00:00Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are saying off Wiedersehen to Project Runway.
00:04The Emmy-winning duo spent 16 seasons and 14 years together on the fashion competition
00:10series but will not be returning for the Bravo revival. The duo is instead reteaming
00:16for an untitled global fashion competition series under retail and streaming giant
00:21Amazon. However, details about the new reality series are being kept under wraps for now.
00:26Klum announced her exit in a statement saying,
00:29After 16 incredible seasons, I am saying Auf Wiedersehen to Project Runway,
00:34a show that I was honored to host and help create.
00:36I am incredibly proud of the show and it will always have a special place in my heart.
00:41I am so appreciative of the dedicated fans and most of all, I am grateful that we could shine
00:46a light on creativity and help launch so many talented designers' careers.
00:51Gunn echoed Klum's words saying,
00:53I am grateful to Project Runway for putting me on a path I never in my wildest dreams
00:57thought my career would take me. I am so proud to have been a part of the groundbreaking process
01:02that showcased talented young designers as never before. Project Runway started its run on
01:08Bravo in 2004. The show moved from the network to Lifetime where it ran for 11 additional seasons.
01:15In 2016, Lifetime renewed the show for three additional seasons in a pact with
01:20the Weinstein Company. However, after the sexual abuse allegations made against Harvey Weinstein,
01:25the company declared bankruptcy and the contract was voided with only season 16 airing.
01:31Bravo recently revived the series under Lantern Entertainment for a 17th season, but has yet to
01:36reveal its hosts or judges. Landing Gunn and Klum should be seen as a big score for Amazon Studios,
01:42as it looks to push their unscripted division to compete with the likes of Netflix in the reality space.
01:47The streaming service has breakout hits with the Queer Eye reboot, as well as true crime
01:52docu-series including Making a Murderer, among others. Amazon's new head of Unscripted,
01:58Jennifer Salky, seems thrilled to have the iconic duo on board, saying,
02:02Heidi Klum completely changed the television landscape by developing a competitive reality
02:07fashion series that was unproven and different from what was popular on air. The show became wildly
02:14successful and, in turn, Klum and Tim Gunn have become an iconic pop culture duo. For more on this
02:20story, head to THR.com. And until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Neha Joy.
