00:00The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just wrapped up its 40th annual induction ceremony.
00:04And you know what that means.
00:05Stars came dressed to impress.
00:08Well, most of them anyway.
00:10So, let's break down who rocked the fashion game and who might have hit a few off notes.
00:15Let's start with Cindy Lauper.
00:18Because how could we not?
00:19She shimmered from head to toe, from that icy platinum hair to her studded jacket.
00:24Pure rock star energy.
00:27Beside her, Brandy Carlyle went for a more laid back vibe.
00:31Converse, loose, styling, and a whole lot of casual charm.
00:37It had personality, sure.
00:39But maybe a little too weekend hangout for such a big night.
00:43Speaking of Cindy, she was inducted by none other than Chappelle Rhone.
00:46Who delivered a look straight out of Cindy's True Colors era.
00:50Chains, a newspaper print skirt, a towering headpiece.
00:53It was bold, theatrical, and completely unforgettable.
00:58And knowing that Chappelle once sang True Colors at a childhood audition, that makes it such a full circle moment.
01:05Then came Taylor Momsen, who definitely understood the assignment, and maybe took it a little too far.
01:11She showed up in a sheer black lace gown that left very little to the imagination.
01:16Bold?
01:17Absolutely.
01:18Subtle?
01:19Not so much.
01:21But later, she changed into a sleek black slip dress for her performance.
01:25Still edgy, but much more in tune with the moment.
01:28It let her focus on the music instead of the fabric situation.
01:31As if that wasn't enough of a moment, Taylor also had quite the reunion.
01:37Jim Carrey joined her on the carpet, 25 years after How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
01:41He rocked a relaxed, slightly rumpled pinstripe look, while Taylor paired her rocker edge with a leather jacket and fishnets.
01:49Casual, playful, and surprisingly sweet.
01:53A heartwarming reunion straight out of Whoville.
01:56Next up, Elton John brought his signature magic, as always.
02:01The cobalt blue suit, the tinted glasses, that effortless confidence.
02:06It's Elton doing Elton, and nobody does it better.
02:09Avril Lavigne followed with full pop-punk nostalgia.
02:12She's clearly staying true to herself, the same fearless rebel we've always known.
02:17Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson kept it fierce with a head-to-toe leather look.
02:20Corset detail, boots, and all the confidence in the world.
02:24It was powerful.
02:25Just like her voice.
02:28Then, Doja Cat turned up the drama even more.
02:31Tiger print corset, emerald fur, and bold jewelry.
02:36Glamorous, wild, and completely commanding the stage while honoring Outcast.
02:42Ray sparkled in a sequined, strapless gown, pairing it with vintage curls and fishnet detailing for a modern edge.
02:49She looked radiant, confident, stylish, and totally red carpet ready.
02:54Over on the other side, Jack White and Olivia Rodrigo made a surprisingly striking duo.
03:00Jack in red and black, Olivia in shimmering ruby.
03:04Their contrast just worked.
03:06Plus, seeing Olivia later join Feist on stage for We're Going to Be Friends tied it all together perfectly.
03:12Keeping the rock energy going, the killers hit the carpet in all-black everything, sharp, cohesive, and effortlessly cool.
03:21Brandon Flowers added a bit of extra flair with his embroidered jacket because, let's be honest, he never misses a chance to stand out.
03:28In contrast, 21 pilots Josh Dunn and Tyler Joseph ditched the rules entirely, rocking red leather pants, oversized hoodies, and total nonchalance.
03:39And then came a heartfelt moment.
03:41Chris Cornell's children Christopher and Tony.
03:44Christopher went for a casual look, maybe a little too casual for the occasion,
03:48while Tony's romantic, soft dress gave ethereal vibes, sweet, if a bit close to nightwear chic.
03:55Following that, Janelle Monae took the spotlight with a show-stopping look.
04:00Bright, theatrical, and totally unforgettable.
04:04You just can't miss her energy.
04:07And finally, Nancy Wilson opted for simplicity with an all-black ensemble.
04:12Unfortunately, the shredded textures didn't quite hit the high note.
04:16The look came off a bit boring compared to the night's more daring styles.
04:19And while this year brought its own unforgettable red carpet moments, it also reminds us of last year's ceremony, which was just as spectacular in its own way.
