00:00Seth Meyers and his wife, Alexi Ash, are truly a power duo.
00:04And honestly, their journey feels straight out of a rom-com.
00:07And you married a beautiful woman, and you fell madly in love with it.
00:10I did.
00:11I did a very good job.
00:12Yeah.
00:13She's a real cat.
00:14Seth and Alexi first met at the wedding of Seth's friend and former SNL castmate Chris
00:19Catan.
00:20And here's the twist.
00:21Alexi wasn't some random guest.
00:24Her sister Ariel was actually interning in the SNL set design department at the time,
00:28so she already knew the groom.
00:29Basically, the universe was working overtime to put these two in the same room.
00:33I was a guy who was looking for love.
00:36And according to Seth, the connection was instant.
00:39He once joked on the Strike Force 5 podcast that by day two, people were already asking
00:44how long they'd been a couple.
00:45That's the level of flirty we were the second day we knew each other, Meyers said.
00:50Seth admitted that he knew pretty early on that Alexi was the person he could see himself
00:55with, but then he laughed that it took him five years to actually propose.
00:59The only mistake I made with my wife is that I made her wait five years before I married
01:04her.
01:05That is too long for a woman of her caliber.
01:07I made a mistake.
01:08I also appreciate right now that if you're watching this with a woman you have dated for
01:12five or more years, I have ruined your night.
01:15Well, better late than never.
01:18And in his case, definitely worth the wait.
01:21Now, the proposal story, pure Seth Meyers.
01:25He decided to tie the engagement ring to their Italian greyhound Frisbee, which sounds adorable
01:31until you realize he spent the entire time panicking that the dog would actually swallow
01:35the ring.
01:36So there he sat, staring at Frisbee like a security guard on high alert.
01:40Luckily, the ring stayed exactly where it was supposed to, and Alexi said yes.
01:45Seth even confessed, he cried, a little bit, which, let's be honest, means a lot.
01:51Fast forward to September 1st, 2013.
01:54The couple got married on Martha's Vineyard in a picture-perfect ceremony surrounded by
01:58friends like Amy Poehler, Kristen Wieg, Olivia Munn, and more.
02:03Brad Paisley performed, Alexi wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown.
02:08The whole thing sounded dreamy, except for one tiny detail.
02:12Alexi had food poisoning the morning of the wedding.
02:15She actually spent part of the day in the hospital because of one very bad oyster at the
02:20rehearsal dinner.
02:21My wife turned into, like, the star of an action movie who's been, like, knocked down,
02:26and you think he's done, and then someone says, that villain says one last thing, and
02:29she, like, propped herself up on her elbows, and she's like, I am getting married today.
02:36And still, she powered through.
02:38Seth later joked that if anyone had an excuse to back out, it was her.
02:41But she showed up anyway, looking stunning.
02:44He even called it a perfect example of who she is — strong, resilient, and somehow still
02:49glowing through the chaos.
02:51After the wedding came the babies, and their birth stories could each have their own sitcom
02:55episode.
02:56So, anyways, we almost have our first kid in an Uber.
03:03And despite that, our second baby was born in the lobby of our apartment building.
03:08Alexi and Seth's first son, Ash Olson, arrived early, forcing them to take an Uber to the hospital
03:14right after brunch.
03:15We had to roll the window down because she was getting car sick, and she was just screaming
03:21out an open window.
03:22Screaming.
03:24And only in New York City could you drive that way and not have people say, that woman's
03:30being abducted.
03:31That is, they're in his abduction taking place right now.
03:36Then came Axel, who didn't even wait for the hospital.
03:39He was born right in the lobby of their building.
03:42Seth described calling 911 and, within a minute, going from, we're about to have a baby, to,
03:48we had a baby.
03:49We went downstairs into our lobby, and we started walking out to the car, and all of a sudden
03:54at the door, my wife stopped and turned to me and said, the baby is here.
04:00Their third child, Adelaide Ruth, was a planned home birth, and thankfully the smoothest one
04:05yet.
04:06Adelaide was born at a perfect time at 10 o'clock at night, Myers explained.
04:11So she got to sleep in bed with us the very first night, and the boys gotta wake up.
04:15It was like Christmas morning, except it was a baby girl instead of some plastic toy they'd
04:20get bored of in an hour.
04:22It was great.
04:23Can you calm the baby down when you, when the baby's crying?
04:26I feel like a little bit.
04:27Okay.
04:28Are you a nurturer by nature?
04:29I think I am a nurturer by nature.
04:31Really?
04:32Yeah.
04:33People sometimes forget, Alexi isn't just Seth's wife.
04:36She's a total powerhouse on her own.
04:39She graduated from Occidental College, earned her law degree, and built a career fighting
04:43for victims of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and human trafficking.
04:48She was a district attorney.
04:50And I imagine her taking charge of your life.
04:53Oh, she does that, yes.
