00:00It's official, Dick Wolf's original Law & Order series is returning to NBC.
00:06The network has handed out a straight-to-series order for a revival of the procedural that launched Wolf's multi-billion dollar franchise.
00:14The revival is being billed as the drama's 21st season.
00:17Wolf, who remains credited as Law & Order's creator and executive producer, said of the announcement,
00:21There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true. This is mine.

00:36or if it will instead be earmarked for 2022-2023.
00:40Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that some former Law & Order cast members are expected to return for season 21,
00:47though it remains unclear which ones are being eyed to revisit their characters.
00:51The official news that NBC is bringing Law & Order back comes more than six years after the network floated the idea of a return to the show
00:58that launched multiple spinoffs, such as the longest-running primetime live-action show in American TV history, SVU.
01:05During its run, Law & Order was nominated for more than 50 Emmys and took home the Best Drama Series trophy in 1997.
01:12At the time of its cancellation, Law & Order was a season away from breaking Gunsmoke's 20-season record as TV's longest-running primetime drama.
01:21With the revival, Wolf will now have the three Chicago shows, Fire, PD, and Med, and the three Law & Orders on NBC.
