14:43they're just running down here you can tell by his voice yep not going to snap it and that's something
14:48you've studied quite extensively throughout your life i've studied it very extensively you watch their
14:54mannerisms when they come up to the line of scrimmage and then you listen to his voice
14:57you could tell there that daniel jones was much more loud and demonstrative with his cadence than
15:02he normally is which tells you just settle in nothing's going to happen yet they still get us
15:08sometimes have you thought about maybe a side gig as a voice coach i have heard many in my day as a
15:14defensive lineman uh i'm trying to think of the best i've ever andrew luck in this building was a
15:19great one yeah he had a great count a good hard count many many great battles against him
15:24i've jumped off sides a few times it's it's a point of frustration yeah we actually have the
15:30stack seven times no we don't no i'm making that it's embarrassing everybody looks at you they all
15:34point at you ha ha we got you and they got you and they say your number to the crowd and to the tv
15:41audience we hit the two minute warning here so the colts

17:13late the houston defense started out extremely strong obviously that cj stroud interception hurt and
17:19put the colts back in a position after getting a fourth down stop but lately that colts offense
17:24has come to life we'll see if that continues and obviously after halftime we'll see what adjustments
17:29these coaching coaching staffs made daniel jones everybody heard about the fractured fibula coming
17:36into this game i've not seen him move outside the pocket stroud back after missing three games with a
17:42concussion and he fires that one to schultz who catches it and takes it to the 31.
17:49the clock is ticking a minute 37 to go in this first half that covers 11 yards coming up verizon

18:09tomiko ryan's talked to him this week he said felt like everybody has gotten into the routine
18:14they know what's at stake they know what they're fighting for they're six and five two games behind

18:27running the clock there he didn't quite get out of bounds it looked like he might have but
18:32the clock runs and houston's just let a whole lot of clock go on these last two plays almost content
18:39with where they're at right now even though they still have two timeouts left franklin and ward
18:44combined on the hit stroud gets rid of it catch made and a first down for nico collins
18:51without a 38 seconds left and a timeout call i'm not houston because their second time
18:56i'm 100 sure what the plan was early on there they didn't really rush up to the line of scrimmage after
19:02the first successful play they didn't call a timeout they they seemed almost okay with whatever happens
19:09on this drive as opposed to going out there and saying we're going to go put some points on the
19:13board generally if that first play is successful then that kicks you into two minute mode it didn't
19:20seem to do that for them houston will get the ball to start the second half what's the identity right
19:25now for nick caley's offense and what the texans are trying to do i asked cj stroud that exact question
19:31because he talked about that bird's eye view he said we want to be a hard nose run the ball team who
19:36dominates the line of scrimmage dominates play action pass and then let our guys outside eat
19:42in those one-on-one situations they have 178 yards of offense in this first half
19:48they can get some more right here looking for a deep shot stroud uncorks it it's too high
19:54nico collins with two defenders back there including makai blackman and bynum blackman in for the
20:02injured sauce gardener this is just a one-on-one jump ball where cj puts it up and hopes this guy nico
20:09can make a play and he wasn't able to do so he was up there and did have the aerial advantage
20:16just not able to come down with it stroud 12 of 19 145 yards and the one int
20:2531 seconds on the clock target line is the 41 of indy stroud going through his progressions
20:34and he tosses it out of bounds did not absorb the sack
20:39there was tight end dalton schultz in the area so if you're looking for
20:48an intentional grounding you will see dalton schultz ends up right out here which is where cj stroud
20:54throws the ball over his head tui maloow had a shot at him and now it's third down and 10 at the 45.
21:03but again i and i go back to they have kaimi fairbair who's a very good kicker in this league
21:09they certainly could have moved this ball further down the field and saved a little more time
21:13still can but it put themselves a little more in a tough spot rushes on and it's a downfield hit to
21:20higgins but he's short of the line to gain brought down by kenny moore the second we're down to 14 seconds
21:27left houston is not using its timeout it's fourth down and two
21:37are they just going to have kaimi kick a long field goal here
21:4330 seconds they take the final timeout with two seconds on the clock

