00:00Juwan, just talk about the lift you got on Frankie Collins tonight in the first half.
00:09Huge lift.
00:10When DJ went out with foul trouble, I didn't think twice.
00:16Frankie, he's been playing well.
00:19He's been working hard in the gym, in practice, film sessions.
00:25Whether it's an individual film session with myself or Coach Isley, trying to grasp and
00:30understand exactly what we want from him at that position.
00:34And it was great just to see tonight with a team that is very quick, athletic,
00:40tough, that Frankie was able to come in and control the game in the first half,
00:46in those 15 minutes that we needed him.
00:50Andrew?
00:50Juwan, as far as the things you wanted to see different from,
00:55from the last game, the energy and guys accepting coaching and things like that.
01:00How do you think your guys did?
01:03They made a run, obviously, .
01:06I passed with an A plus, and I'm a teacher and I'm grading them.
01:12So with that, I didn't expect anything different because they all are high character
01:19individuals that compete, tough competitors that want to do whatever it takes to help
01:24the team win.
01:25And at times, you're going to have throughout 36, 37 games that you may play this year,
01:31hopefully, that you're going to get like one or two games where you're going to have
01:36something in there where you're like, wow, where did it come from?
01:39And that's not who we are because sometimes mentally, the team is doing some special
01:45things and Arizona, give them credit.
01:49They have some guys on their team that's pretty skilled, athletic, that I projected
01:56they would be draft picks and there's two of them I'm thinking about.
02:00I just don't want to say a name right now because I do not want to disrespect the others.
02:05But it seems like Tarleton State was doing a really good job speeding you guys up in
02:11the half court.
02:12Do you think that that was part of the reason you guys had 21 turnovers?
02:15Or do you think that was also because players were trying to force passes and
02:20make home run plays?
02:21Yeah, our Tarleton is very good at getting to passing lanes,
02:27being active with their hands, feet, and their energy.
02:33And so some of the passes that we were making were, I would say in a respectful way,
02:41mindless, forcing when it wasn't available.
02:46Some of the passes that we were making were that we put too much time on the ball to
02:51allow a player to be a release and deflect it or steal it.
02:56Some of the passes that we were making were we were forcing it into traffic.
03:03And that can happen in any league that you play versus any opponent.
03:08So there's always teachable moments.
03:11And I think that was a teachable moment for us.
03:13Dr. Henry?
03:15Juan, you just mentioned a few different kinds of turnovers and
03:17there's been some offensive fouls and stuff like that.
03:20Is there, I don't know, as far as practice, how you'll go about, you know, fixing this?
03:25Is there, I mean, more drills or what?
03:27You tell me.
03:28Is there some insight into your plan?
03:29You tell me.
03:31You tell me what kind of drills it is and I'll think about using them.
03:35Whatever it takes, all hands on deck.
03:37But I would say this, film is some of the best teaching.
03:40I don't know exactly what the plan are, I assume the players get a little bit of time off the Thanksgiving.
03:48But you guys don't play for a week.
03:49How beneficial can it be after making some trips, playing the game pretty much every three or
03:54four days and we've got some time to look inward?
03:56It's great, man.
03:58This is a holiday that I talked about with our guys.
04:02It's my favorite holiday for it to come up tomorrow and to get away from the game and
04:08be able to enjoy your family, enjoy your extended family.
04:13Like, you know, I have some guys that are guys I'm speaking to my players that are coming
04:17over to the house and you know, kick back and eat some good food and kick our feet up and
04:23take a nap and maybe wake up and eat again and then watch the football.
04:30Enjoy this, this time off and getting away from, you know, the basketball because it's
04:35good to reset the mind and they need it.
04:40And then like I shared with the guys, I said, hey, you come over.
04:44Don't worry about me talking about basketball.
04:46I'm going to be locked into the Lions and Bears game.
04:50And with that, with the next football game, I don't know who else is playing next,
04:56but I was locked in on the Bears.
04:58And then I'm going to be in my own little room so you don't have to look at my ugly face.
05:04So you can grab a plate, two plates, grab a blanket, take a nap on a big couch and enjoy yourself.
05:14So this is well needed for all of us, including Tom.
05:17It's a three-point game with about four minutes to go and then you got three late
05:23dunks from your bigs and they were frustrated most of the game.
05:28What led to those plays?
05:29Well, they put two to the ball where they blitzed the ball screen and I kept sitting the ball
05:38screen up because I wanted our big to be able to get that short roll.
05:43The guard could throw over top and then we could see the other big or perimeter that's
05:49on the wide open with a fourth shot.
05:51Or like what Musa did, he kept cutting to the basket.
05:54And Hunter did an amazing job once of catching it in the post and driving in the dung or catching
06:00it in the post, they doubled and finding the cutters.
06:03And Musa was one of the recipients of that, that activity, just having the IQ and the awareness,
06:12it's pretty special watching a guy like Musa just understands how to play and how to play
06:17the right way with playing with Hunter because Hunter is a willing passer.
06:22You mentioned your disappointment with giving up offensive rebounds a few times this season.
06:29How do you feel about the A&D you guys came up today?
06:31I feel good about it.
06:32I don't feel great about it because I know like the first half they had five.
06:37And now like two of them where we had block outs but then we were suspecting the guy that
06:42one of your teammates to go get it instead of boxing out, they didn't go pursue the basketball.
06:47But then in the second half we gave up three, which that was a sign of growth.
06:52And we talked about it at halftime where I said five offensive rebounds is unacceptable.
06:57And to have only three in the second half with a team that knowing that they were going to
07:02keep fighting until the very end to that buzzer sound.
07:05And I looked at that as good growth for us.
07:08You mentioned football.
07:11Do you have a prediction for Saturday's game?
07:14I don't have a score prediction, but I would say this.
07:18Go blue, baby.
07:20It's going down on Saturday.
07:22Yes.
07:23All ball, this beautiful staff.
07:27Are they preparing?
07:30I love our game plan.
07:32I haven't seen it, but I trust it.
07:34I also love our players, you know, led by so many outstanding young student athletes starting
07:43with my man Hutchinson.
07:44You know, then, you know, I keep going on and on and on.
07:48I keep going.
07:49Like I can name an entire roster.
07:50That's how locked in I am in.
07:51You know, don't give up on J.J. McCarty now, okay?
07:55Cade is so solid.
07:58Oh, my God, it's beautiful to see.
08:01Our running back crew, it's amazing.
08:04But the offensive line, they're going to play on Sundays.
08:08And the Sundays I'm speaking of is they don't get drafted.
08:11Whenever that time comes, they're so special.
08:14And they have a great coach that's leading that offensive line.
08:17But then our defense, you know, I tell you, I keep going on and on and on.
08:22My defense is so solid, they're going to need me out there.
08:25I'm going to be out there loud.
08:27I'm going to lose my voice because I am coming with the energy.
08:33I don't know if it's a 12th man in football, but I feel like I'm the 12th man.
08:39One more from Buck.
08:41With Frankie, I guess, what's the next step for him for his role to continue to expand?
08:45Keep doing what he's doing.
08:47Not to cut you off, keep doing what he's doing, man.
08:49And his role is definitely, he's always there whenever his name is called.
08:57And he's locked in.
08:59You see he sits up in the front of that role of the bench.
09:04He's not down there on the end, sulking about minutes.
09:09He's always locked in into the game, seeing what's happening,
09:13sitting next to Coach Sadi, Coach Howard, picking their brains, asking questions.
09:18But when I come down there on the bench and I'm talking to him,
09:21he has great points, and I just see the maturity in the young man.
09:27All right, thanks, Coach.