04:29With legends like Cher, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, and more getting honored, it was a night to remember.
04:37Rock and roll is, it's so inclusive, you know?
04:41It's just inclusive.
04:42You could be, I mean, look, do I look like I should belong here now?
04:46But I'm still working and I'm still happy.
04:48But let's be real, the biggest highlight?
04:50Cher, hands down.
04:52Dua Lipa started off the show with Cher's anthem, Believe, dressed in a sleek black leather outfit.
04:57And just when the crowd thought it couldn't get any better, Cher herself popped up on stage in leather chaps, singing the chorus with Dua.
05:05The audience went wild.
05:07The trajectory of her career has been so inspiring.
05:10And, you know, it's wonderful to have role models like that for artists like me.
05:16Zendaya wowed the crowd, recreating Cher's iconic look in a stunning Bob Mackie halter dress.
05:22She then delivered a heartfelt induction speech that truly honored the music legend.
05:27Thank you, Cher.
05:28Thank you for being an advocate, for being an ally, for painting the way for so many humans of all kinds to live in and speak their truth.
05:37And to have the courage to be as daring and as open-hearted as you.
05:42She called Cher the coolest woman on the planet.
05:46Can you argue with that?
05:47And highlighted her incredible achievement of having a number one hit in every decade for the past seven decades.
05:53That's some serious staying power.
05:55I am beyond honored to welcome Cher, the coolest woman on the planet, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
06:06Then Cher took the stage to accept her award.
06:09And of course, she had us all laughing right from the start.
06:13All right, so it was easier getting divorced from two men than it was to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
06:21Oh, this woman is hilarious.
06:26Cher didn't hold back when talking about her long journey to get here, and how proud she is of never giving up.
06:31My life has been just a roller coaster.
06:36And the one thing that I have never done is I never give up.
06:41She's talked before about feeling snubbed by the Hall of Fame, but this night was all about celebrating her resilience and lasting impact on music.
06:50I changed the sound of music forever.
06:54She even gave a shout-out to David Geffen for pushing to get her the recognition she deserves.
06:58He wrote a letter and sent it to the directors, and so here I am.
07:06So anyway, thank you, David.
07:09Typical Cher, bold, funny, and full of gratitude all at once.
07:14But it wasn't just about Cher.
07:17The night had a rock star lineup of inductees, including the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.
07:23This was a massive moment for Ozzy, who performed Crazy Train and looked genuinely moved while accepting his induction.
07:31I'm most open while I've met my wife Sharon.
07:34Save my life.
07:37And my grandbabies and my friends, I love them all.
07:40He's been rocking for decades, and it was awesome to see him get his well-deserved spot in the Hall of Fame.
07:45Whether you're a fan of his solo work or his Black Sabbath days, you've got to admit that Ozzy is a rock icon who's inspired generations of musicians.
07:54My fans, my fans have been so loyal to me over the years.
07:58I cannot pick them enough.
08:00And then there was Dionne Warwick's induction, a sweet and emotional moment.
08:04Tayana Taylor, who's going to play Warwick in an upcoming biopic, honored the legendary singer,
08:10and later Jennifer Hudson joined Dionne for a beautiful duet of Walk On By.
08:14That one gave everyone chills.
08:18I think it's wonderful that my art has been recognized finally, and I think I'm worthy of it.
08:24And you say finally.
08:27Well, after 62 years, I think it's about time.
08:30The night had its share of cool collaborations, too.
08:34Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, and Sammy Hagar teamed up to honor Foreigner with a rock-filled set that got the crowd on their feet.
08:41If you'd have asked us back in the late 70s when the band was formed, if we'd been still relevant today, I don't think any of us would have believed it.
08:50Finally, Dave Matthews' band closed out the night with a high-energy performance.
08:55Julia Roberts, who happens to be a huge fan, inducted them with a funny story about Googling the wrong Dave Matthews.
09:02Oops.
09:03Don't Google him.
09:05Don't, really.
09:06I did it, and I was immediately filled with regret.
09:10The band wrapped up the evening with an awesome tribute to the Talking Heads, performing Burning Down the House, and bringing the ceremony to a rockin' end.
09:18Welcome to the zobaczyations' band.
