In a significant political development in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar held a breakfast meeting amid intensifying speculation over a power-sharing agreement. While the meeting aims to project unity, India Today's Sagar Raj reports it is largely 'optics' and a 'photo op' orchestrated by the Congress High Command. The transcript highlights the underlying tension, with Siddaramaiah stating, 'High Command told me and High Command told Mr. DK Shivkumar also that we should meet and discuss.' Despite the public display of camaraderie, supporters on both sides continue to exert pressure, with pujas being performed in Yadagir for Siddaramaiah's continuation. The report also touches on the looming '2.5 years' term-sharing promise made in 2023.

00:00There's support growing for Chief Minister Sidramaya.
00:04Both sides now filing on the pressure and how.
00:07The breakfast meat doesn't change anything and this is a clear indication of that.
00:11Sidramaya supporters are now performing a special puja for the Chief Minister.
00:17This is in Yadgarh of Karnataka that this puja is being performed for Sidramaya to continue as Chief Minister.
00:24We've seen similar images happen yesterday as well with DK supporters doing the exact same thing.
00:28But this right here is the crucial part.
00:32That you have pressure tactics by both sides.
00:34The high command may say bury your differences.
00:37The high command may say bury the hatchet.
00:39Come together.
00:40You know go for those optics of holding your hands and say all is well.
00:44But this is the reality viewers.
00:46That this kind of power games continue with factions being set up.
00:49With all these pujas, hawans and what not being done.
00:54And statements.
00:55Important statements coming in from both sides saying.
00:57We want DK Shukumar to be Chief Minister.
00:59We want Sidramaya to continue as Chief Minister.
01:02And my suspicion is whether this breakfast meat is successful.
01:06And I can assure you that there will be that particular photo op of them holding their hands.
01:11Irrespective of that.
01:12In the next one hour while the breakfast meat is even on.
01:15You're going to continue seeing these kind of images of pressure tactics.
01:18Of pujas.
01:19Of chants for CM and what not.
01:22It changes nothing on the ground except that it makes the high command happy.
01:26Which is what Sidramaya and DK Shukumar want right now.
01:29Their bosses will be the ones who take the call.
01:31So when their bosses tell them get together, shake hands, make up.
01:35They go ahead and do it.
01:36But their demands remain the same.
01:38Their ambitions remain the same.
01:40The fact that Sidramaya said exactly that yesterday.
01:43Sidramaya in fact in that statement which will play out for you.
01:46Will pull that out.
01:47Sidramaya said yesterday very clearly.
01:50That yes the high command has asked me to meet with DK Shukumar.
01:53But I will remain the Chief Minister.
01:55Nothing changes on that front.
01:57And that's a very important message that's come in from the Karnataka CM.
02:01He's not backing down.
02:03Inviting DK Shukumar for breakfast.
02:04Doesn't mean at any point he's willing to say step back and say look DK Shukumar can be made the Chief Minister.
02:11Absolutely not.
02:13He is a veteran administrator.
02:14He is also a masterful politician.
02:17And that's what makes the difference here.
02:19That Sidramaya will say I'll do what the high command wants.
02:21I will go ahead and invite DK Shukumar for breakfast.
02:24But it doesn't change the fact that I want to complete my full term as Chief Minister.
02:28Listen in to exactly what Sidramaya said last night.
02:31It's only a breakfast meeting.
02:36Sir, but what is the high command said to you so far?
02:42High command told me and he also, high command told Mr. DK Shukumar also that we should meet and discuss.
02:52Right.
02:53But all things amicable between you both?
02:55But my stand is whatever high command says I will go by it.
03:00All right, sir.
03:02Okay, let me bring in Sagaraj for more details on this.
03:05Sagaraj, let's break it down for our viewers.
03:08What does this breakfast meet actually do besides the optics?
03:11Is there going to be any tangible takeaway really?
03:14Does it change anything at all in this game of thrones that we've been talking about?
03:18Definitely not.
03:24I mean, it is an open secret that this particular meeting is just an optics, it's just a photo op.
03:29And probably DK Shukumar will talk to him stating that the promises that have been made in the year 2023 stating that you will resign after two and a half years.
03:38He will request him that whatever the transition happens and you should allow to happen smoothly and without any kind of hurdle for him.
03:46And as Nagarjun was mentioning earlier that he might also give office stating that so many people will be accommodated from your camp.
03:53And there might be also cash calculation which will be done.
03:56And he will say that probably he might go ahead and allow one or two deputy chief ministers who can depute him and he can be the chief minister.
04:05And also his camp will be accommodated as a KPCC presence.
04:09So there will be a lot of negotiation which will happen on the dining table when they are having breakfast.
04:14And we need to wait and watch how Sidramaya is going to respond.
04:18So he has categorically mentioned yesterday stating that this particular breakfast meeting is happening because high command have instructed them.
04:26It is not on voluntary basis.
04:27They didn't invite him to have breakfast.
04:29It is because the high command have asked them stating that this is not the culture of Congress.
04:33You should not try to take jive at each other and try to bring a photo op to the media to ensure that you guys are at peace
04:41and you don't have any kind of differences between you.
04:44So it is just a photo op which will be done here in the chief minister's office.
04:49And thereafter, if at all, if they get a call, they will go to Delhi.
04:53And what we get to learn from DCM office is he might leave this afternoon to Delhi.
04:59He will be holding a meeting on Mekedhatu.
05:02It is on a pretext of holding a Mekedhatu meeting.
05:03But everybody is well aware that what is happening behind the scenes in this particular travel to Delhi.
05:11He says, you know, I have a lot of business, a lot of work in Delhi.
