Ryan Garcia Challenges Devin Haney To Fight After Gervonta Davis Bout

Ryan Garcia already has his eyes set on his next target. The boxer spoke to Hollywood Life ahead of his Gervonta Davis match up & reveal who he wants to take on next.

00:00i'm super excited to chat with you ahead of this big uh fight this weekend so tell me a little bit

00:06what is on the line for you personally and professionally would you say personally my health

00:13professionally my career uh not really my career actually but i see life different you know i see

00:21boxing in a much different way i see it as truly a blessing a calling of some sort but

00:29it's not the main thing in life i've learned you know the main thing in life is family and you know

00:36you evolving as a person to me you know that's really what matters to me but this you know

00:43definitely i'm not gonna lose though so nothing's really on the line i know i'm not gonna lose so

00:48i only feel right answering that question but since you asked i try to give the most honest answer

00:53but truthfully i just know i'm not gonna lose well and i like how you said too how like it's not

01:02everything and i think that your ability to balance social media and being you know having different

01:08campaigns and and brands working with you along with your career shows that how do you balance

01:15your social media life and you know practicing training and improving at your sport

01:22that's an interesting question i would say that i take a more of a stoic approach to things like

01:31that um in the understanding that some things are out of your control uh but what is in my control is

01:38what's in my heart and what i know about myself truly and i pay attention to that uh keeping a humble

01:44heart keeping a heart where i'm always evaluating myself and understanding that some feelings are out of

01:50my control and the things people say are out of my control and it's really to look within myself

01:55um and see if i'm evolving as a person if um i'm becoming a better man each day and if i'm you know

02:04progressing in that term you know spiritually physically and mentally so that's how i balance it

02:09out i just see it as what it is you know it's pretty much just noise and everybody has opinions

02:16and i try to love everybody and try to give them you know knowledge that i may have learned through

02:21my journey and i just see it as that you know if they don't want to receive it and they want to just

02:27return hatred that is out of my control but i choose to be the man i want to be

02:32and that kind of helps you like it feeds into the rest of your life into your sport into

02:39kind of how you live every day it seems oh yeah it's a way of life you know it's yeah it's definitely

02:46and i have to give credit to you know the holy spirit and god and jesus um just giving me that

02:53wisdom i didn't even know what it was but he gave me that peace and then he told me that it was

02:59something you know there's actually a teaching of it's called stoism which i didn't even know about

03:03and then he led me to it so you know it's just amazing life is good you know i live every day

03:09just grateful and just paying attention today i'm happy even to be here talking to you so

03:13it's amazing yeah now you've opened up before about your mental health how have you taken care of

03:20yourself um mentally as you've prepared for this massive fight you know kind of along the same

03:28lines that i was telling you about uh and you know i went through the fire i went through the

03:36the mental warfare and i came back a stronger person a more empathetic person for people all around me

03:43and i love everybody now because you don't know what somebody's going through by by first glance

03:48and it's definitely uh gave my heart a more understanding of everybody else and i think that's

03:55important and i want to be always be an advocate for mental health and to show that you know um

04:01it's just as bad as a broken arm or a you know twisted ankle we gotta address it and we gotta be

04:08kind to each other and spread love i mean seriously spread love love one another that is the truth you

04:15know because i've seen you know some people i know close to me take their life and you know things

04:21like that all around the world you see so many people hurting because of you know the bad side

04:26of social media hurts people people are hurting and if you could just give them hope and give them

04:32your experiences you know maybe that's gonna that's gonna give somebody a shortcut to the piece i found

04:38maybe because i chose to speak up and not be the tough guy that's gonna save somebody's life

04:43because i didn't let the stereotype control me you understand i'm saying i'm not gonna let the world

04:48control me i know what's in my heart i'm a good guy and i kick ass that's it 100 good man and i kick

04:56ass come at me talk all you want about me i'm pretty boy i'm this i'm that instagram fighter don't

05:01matter i'm serving what i gotta serve i know what's right and i do it and i hold myself accountable

05:06and i'm strong i'm gonna show you i'm tough and i'm in there love it i love the confidence what is

05:12going to be the first thing you do on sunday after you win the match i'm gonna have some wine

05:18yeah i'll be chilling with my baby bella my wife and all my family and we're gonna cry talk about god

05:30and just love life you know i mean that's really what it's about you know i learned that you know

05:36it's about protecting your peace i don't want to go too hard because then your p you could even lose

05:41your peace within the midst of victory so i'm like you know what i just gotta stay course love life

05:46and do things in moderation so i'm just definitely gonna keep doing what i'm doing today probably on

05:53sunday but who knows maybe my emotion will be high maybe i'm jump out of a a plane and parachute who

05:59knows you never know with you right yeah yeah um before i let you go obviously you're very focused

06:07on saturday um and davis but is there anybody um else that you're looking forward to wanting to

06:14get in the ring with yeah after this i want to take on devin haney um i think devin haney uh

06:21is a great fighter i fought him so many times in the amateurs and i think it's time you know

06:27uh i definitely want to be a great leader when it comes after this and i told people i choose to

06:33fight the best uh i choose to do it now and i plan to be a man of my word i think devin haney is the

06:39next great fighter after tank davis and again like i said i'm a man of my word and i'm hold myself to

06:46it and go after devin haney awesome ryan thank you so much best of luck this weekend you're the best
