00:02Craig Brewer, the writer-director.

00:06And then he sent me the documentary, the 2008 documentary,

00:09and it was one of the...

00:11It was so moving, quirky, funny,

00:15and it told the story of the heart of a musician

00:19and how you can't give up.

00:23And there's not a lot of money in music, especially nowadays.

00:26And, you know, you do day jobs, whatever it is,

00:31to have that moment of passion at night.

00:34And Craig captured that in his writing.

00:38That's why I wanted to be part of it, because I'm a musician.

00:41What was it like seeing Hugh and Kate sing together for the first time?

00:47They're cute, man.

00:48What a cute couple.

00:50But they are thoroughbreds.

00:54You know, we all do it, right?

00:59Kate, me, you.

01:00We sing.

01:01We dance.

01:02We tell jokes.

01:04We do drama.

01:05We can cry.

01:07We're gypsies on the road.

01:10And to be with that connection of soul is so fun.

01:16It's fun.

01:18For me, it made acting fun again.

01:20I haven't seen the film yet.

01:33Apparently, my therapist said I have to, I guess I've got to release some grief or something.

01:39And it was, and you know, as an actor, you can see things and you separate yourself from it.

01:45You watch it as an actor.

01:47But Craig and Hugh and Katie just brought me right in.

01:51And I was right into the story, just loving it.

01:53And they got me to cry three times.
