In this special report, the intensifying leadership battle in Karnataka between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is in focus. The power struggle has escalated with DK Shivakumar posting a cryptic message, 'Word power is world power', widely seen as a reminder of the alleged 2.5-year power-sharing agreement. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah retorted, stating, 'A word is not power unless it betters the world for people'. The political tussle has now drawn in religious leaders, with Vokkaliga seer Nirmalanandanatha Swamy backing DK Shivakumar for the top post, while Kuruba seer Niranjanandapuri Swamy asserts that MLAs, not seers, should decide the Chief Minister. India Today reporter Apoorva Jayachandran provides ground updates on the stalemate.

00:00Down south to the state of Karnataka specifically, twists and turns aplenty as Karnataka's Game of Thrones reaches its climax.
00:09Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shiv Kumar has once again attempted to clear the air around his cryptic social media post,
00:15insisting it was simply about Constitution Day.
00:18The KPCC chief, who was in Mumbai last night, maintained he's in no hurry to speak to the Congress' high command
00:24over the ongoing chief ministerial tussle.
00:26But the back and forth between him and the current Chief Minister Siddharamaya has still not stopped.
00:32Earlier, Chief Minister Siddharamaya appeared to taunt D.K. Shiv Kumar over his post, quoting,
00:37and I am bringing to you that very remark,
00:41a word is not power unless it betters the world for people.
00:46Widely seen as a response to what D.K. Shiv Kumar earlier had posted,
00:51word power is world power. That was the message from him.
00:54Meanwhile, both the Siddharamaya and the D.K. Shiv Kumar camps have ruled out any meeting with the high command today
01:00because this is despite Congress Chief Malik Arjun Kharge in fact stating that the two leaders will be called for discussions with Rahul Gandhi.
01:07Now, the BJP, meanwhile, has been having quite a time continuing to take potshots at the Congress
01:14over its escalating power struggle in the state of Karnataka.
01:17Sir, sir, for CM post, do you talk with Rahul Gandhi or Kharge?
01:26No, no, no, it is my leaders. I am not in a hurry for anything.
01:29Sir, sir, for CM post, do you talk with Rahul Gandhi or Kharge?
01:34No, no, no, it is my leaders. I am not in a hurry for anything.
01:38Will this issue be resolved in Delhi, sir?
01:39There are no issues only to resolve.
01:42Will this issue be resolved in Delhi, sir?
01:44There are no issues only to resolve.
01:46It is high command. They are going to meet and take whatever decision they want.
01:54And that meeting will settle everything, whatever has arisen in Karnataka.
02:03DCM naturally will meet the senior leaders, senior ministers, ministers.
02:10That is quite natural. There is nothing very special in that.
02:15It is very important for me, sir, because we have to be heard from Delhi,
02:19in Delhi, the Congress is very passionate,
02:22the people will not be made in Delhi.
02:25Because when we are in Delhi, we are going to see further.
02:28The Congress has passed the house and has passed the house as well.
02:31The Congress will probably die.
02:34They will die.
02:36The other people will die.
02:37But the Congress will not become the type of Delhi.
02:40The government will not become the type of Delhi.
02:44With that, Apoorva joins us on the broadcast with more details on this.
02:52Apoorva, what are we learning at this point in terms of this very Game of Thrones, the
02:57tussle, the war of words that's been underway from what we know so far for the day, neither
03:03Sidramaya himself nor DK Shiv Kumar have any meetings planned with the Delhi High Command
03:08despite them, in fact, being instructed to meet Rahul Gandhi by the party president, Malik Arjun
03:15Kharge himself.
03:18Well, that's right, Shreya.
03:18In fact, if you look at this Game of Thrones that is underway, it definitely looks like
03:24a lot of loopholes through which both Sidramaya and DK Shiv Kumar are falling through.
03:29In fact, totally them, the MLA's who support them, the cadres who support them, in fact,
03:34the caste communities who support them, all of them are, you know, backing each of their
03:39leaders saying that this is the right person for the chief ministerial chair.
03:42But if we just look at what has happened, the word that was so-called given, the politics
03:48around this word that was given 2.5 years ago has cost, you know, has been very costly
03:53for both DK Shiv Kumar and Sidramaya because now it's almost over 2.5 years now.
03:59And yet, you know, the word that was given supposedly 2.5 years back is still remaining
04:05unfulfilled.
04:06And that's what this entire tassel is about.
04:08Who is going to get, is DK Shiv Kumar going to ascend to the throne of, you know, this entire,
04:15you know, governance there after 2.5 years of Sidramaya?
04:19Or is Sidramaya going to finish his promises or rather his wishes that he wants, which is
04:24to be known as the longest serving CM, all of these, you know, are being looked into by
04:31the high command as well.
04:32Definitely, it's not going to be an easy decision for the high command to make, given that, you
04:37know, both Sidramaya and DK Shiv Kumar are, in fact, two of the top leaders there that the
04:43AICC has.
04:44And to have one of their strong battlefronts, that is Karnataka, going through this kind
04:49of tassel, you know, right, definitely does not show a good optics for the AICC in overall
04:57picture as well.
04:58So, there are a lot of loopholes and also a lot of questions that need to be answered.
05:02But ultimately, let's hope that once and if both these leaders are called to Delhi, this
05:09can be sorted out at the earliest.
05:11Shreya.
05:12Right, Apoorva.
05:13There is a lot that's happening, definitely, within the Karnataka Congress unit.
05:17And we are keeping a very close watch on all the developments coming.
05:20Thank you for bringing us the latest updates.
05:23But, Vivas, let's quickly take you through a report now.
05:25After the Congress netas, now seers have locked horns as well over the Karnataka chief ministerial
05:31tassel.
05:32Vokaliga seer, Nirmala Anandanaathar Swami has vouched for DK Shiv Kumar for the top post.
05:39Now, OBC seer, on the other hand, Neeraj Anandanaathpuri, who backs Sidramaya, took a jibe
05:45at Nirmala Anandanaathar Swami and said that MLA's will decide on the chief minister and
05:51not the seers.
05:52Here's a report on the war of words that's erupted.
05:54Take a look.
05:57Politics and religion often go hand in hand in India.
06:01And in Karnataka, the road to the Vidhan Sada often goes by one of the state's influential
06:07mutts.
06:07In the latest update, in the fight for Kursi, Karnataka seers have locked horns over their
06:14favourites.
06:17Vokaliga seer, Nirmala Anandanaath Swami has backed DK Shiv Kumar for the CM post.
06:24The seer said that DK should be made the CM and added that caste identities won't bring
06:30welfare to the state.
06:33OBC seer Niranjanananda Puri, who backs Sidramaya, has hit back at Nirmala Anandanaath Swami, pointing
06:40out that it is the MLA's who decide CM, not seers.
06:44The leader says, party has gone for the election.
06:54He led the party.
06:55He brought the party into the power.
06:58Under his leader says, party has gone for the election.
07:03He led the party.
07:05He brought the party into the power.
07:07Meanwhile, Wokaliga Group Chief Sri Nivas, who backs DKS,
07:36has threatened a protest if the Deputy Chief Minister is not promoted.
08:06It is not just a question of placating personalities.
08:27The Congress's decision on the Karnataka Chief Minister's chair also bears significant caste
08:33and religious stakes.
08:36Coming up with a decision that placates all stakeholders and their backers seems to be
08:41nothing short of a miracle.
08:43With Akshita Nandagopal, Anagha Keshav and Sagairaj, Bureau Report, India Today.
