00:00A Labyrinth sequel is finally heading our way. Fede Alvarez, the filmmaker behind last year's
00:14sleeper hit Don't Breathe, is tackling the follow-up to the 1986 Jim Henson movie that
00:19starred David Bowie. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Alvarez will write the script
00:23with Jay Basu and direct the project, which is set up at TriStar. The two are currently
00:28developing Girl in the Spider's Web, the sequel to Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and plan to tackle
00:32the Labyrinth project after that. Lisa Henson of the Jim Henson Company will produce. The original
00:38Labyrinth tells the story of a teenager, played by Jennifer Connelly in one of her first roles.
00:42She has to navigate a fantastical maze in order to save her young brother, who has been kidnapped
00:47by a goblin king, played by Bowie. Did I mention it's a musical?
00:51Everything I've done, I've done for you.
00:56Labyrinth was the last film directed by Henson. It was executive produced by George Lucas and
01:01written by Monty Python member Terry Jones. Insiders say the new project is not a remake
01:06nor a reboot, but rather a continuation of the story set in the rich Henson universe.
01:10However, the goblin king will not be represented in the new film. How do you feel that they're
01:15finally making a Labyrinth sequel? Sound off in the comments. I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood
01:19Reporter News.
