00:00I've heard that there's been a lot of comparisons to The Sopranos recently.
00:04So what do you make of those kind of comparisons?
00:06I think HBO has a long list of great gangster shows.
00:09The Sopranos is one of them, of course.
00:11Wire, there's a ton of them.
00:15They've just been amazing.
00:17So to me, it's a way to do a gangster character
00:21at a place that's known for good gangster fare.
00:24But it really comes from the Batman movie
00:26and this great character that Oz and Matt created from the movie
00:30and that Lauren LaFranc detailed out in a limited series.
00:34Well, it's been incredible to see Colin Farrell transform into this role.
00:39What was it like seeing him back in this character?
00:42But also, what was your first thought when you first saw him kind of step into this character?
00:47I was amazed, of course, with the prosthetics,
00:48but I always see Colin behind the prosthetics.
00:51The way Mike's prosthetics work, you still see his facial movements,
00:55you still see his eyes.
00:56The soul of Colin Farrell is dark and deep
00:59and it broods out in amazing ways.
01:02He's just the most incredible actor.
01:04So he also has no prosthetics on his hands.
01:07So every time I get a little lost in the prosthetics,
01:10I look down at his hands and I go,
01:11oh, that's Colin Farrell.
01:13But it really is in his eyes.
01:14He gives such an amazing performance
01:16because he connects with those Colin Farrell eyes.
01:18Yeah, for sure.
01:19Well, we first see him, of course, in the Batman.
01:21Was there any thought or did you ever consider
01:24having the Batman make any sort of appearance in this
01:27when you were first kind of developing this story?
01:29Yeah, we always thought about that,
01:30but we really wanted to do a standalone series around Oz
01:34and then the characters that Lauren was writing,
01:36Sophia Falcone, Oz's mother, Francis, Vic.
01:40There were so many characters to explore
01:41that once we got deep into this run
01:45and these worlds and these arcs,
01:46it really wasn't meant for Batman.
01:48The movie's meant to see Bruce and Batman's point of view
01:52and these shows are about, you know,
01:54these marquee rogues gallery characters,
01:57their point of view.
01:58Kristen Milioti also really shines through in this.
02:01What makes her the perfect Sophia?
02:03Well, I think she's surprising.
02:04First, she knows this world very well.
02:07Gangsters, I tease her.
02:08She's from New Jersey.
02:09She must have some mob family connections deep down there.
02:12She felt very comfortable at the table doing tough talk.
02:16So that was one.
02:17But she's also just, what a hard worker.
02:19I mean, she just wanted to bring her A-game
02:22and she came prepared.
02:23And this is a really challenging part.
02:25It's physical, it's very psychological,
02:28and she's the one that goes toe-to-toe with Oz throughout.
02:31So it's really demanding.
02:33Also, we know that the Batman sequel
02:34has been delayed to 2026.
02:36Can you share where we are in the development process?
02:39Do we have scripts out?
02:40We'll be shooting next year.
02:41We're excited to be shooting
02:42and can't wait to get back to Leavesden
02:45with our English crew and get going.
