00:09more political late-night monologues. In a new interview with New York Magazine, the

00:13Jimmy Kimmel Live host explains that he never wanted to come on too strong politically

00:17or preach to the choir, yet his political outbursts are inevitable. Kimmel said,

00:30He revealed that Trump's shocking election makes him question everything. And almost a year later,

00:42he's still worried about the future of the country.

00:53While Kimmel and CBS's Stephen Colbert have both gone after Trump and seen their ratings improve,

00:58the ABC host defends Jimmy Fallon, who has been criticized for taking a lighter approach to

01:03politics on NBC's The Tonight Show.

01:19And while the ABC host says he may have alienated some viewers with his political approach,

01:24he maintains,

01:28Another controversial topic Kimmel isn't afraid to tackle is the unfolding Harvey Weinstein scandal,

01:33in which more than 60 women have alleged that the Hollywood mogul sexually assaulted or harassed them.

01:38Kimmel is hopeful that power dynamics will be altered in Hollywood in the wake of these claims.

01:43I definitely think it will make the guys who do this kind of thing think twice.

01:47But it's silly to point at Hollywood specifically. Hollywood's not so different than any other business.

01:52Kimmel is already confirmed to host next year's Academy Awards, and says he will likely address the Weinstein scandal.

01:58But we'll be careful due to the sensitive nature of the topic.

02:01It's not really a laughing matter. There'll be a lot of people in that room who maybe have been through experiences with him.

02:07And that's not something I want them to relive on the night they get their Oscar.