04:56She's worked with the Brooklyn DA's office, joined the board of Human Rights First, and
04:59continues her work with Sanctuary for Families.
05:02Her colleagues describe her as fierce, talented, and deeply committed.
05:07And Seth has said more than once that the world she deals with daily is far darker than
05:12his comedy-filled universe.
05:14Yet she still finds a way to come home with warmth and optimism, pushing him to do the same.
05:19And Seth's story actually has a lovely parallel, another late-night host and comedian who shares
05:24life with an equally remarkable partner, Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNerney.
05:30She's not only his spouse, but also a driving force behind Jimmy Kimmel Live as its executive
05:36producer and co-head writer.
05:39Molly's fingerprints are all over the show, and she's produced some of Hollywood's biggest
05:42nights, from the Emmys to the Oscars, including the 95th Academy Awards Jimmy hosted in March
05:482023.
05:49Jimmy will do a 10-minute monologue, and then we're going to present Best Actress with five
05:55former winners in the category.
05:56Don't say any of their names, because then we will have…
05:59I'm going to say their names.
06:00No.
06:01So, how did these two end up together?
06:04It didn't start with romance.
06:06Back in 2010, Molly began working for Jimmy.
06:09She was his assistant after already having been in the industry.
06:13And there was an awkward first impression.
06:16Molly once shared that when they first met, Jimmy barely glanced up when Molly was introduced.
06:21But as soon as someone mentioned she competed in triathlons, he threw out a,
06:26That is really stupid.
06:28What a waste of time.
06:30Ouch.
06:31Neither of them were single at first.
06:32They were strictly friends, colleagues.
06:34But as time went on, something changed.
06:36They hung out more.
06:37The writers' room after the show became a place for connection.
06:40And then, this is almost cheesy, but Jimmy started cooking for Molly.
06:46That, apparently, sealed the deal.
06:48Well, the first date was at his house, you know, coming over for dinner.
06:51But the first time we went out, we went actually up to Napa Valley, and we did like a weekend
06:57wine tasting, which was really nice.
06:59After a few years together, Jimmy proposed during a trip to South Africa's Kruger National Park,
07:04surrounded by wildlife and an unforgettable romantic backdrop.
07:09They got married in July 2013 in Ojai, California.
07:13The couple's wedding guests included famous friends like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Emily Blunt, Jennifer Aniston.
07:20Instead of gifts, they asked guests to donate to charity, which seems very them.
07:24Then off they went to honeymoon in Portofino, Italy.
07:27Molly's always tried to balance her roles—wife, mom, co-worker—especially in that writer's room where she was, at one point, the only female writer.
07:37She worried what dating her boss might do to the team dynamic.
07:40Would jokes stop?
07:41Would things get weird?
07:43But over time, it seems they found a rhythm where work and home life coexist, sometimes messy, sometimes beautiful.
07:51Yeah, since we started dating and working at the same place, I really like to keep it separate.
07:55And it really is.
07:56Like, my work life and my home life, even though they involve the same human, feel very, very different.
08:02They have two children together, a daughter named Jane and a son, William Billy John.
08:08The kids are obviously central to their lives.
08:11Every time you cook with the kids, read to the kids, fish for the kids, hug the kids, hug inside, hug outside, or walk upstairs with the kids.
08:21I took all of these!
08:22I'm exhausted!
08:23Their son, Billy, faced serious health challenges, born with a congenital heart condition requiring three surgeries.
08:32That experience, Molly has said, has been both terrifying and transformational.
08:37They did an echocardiogram, which is a sonogram of the heart, and found that Billy was born with a heart disease.
08:50Something called Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia.
08:54Molly shared how in the days following surgery, she was back at home, breastfeeding, watching Jimmy tell their story on TV, and how she couldn't stop crying.
09:04It hit her.
09:05The reality.
09:06The courage it took.
09:09No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child's life.
09:16It just shouldn't happen.
09:18Charity work is also part of their shared story.
09:21In 2020, they announced matching donations up to $25,000 for St. Joseph's Center in Los Angeles.
09:31They believe in giving back.
09:33And Jimmy's long-supported causes like Alex's lemonade stand for childhood cancer research, things that matter deeply to both of them.
09:41Especially after going through the health scares with Billy.
09:48So that comparating got funny and good stuff about it,
09:51All but the way from being home fromoud a month,
09:53That was exciting.
09:55Yeah, yeah.
09:56Absolutely really Wonderful love.
09:57I'm excited too.
09:58To be an 교 The control box and take on the clothes that they fight with early positioned,
10:02Is that an flying force?
10:04Yeah.
10:06I can't siempre, 공it was wasn't much Meteorical Knife,
10:08I was like ich na Pinocchio.
10:10Just imagine the Land Sheik would be asking their 부탁ers to show the Youtube around,
10:12It's wonderful about what such a friendship game get.
