00:00If I'm still bejeweled, when I walk in the room, I can still make the whole place shimmer.
00:05Taylor Swift just set a Ticketmaster record.
00:08The Bejeweled singer sold the most tickets any artist has in one day ever earlier this week during the pre-sale for her Eras tour.
00:15But with the crazy high demand came some technical issues and now the CEO of Live Nation is commenting on them.
00:21While speaking at the Liberty Media Investor Day Thursday, Michael Rapinoe, the CEO of Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster,
00:28said the company saw more than 3.5 million people try to register as verified fans, all to buy tickets to the pop star's upcoming U.S. tour.
00:36Those that received codes to buy tickets then overwhelmed the site on Tuesday, causing a few hours of, quote,
00:42slowdowns as the company worked to stabilize the system.
00:45Rapinoe said,
00:46We invited a million and a half on that day to come and buy those tickets.
00:50But it's kind of like having a party.
00:52Everybody crashed that door at the same time with 3.5 billion requests.
00:56The executive added,
00:57We sold 2 million tickets, the most we've ever sold in one day in history, and another million tickets of other artists on that same day.
01:05So although we regret it was a slowdown in some cues and some error codes for a short period for some fans, we did manage to recover.
01:11Still, the long waits for buying tickets and error messages on the site sparked backlash among many of Swift's fans,
01:17who took to social media to decry the ticket-buying process.
01:20Ticketmaster tweeted on Thursday that the sale of tickets to the general public Friday had been canceled due to, quote,
01:26extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand.
