00:00So what did you think when you first read the script?
00:03I thought, I can't believe I'm reading a Damien Chazelle script that I can audition for and potentially get to be in.
00:10It was wild, but I gotta say, even as big of a fan as I am of Damien,
00:15even if I did not get this role in the audition, I was so grateful that I got to read a script that is going to be made into a movie
00:21and start to picture what I think that is going to look like.
00:24And it far exceeds what I pictured in my mind.
00:27And a lot of crazy things happened in this movie.
00:30Yes, that's an understatement for sure.
00:32What was the craziest day on set for you?
00:34I think for me, probably when we filmed the blockhouse scene at the end of the movie with Tobey Maguire and Diego Cava,
00:40who I'm sure you'll talk to soon enough.
00:43Yeah, filming all that, the insanity of going through the different floors of the blockhouse was wildly surreal.
00:50What was it like sharing the screen with Tobey?
00:53Very cool. Very, very cool.
00:55And to work with him, to see how he works, to see how he becomes his character, it's intimidating.
01:02You know, you're stepping in, you want to make sure if someone passes you the ball, you don't throw it right out of bounds.
01:06So I was on my toes trying to make sure I was present and in it, and ultimately educational.
01:12He has a crazy look in this movie too, so that must have taken some getting used to.
01:16It did take some getting used to, because the creepiness vibe was at a 10 for sure.
01:20Yeah.
01:21And what did you think when you saw this movie for the first time?
01:24It was big, as big as I thought and hoped it would be, but truly just beautiful.
01:29I thought it was cinematic beauty.
01:31I think the scope of it is incredible.
01:33I think the sound and the picture being shot on film.
01:36Linus, who was just walking around here, I think did an incredible job of painting a movie.
01:43It's beautiful.
01:44And how is it to kind of explore this era in Hollywood?
01:47Because we don't really see this side of the 1920s very often.
01:50Right.
01:51And you also don't really hear the story of the trauma of the industry switching from silent
01:57to sound.
01:58You just think it's a technological breakthrough and it's going to be all smiles and great.
02:01But as the film shows you, it was pretty wildly traumatic for a lot of actors and actresses
02:06to figure out their role or their place.
02:10And also their place kind of disappearing, you know?
02:13Yeah.
02:14Congrats.
02:15Thank you so much.
02:16Oh my god.
02:18I appreciate it.
