00:00I mean, how are we feeling right now?
00:01I keep telling people, I'm like, I feel like I need to do a bit of a mea culpa for Ugly Sonic
00:05because, one, I feel bad that we call him that,
00:08and two, it's like definition of trust the process because look where we are now.
00:11I know. It was out of the ashes of Ugly Sonic that this beautiful trilogy of films,
00:16this phoenix, had to rise.
00:18So, you know, it was a necessary sacrifice.
00:21But, yes, thank you, Ugly Sonic, for the memories.
00:25I loved him in the Chippendale movie.
00:28Yes.
00:28No, it was a great joke.
00:30We all thought it was hilarious and very clever, and, yeah, all good.
00:34Well, now here we are, and obviously, you know, the first film, we have an amazing cast.
00:38The second one comes around, and you're like, let's get Idris Elba.
00:40He says yes.
00:41Third film, Keanu Reeves, says yes.
00:44Ah, it's just my disbelief just continues to grow with every movie.
00:47I mean, our little Sonic family continues to grow.
00:50We keep bringing in all these incredible talents to come in and tell these stories with us,
00:55and it's just, yeah, it's literally, it's surreal.
00:58Because I remember that first movie, it feels like it was yesterday.
01:01Now to be here, this iconic, you know, Chinese theater is just, it's incredible.
01:06It does feel like yesterday.
01:08It does.
01:09But I've got a few more gray hairs to prove that it was not yesterday.
01:12But loving it, having fun every minute of the way.
01:15Obviously, you know, they each have their own, Team Sonic, they each have their own unique personalities.
01:20Now we have Shadow coming in here.
01:22What are, like, three words you would use to describe what Shadow is like?
01:26Oh, mysterious and complex and also emotional.
01:32I think his story was one of the things that we were so excited about.
01:35This third film, it's a backstory that's so beloved by fans.
01:39He's been around for 20 years.
01:40We knew we had to do it justice and give fans a really great movie version.
01:44Lila Brown, who's somewhere on the carpet here, who we cast as Maria.
01:48Just an incredible talent for her to come in and be, you know, such a young actor
01:54and to be able to deliver a performance.
01:55Because, again, Shadow is not a real character.
01:58She's filming with tennis balls and puppets.
02:00And she just gave us an amazing performance.
02:03Yeah, and obviously, I mean, I'm sure you're aware of the Maddie color theory.
02:07Yes.
02:09I will not, I would love to take credit and say that we've had this all mapped out from the start.
02:15But I will, you know, I'll leave it to fans to speculate whether or not that was all truly planned.
02:23I think go with it.
02:24I thought you were like the Taylor Swift of Sega Genesis.
02:26You know, we try our best to lay out the roadmap, a few films to come, and the rest of the time
02:31we're just hanging on for dear life and having a great time.
02:34What do you see as the future of Sonic?
02:37I mean, we always are excited to tease new characters.
02:40Sonic's been around for 30 years.
02:42There's so many great characters to sort of pull into this movie world.
02:45The ones that we choose, it's always because we feel like there's a really great story
02:49and then they might take our movie universe in exciting and interesting new directions.
02:53So, yeah, I think the possibilities are endless and right now just going to enjoy movie three
02:59tonight and then we'll wake up and we'll maybe see where to go from here.
