00:00I think it's really cool to have this like little UFO that you tweak on stage
00:04Once you put these guys on, it's a fucking game-changer
00:08It's like a lot of you guys know changing my world so I can't live
00:30Ciau a tutti, hi everybody, this is Milo from Fear Factory
00:42So I want to show you guys my rig that I use on stage for vocals
00:46As some of you probably know by now, I'm a huge effect guy
00:51And I like to bring all the classic effects used on vocals in studio live
00:56And tweak them myself because I think it adds to the performance
00:59So this is a Chord Chaos pad, it's a really cool effect
01:03It was born as a DJ effect, as you might know
01:07But I've been using this with my other band in Rome Dad channel live
01:12And I think it's great to reproduce some of the classic effects
01:15That a lot of bands use on studio but they don't really bring them live
01:18And Fear Factory also has these effects
01:20So of course, high-pass filters
01:23You know, a lot of you guys know
01:25Changing my world so I can't live
01:28You know, that kind of stuff
01:29And I like to reproduce it with the Chaos pad
01:34It just select your effect
01:35And you know, you have to know where you have to press with your finger
01:40Like I know the H-pass filter has a sweet spot right here for me
01:44It also has other filters
01:47Uh, low-pass pitch shifter, you know, band pass
01:52Uh, has additional delays that I use for screams
01:55Uh, not for clean vocals, we will go to clean vocals in a little bit
01:59Uh, it has distortion and flanger
02:03So I'm using distortion because on D-manufacture
02:06There are a couple of vocal parts like Newbreed
02:09When it goes, wait, ah, the newbreed
02:11You know, it has some distortion on vocals
02:13Uh, I'm reproducing that too
02:16Flanger, I used flanger on the first part of D-manufacture
02:19It has a nice looper function
02:22So it goes like, you know, you can loop your voice
02:25And just make it go fast
02:26And I'm also using a little part of Newbreed to give you a little twist
02:30So, uh, it's really cool
02:33A lot of people have been asking, you know, what's that thing you use?
02:35And I think it's really cool to have this, like, little UFO that you tweak on stage, you know
02:40And it adds up to the performance
02:42So, of course, when you move your gear around
02:46The knobs are gonna be messed up, you know
02:48They're gonna be, like, uh, touching with other gear, you know
02:52And the, so we wanna make sure that the volume stays like this
02:55So, this is the input volume
02:57So, we don't really wanna change it
02:59Uh, this is, uh, in the other hand, this is the effects depth
03:03So, this is gonna change constantly
03:05Sometimes, if I put the distortion on, I don't wanna put it all the way
03:09It's gonna saturate too much, it's gonna feed back
03:11But, like, for instance, if I'm using flanger or H-pass filter
03:15I'm gonna put effects depth all the way
03:17So, this is gonna be, like, tweaked through the set
03:20But the input volume, you want it to stay, uh, like, fixed
03:23So, that's why we taped it
03:25And, uh, so, yeah
03:26So, the thing is, I'm using this Beta 58A wireless mic
03:32I always like the Beta 58
03:34My mom is a singer, she always used it as well
03:36You know, it has a lot of clarity
03:38Uh, and this is, of course, the wireless version
03:40So, what we do is, we get a loom from the wireless unit
03:45And it goes all the way to this little box that gives us some, uh, uh, you know, some
03:52It has a splitter from ground lift and it gives some, a little more clarity in the, in the signal
03:57Um, and, uh, it makes it cleaner
04:00And so, this goes into the ChaosPad with the, with the XLR cable
04:08That goes all the way in here in the input
04:10And then the output, because this is a DJ tool
04:13So, it has, like, RCA, uh, connections
04:16So, the output goes straight into the pedal
04:19Which is the next topic
04:21This is a beautiful TC Helicon voice I've played
04:24And, uh, so, this is different from the other TC Helicons
04:28Because, uh, it has some stuff for the guitar
04:30I don't really use it for the guitar, of course
04:32But, uh, just because this is the only TC Helicon
04:36Amongst the, the, the small ones, of course
04:38That has the midi
04:39And this is a game changer
04:40Because, um, at first, my first tour, the first bunch of tour of Fear Factor
04:46Which is the blue one
04:47It didn't have midi
04:48So, I had to, uh, press with my own foot
04:51The delay on and off, you know
04:53Every time I had some clean parts
04:55And, you know, to, because I, I always love the delays
04:58And reverb and chorus on, on the clean parts of Fear Factor
05:02So, I wanted to recreate that sound
05:04But, I had to, uh, to, um, a stomp with my own foot
05:08And, uh, sometimes, you know, we walk a lot on stage
05:11And I do crazy shits
05:12Sometimes I had to run back, you know
05:14And activate a delay
05:15So, I, I got this one because with the midi, uh, this is now automated
05:23Both presets and on and off switch are both automated by the Logic Pro, um, project
05:30So, with the backing tracks
05:32So, uh, and, uh, so when it has to be turned on, it will turn on, you know
05:36With, and on specific parts, uh, so, and this again is used mostly for delays, uh, reverbs and choruses
05:44Um, and it gives that depth of your, typical Fear Factory choruses
05:50And as you can see, I have, uh, one or more presets for each song
05:55Body Hammer, you know, Dog Day Sunrise, Gun Greaves, Scapegoal, you know
05:59All the songs that we've played so far
06:01Martyr
06:02And, uh, that's because each song has its own BPM
06:06Of course, we play with backing tracks
06:07So, I want my delays to be synced to the BPM of the song
06:10So, that's why I have one preset for each song
06:13And, uh, yeah, this is pretty much it for the vocal effects
06:16So, in-ears, uh, of course, we have, uh, our marvelous, uh, ultimate ears
06:24This is, uh, custom-made with a name on it
06:28I chose this logo because I liked it
06:30But, uh, they're really, really good
06:32It's, uh, I think it's A drivers
06:34They're really, the definition is real
06:37You know, if, if you, I've been using, like, normal
06:40Single or double driver in-ears, you know
06:42They were fine, but once you put these guys on
06:46It's a fucking game-changer
06:47It's like, what the hell, you know
06:49It's, it's, it's really like a game-changer
06:52So, uh, it's an investment, but it's, uh, well worth, and it's worth it
06:56So, uh, I definitely recommend it
06:58And our, uh, last but not least
07:00Our, um, uh, wireless in-ear system
07:03Is a Shure ADTQ
07:07This is, of course, the, the receiver
07:10So, it's a ADXR
07:13And it's super clean, uh, it's a recent upgrade
07:16We just, uh, did, and, uh, really happy with it
07:19You know, it's, uh, it's a game-changer for sure
07:22So, we're currently on tour in the US
07:25Both headlining shows and some shows with the Mighty Cavalera
07:28And, uh, also, we're gonna play a couple festivals here and there
07:32So, please, uh, come out to the shows, uh, you won't be disappointed
07:36We're gonna give you the best Fear Factory experience ever
07:40And, uh, for, uh, any infos about merch, about tours, about anything
07:46Go to fearfactory.com and, uh, also stay tuned for the new album
07:50Which is gonna come up somewhere next year
07:53So, stay tuned