22:01so they're looking at a 65-yard attempt

22:12i'm just the colts calling a timeout here i'm just not sure what the plan was here
22:18timeout by the colts 30 seconds you go into this two minute drive with two of your timeouts and plenty
22:24of time on the clock yes i know you get the ball back after the half but so many people talk about the
22:29middle eight the last four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second half
22:34if you're able to put points up going into half and get some points coming out of half it is demoralizing
22:40for the other team you can see kaimi has a 61-yard field goal this would be a 65-yarder but
22:46i just more have questions about the entire drive leading up to this and what the plan was going into this drive
22:52so the colts go into hail mary mode
23:01it was a hail mary that landed cj stroud with the texans
23:05stroud steps up
23:08and stroud is going to chuck it downfield it is knocked down and that is the end of the first half
23:15so they sent alec pierce out there to help out defensively and it worked
23:24yeah he's got great ball skills he knows what it's like but this ball didn't even reach the
23:28end zone he's on the run being pressured
23:33let's go downstairs to evan well coach in this style of game what was the approach in that final
23:37offensive possession knowing points for the premium right now yeah we wanted to you know get there
23:41didn't get there just wanted to take a shot at the end zone we come back out the second half we get the ball
23:45thanks to me all right thank you all right evan there you have it that was the mentality they
23:50have the ball to start the second half they weren't going to push it at the end of the first half
23:54and here we are 10-6 texans at the break halftime is next after these first half highlights from
23:59verizon and a word from your local station getting ready for second half action the texans 10 the colt
24:06six quarterback comparison in that first half back from the concussion cj stroud 153 yards and a pick
24:14daniel jones dealing with a reported fractured fibula does have a touchdown for indian eagle jj wad evan
24:21washburn down on the sidelines really important game within the afc south and the afc playoff picture
24:26houston goes conservative at the end of that first half indianapolis just feels like they're having a
24:32tough time unleashing this number one off yeah they've had little pockets here and there where they found
24:36that passing game but they really haven't looked completely like the colts offense we've been used to
24:41seeing all year in houston obviously the cj stroud interception and then like you said at the end of
24:46that first half i feel like that's something we may look back on at the end of this game if it gets tight
24:52now the texans do lean on that number one defense and it's working so far
25:00texans with the football to start this second half no on the return and he's dropped
25:07out near the 26 yard line evan washburn moment to go with indy head man shane steikin
25:16coach outside of avoiding them all together how can you improve on third and fourth down here in the
25:20second half yeah we got to be efficient there to keep the ball moving that's the biggest thing for
25:23us right now we haven't converted one of those so we got to be efficient doing that in the second half
25:26where's this houston defense testing you most um they do a good job with their front they're good on the
25:31back end and we got to go execute better shane thanks all right thanks all right thank you evan
25:36indianapolis had a season low 255 yards of offense last week only 10 first downs today 151 yards
25:44at seven first downs marks who is dealing with an ankle injury has held for no game jermaine pratt
25:52makes that stop for indy so the overall numbers in that first half there's nothing that is really
25:58going to pop off the page houston had the long drive to open up and the texans five penalties
26:07indy yet to convert on a third down 0 of 5. everybody's struggling on third down texans 105 indy oh and
26:13five never want to get in those third and long situations got to give yourself a chance
26:18stroud he hits his man underneath nearly turned it into a first down as
26:31dalton schultz shook loose for nine it's going to be third down and one
26:38and manageable third downs literally just talked about it and here they put themselves in a third and one
26:43which is much more manageable than where they have been today so far on third down
26:49texans are trying to win their third straight division title for the first time in franchise history
26:57and they needed a yard they pick up two and at the bottom of that pile
27:04cage stover kate stover's going to take it and then when you have two fullbacks on your roster use them both
27:10jacob johnson and british brooks pushing him there
27:15first down have talked about it all year how difficult that tush push is to stop
27:20the one major advantage being that the offense knows the snap count the defense doesn't colt tried
27:25it earlier but they had an errant snap or at least the ball pop free same situation here with stroud as
27:34he does hand it off to nick chubb but they pick up only a yard on the play you said it errant snap right
27:40right there he just left and the ball didn't leave with him he had to double clutch and
27:46for cj stroud luckily the ball got caught up on his center's calf and he was able to double clutch and
27:53still get the play off but could have been disaster there for the houston texans and now
27:57sitting in second and long you had jermaine pratt and kenny moore the second ready chubb now 21 yards
28:03rushing and a touchdown shotgun on second and nine
28:06step and throw for stroud another one underneath to schultz and the catching curl takes him to the 45
28:18short of a first down zayer franklin with a tackle four and a half yard pickup
28:21just finding a little soft spot in the zone turning around setting up and cj stroud finding him colts
28:28defense rallying to the ball and these fans trying to get involved and have an impact
28:36culture finally back home remember they had a home game but it was in germany
28:40where they beat atlanta they are 5-0 here inside lucas oil stadium this season
28:46third down and four stroud double clutch he'll throw it for a first down
28:57schultz goes downstairs to get it that's going to move the chains for houston
29:02nine yard pass play there was some confusion early for cj stroud he looked out here to the left didn't
29:09see it watch zayer franklin drop out good design by luanna rumo taking away some of those targets
29:16but then even better play by cj stroud to buy himself some time clear out of the pocket and
29:22deliver a ball to dalton schultz and they're now in colts territory so just wanted to make sure the
29:27officials knew it was a first down give it to woody marks and he plows across the 40-yard line
29:36good blocking up front for an eight-yard pickup for the houston texans
29:40some really nice double teams inside there ursery and howard andrews and ingram as we said at the
29:48beginning of the game this offensive line the same one that started last game but has not been the
29:54story all year long the texans have started four different left guards four different right guards
29:59and four different right tackles so for cj stroud for domiko ryans for this offense that continuity is
30:06something they long for and they're hoping they found it in this group second down and two they'll
30:10go back to back to marks this time he runs into his offensive line and met in the hole
30:21by ebukam and franklin ebukam is gonna meet stover in the hole and just blow this entire play up
30:29he knocks him back into woody marks and then makes the tackle himself
30:34as a defensive player that's something that you replay in the film room the next day
30:39just physical violent football taking their blocker into the lap of their running back
30:45they are two of two on third down on this drive this is a third and three
30:51look at everybody in the line of scrimmage again expect some to drop out and try and create confusion
30:56they get the playoff stroud hooks a pass downfield and he makes the connection at the 25 yard line
31:04it's hutchinson with a grab and another houston first down
31:08we talked about people dropping out and both zaire franklin and jermaine pratt drop out you just
31:17wonder if jermaine pratt might have been responsible for dropping a little bit deeper there because
31:22there's a huge hole in that zone coverage that cj stroud's able to take advantage of
31:32nine minutes to go on the third houston on the move at the 25 yard line nick jump back in there bootleg
31:38stroud on the move and he hooks up with his receiver stover for another houston first down
31:47good flow now for houston zaire franklin in coverage
31:52lotu stays home and puts the pressure on stroud but he's able to outrun him
31:57and put the ball out in front of cade stover which keeps it out of the reach of zaire franklin
32:02and texans offense starting to find a little rhythm here cj stroud knocking some of that rest off
32:10stover back in the lineup he was on ir with a foot injury stroud is starting to heat up over 200
32:17yards through the air it's again to chubb and chubb has wrestled down the line of scrimmage for no game
32:24you saw that graphic cj stroud five for five on this drive really starting to feel it
32:29and get a little hot which is what the texans offense is hoping for like you said earlier in
32:36the game i and both domiko ryan's and cj stroud talked about having to knock some of that rust off
32:42coming back off almost a month not playing in a game he said a big key was just taking the mental reps
32:49and visualizing what he would do on certain plays said his coach in college ryan day was always on him
32:56about that stroud has the time pucks one to the end zone and too far he had two receivers in the area
33:04including dalton schultz and it's going to be third down and ten for houston great coverage all around
33:11here by the indianapolis colts there's just nowhere to go with the ball for cj stroud he had time in the
33:16pocket he was looking around but everybody is locked up very sticky coverage on the back end from the
33:22indianapolis colts the texans are three for three on third down on this drive and they face another
33:29one here down in the red zone the ball is just short of the 14-yard line it's a third down and long for houston
33:39stroud in trouble and he's sacked dumped back at the 28-yard line
33:52at abare gets to the quarterback fourth down you're going to see a te stunt on the left side which means
34:00the tackle is going to penetrate first and the end is going to wrap around and it works beautifully
34:05because the tackle is able to split the double team and cj stroud tries to escape the pocket right
34:11into him good execution there by the colts forcing stroud to step into a sack and they
34:17make this a longer field goal fairbaird made one from 23 this is from 43 yards away
34:23fairbaird trying to add to the lead and he's got it 13-6 houston used up a whole bunch of clock
34:36to open up the second half texans with three on the board have got the lead on the road
34:42back here at lucas oil stadium open back in 2008 home of the colts now 18 years
34:58fairbaird will kick it off after the 43-yard field goal gould is the return man along with akdula

