'Nobody Wants This' star Justin Lupe chats with THR at the 2025 Emmys red carpet and reveals it's her first Emmys and season 2 of the hit Netflix show.

00:03I do.

00:05Christine, you've done such good work for so long,

00:07but this show has really captured something about,

00:11I don't know if it was just an escape or if it's just such a good story.

00:13How do you describe what the magic is of Nobody Wanted?

00:18It's so much fun. It's such good people.

00:21I feel like from top to bottom, it's just a great crew.

00:23It's a great cast. It's a great team behind it.

00:26And I think the subject matter is just so cozy and happy,

00:32and we're all just starving for some levity.

00:34I was just so excited to put my brain in this space and play such a fun character.

00:40This season, it gets even more fun for me.

00:43So, yeah, it's been really great.

00:44You mean the second season?

00:45Yeah.

00:46Wait, so tell me. You're filming now.

00:48We just finished. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:50We finished in May, so it's about to come out on October 23rd.

00:55Yeah.

00:56We're cruising. No, you're good.

00:58I don't blame you, man.

01:02I don't even know how you do it.

01:04Yeah.

01:04Well, we're doing the best we can.

01:06So, I don't want to get you in any trouble,

01:08but what can you tease since there are fun stuff to come?

01:12Okay, so we have incredible guests.

01:15We have Arian Moyad, who was on Succession with me and came over this season.

01:20We have Leighton Meester, Adam's wife.

01:21It's going to be really, really fun.

01:24It's going to be pretty far out.

01:26I'm just so excited, yeah.

01:27And that romance is still going to be there, so.

01:29You know, another reason to love the show,

01:31which is we have to sort of talk about it,

01:32is just that it shoots here.

01:35I know.

01:35I feel so attached to our crew.

01:39I love them so much.

01:40It's a really, because I've become friends with them

01:43and talking to them about how hard it is in between seasons

01:46and how slow and how, you know, they don't have much going on

01:49because there's not that much shooting in L.A.

01:51That's okay for an actor to go through,

01:53but for a crew to survive off of one job a year,

01:57I'm just so happy to be shooting here,

02:00and I really hope more production comes back to L.A.

02:04because, you know, people move out here to do this.

02:07So, yeah, I feel really, really proud of our crew.

02:11I don't want to say the word veteran to say, like,

02:13oh, you're a veteran of award shows at this point,

02:15but you've been around with a couple good shows here at these Emmys.

02:18So now at this point, is there a strategy for, like,

02:21unwinding at the end of the night, or is there a curfew?

02:23Do you have work tomorrow?

02:24What's the vibe today?

02:26Okay, so this is my very first Emmys.

02:27I've never been.

02:29I never came.

02:31Well, because Succession came here a lot,

02:33but I just never came.

02:35So this is my very first, and I am kind of new to it.

02:39I don't know what it's going to be like,

02:40but I have a baby.

02:41I have a one-year-old,

02:41so I don't think it's going to be, like,

02:43a raging kind of situation.

02:45It will probably be, like,

02:46I drag my husband out of the house after this.

02:49We go to, like, have one drink with the Netflix folks

02:52and then go to bed.

02:54Do you see how my brain is melted?

02:55I just assume you were here for all those years.

02:57Succession just cleaned up.

02:59I like that you think that I was here.

03:01I think it's good that you think that I've been invited every time.

03:05I just associate you with winners.

03:06That's what I do.

03:07Big award-winning show.

03:08That's what I want.

03:09It honestly doesn't even matter if I was here or not,

03:11as long as you think I was.

03:13Okay, and then one more fun question,

03:15not that we haven't already been having fun up until now,

03:18but tonight there's a lot of really great shows.

03:21I mean, this was such a good year for television.

03:23What were you a fan of, or who were you a fan of?

03:25Or you can tell me this.

03:26Who's the last person you texted to be like,

03:27wow, I loved you in that.

03:29What a great performance.

03:30I mean, I feel like I'm constantly shooting off texts.

03:33I think Megan Fahey's incredible in Sirens.

03:35I love the studio.

03:38I, you know, I, like, have connected with some of those writers

03:40and just told them what a treat that show is to watch.

03:43It's so singular and fun.

03:46And I wish I could find Sharon Horgan to tell her

03:50that I'm obsessed with Bad Sisters.

03:51I think it's absolutely fantastic.
