00:24currently held by its parent show, Law & Order,

00:27and CBS's Gunsmoke.

00:28But maybe we're all victims.

00:37Of course, star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay

00:40will also extend her run as Lieutenant Olivia Benson,

00:43aka the longest-running female character

00:45in a live-action primetime series.

00:48The actress has earned eight Emmy noms for her role,

00:50winning lead drama actress in 2006.

00:53Yes, this is the kind of track record that gets Taylor Swift

00:56SVU premiered in September 1999,

00:59and there are no current plans for season 21 to be the show's last.

01:04that if the show's writing remains sharp, she'll stay for 25 years.
