a member of SAG for many decades, and as the president of Equity,

00:10it's really important that we represent and we show up for each other.

00:14I mean, what we fight for and what we all fight for our members is, it is a community,

00:21and we work really hard at it, so that's why.

00:24And it's actors, supporting actors, it's really what the nature of this industry is sort of built on.

00:32The hot-button topic in the actor community has been AI.

00:36What's your take on it, and are you in favor of it to enhance a performance or a project?

00:41I mean, listen, I was in the camp of being afraid of it, because I was afraid that it would eliminate us somehow.

00:47I think if we learn to mine it properly and use it to our benefit,

00:52we're not going to be able to deny it, so if you can't beat it,

00:57why not figure out how it can enhance what you do and how it can be a part?

01:01You have to fight to protect yourself, but by the same token, it's going to happen.

01:05So I believe in sort of leaning into it and figuring out how I can make it work for me.

01:11Now, the Oscars are only a week away. Who are you rooting for for Best Picture?

01:15Oh, that's a hard one. This is like the hardest year, because it's all so different, you know what I mean?

01:22And I just, and I don't know how it's, I'm not, I will be home and I will be watching it probably by myself,

01:28which is what I like to do if I'm not, if I don't have to do anything for it.

01:32I like to like be in my pajamas with my dog.

01:34But I just hope that, I hope people feel celebrated for the right reasons.

01:41I think that's, you know, I'm not, I'm not picking favorites.

01:44And what do you have coming up that you're really excited about?

01:48I just did a part on a Ryan Murphy project.

01:54I just, I've got a show that I'm probably going to be starting in September.

01:59And I just did a beautiful musical presentation of a new musical.

02:05And it's like indie rock music.

02:07And it's a really, it's like a very edgy, smart story.

02:10So we're hoping that we get a theater for that.