35:11could not get away sheets of special teamers anderson and hunter this combination has been lethal yeah
35:19we're going to take a look here the colts are 0 for 5 on third down and a big part of it is obviously
35:25that houston pass rush will anderson daniel hunter right here will anderson just lined up over the center
35:31they get a 5-0 look which means it's one-on-one with all five of the offensive linemen and if you
35:36give him a running start that is just a dangerous ask for your center to be blocking will anderson one-on-one
35:42down the middle just one sack right now for houston they had eight against buffalo last week
35:48colts they've been waiting the offense 38 minutes in real time their last offensive snap
35:54handoff to taylor he's bottled up
35:55texans all over it choo choo gets in there for houston
36:03send it down to evan and that play was a great example of the swarm that really defines this houston
36:09defense and it's a style and mentality that domiko ryan's brought to this team really from san
36:14francisco but it goes guys all the way back to high school in bessemer alabama when he was a zero star
36:19recruit and his coach willie ford said hey you want a scholarship then you have to be in every frame of
36:23tape swarmed to every play every ball and he's brought it here to the nfl and his guys yeah he
36:28sure has focusing on hustle and that ball was up for grabs hit him in the intended target bullock was
36:38in there and then al shire had a shot at it incomplete kalem bullock has been playing really
36:45well for this texans defense he had two interceptions and one forced fumble versus the bills last week
36:51here he's gonna break on this ball daniel hunter gets in the face of daniel jones so he's not able
36:56to step into the throw and bullock looking for another interception a ball hawk back there as matt
37:03burke looks on texans have posted three straight wins over indianapolis all decided by four points or
37:11right now a seven point game six minutes to go in the third jones steps up jones downfield over the
