00:00However, O'Reilly's suggestion that no one ever complained about his behavior is false.
00:05I know because I complained.
00:08On Monday Morning's Megyn Kelly Today, the host made public for the first time a letter she wrote to the co-presidents of Fox News about Bill O'Reilly.
00:16Kelly showed the note she sent to Bill Shine and Jack Abernethy while discussing this weekend's New York Times report about a new settlement against O'Reilly for $32 million.
00:27According to the Times report, the former Fox News host reportedly paid that amount to network analyst Lise Weill shortly before his contract with the company was renewed for $25 million per year.
00:39The Times says parent company 21st Century Fox was aware of the allegations made by Weill, which included repeated harassment,
00:46a non-consensual sexual relationship and the sending of gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her.
00:53The settlement, made in January, marks the sixth and largest agreement to settle harassment allegations against O'Reilly, who was fired in April.
01:01Fox News claims to know O'Reilly settled, but that they were unaware of the terms.
01:05O'Reilly told the Times he never mistreated anyone, but settled to protect his children, for whom he had been entangled in a custody battle at the time of the lawsuit.
01:13NBC could not verify the Times report, but Kelly opened her show by saying she spent the weekend speaking with women non-stop who were deeply disturbed over the report.
01:22Kelly, also a former Fox News host, revealed that she too had complained about O'Reilly's behavior.
01:28She says she wrote the letter in November 2016, after O'Reilly went on CBS This Morning, where he said this when asked about the allegations she made against former Fox News chief Roger Ailes in her memoir.
01:40I'm not interested in making my network look bad at all. That doesn't interest me one bit.
01:47According to Kelly, she was sharing the letter now because it speaks volumes about powerful men and the roadblocks one can face in taking them on.
01:55The abuse of women, the shaming of them, the threatening, the retaliation, the silencing of them after the fact, it has to stop.
02:05Former Fox News host Juliette Huddy also appeared on the show.
02:08She spoke out for the first time about her accusations against O'Reilly and what women face when going up against a corporation.
02:15Earlier this year, the Times reported that Huddy said O'Reilly pursued a sexual relationship with her in 2011.
02:21When she rebuffed his advances, he reportedly tried to derail her career. In exchange for her agreement not to sue, she was paid a sum in the high six figures,
02:30though 21st Century Fox and O'Reilly said her allegations were false.
02:34Kelly said she understands the roadblocks women see when speaking out about sexual harassment.
02:39An emotional Huddy explained,
02:41You are just this one person about to go up against a machine. It's daunting and frightening, and it holds you back from taking action sometimes.
02:50Kelly also spoke to Huddy about why women, including her, sign non-disclosure agreements in connection with the settlements.
02:56Huddy said,
02:57Many women just don't want to face what potentially could be coming at them, including facing bad press and being unable to get a new job to pay your bills.
03:05She added that even today, she remains terrified and still hasn't landed a job since leaving.
