The 83-year-old legend will become the 67th — and 16th female — recipient of the HFPA's highest honor.

00:00Jane Fonda is set to receive the highly prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year's Golden Globe Awards.

00:07Now in the 61st year of her Hollywood career, Fonda, the daughter of Golden Age star Henry Fonda,

00:12and winner of two Oscars and three competitive Golden Globe Awards,

00:16will become the 67th and 16th female recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's highest honor.

00:23Fonda will follow in the footsteps of Walt Disney, Judy Garland, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks,

00:27and yes, her father, who was the recipient in 1980.

00:31HFPA President Ali Saar said in a statement,

00:33For more than five decades, Jane's breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism,

00:38using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of her time.

00:43Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition,

00:46and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained.

00:52Fonda will soon be seen in the seventh and final season of Netflix's Grace and Frankie,

00:56which will become Netflix's longest-running original series.

00:59She was also highly active in the fight to combat climate change,

01:03raising awareness through her fire drill Fridays,

01:05and a book released last fall, My Path from Climate Despair to Action.

01:10As for the ceremony itself, the Globes have been moved to a virtual event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,

01:15and will take place February 28th, with nominations being announced February 3rd.
