00:00Donald Trump is not budging on his stance when it comes to kneeling during the National Anthem.
00:04On Sunday night, Trump questioned the recent apology given by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
00:09about the league's reaction to players peacefully protesting.
00:12In the wake of the death of George Floyd and protests around the globe,
00:15Goodell said Friday the league was wrong for not listening to players.
00:18Many assume this means players will be allowed to kneel during the National Anthem this season.
00:23Previously, a rule was put in place that players would be disciplined for taking a knee,
00:26which was done to protest racial inequality in America, specifically police brutality against African Americans.
00:32However, Trump took the stance, saying that kneeling was a protest against the flag
00:36and calling the first player to take a knee, Colin Kaepernick, a, quote, son of a bitch.
00:41And now it looks like his stance has not changed.
00:43Trump tweeted in regards to Goodell's statement, saying,
00:46could it even be remotely possible that in Roger Goodell's rather interesting statement of peace and reconciliation,
00:51he was intimating that it would now be okay for the players to kneel
00:54or not to stand for the National Anthem, thereby disrespecting our country and our flag?
01:00The president also recently criticized NFL quarterback Drew Brees,
01:03saying the QB was wrong to backtrack a statement he made last week
01:06when he said he was against any player kneeling in protest of the flag.
01:10Brees then responded that Trump was wrong for not thinking forward.
